I don't understand the hostility. Successful companies often bring in consultants to help their staff; why would this be any different? I mean, it's Peyton Freaking Manning for Christ's sake! If the headline was "Dolphins bring in Jay Cutler for visit with Tannehill" I'd be rolling my eyes but this is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.

Sparano's last year.... 0-7.... We thought Luck was ours! But no, after all the Bullcrap about trying to replace Tony ; Ross let him ride it out only to fire him 6 games later. We went 4-2. Ofcourse......So they promote Todd Bowles, who impressed. (2-1) I honestly lobbied for him. Unfortunately though we wound up picking 8th & Philbin won the EPIC battle for our coaching gig. Remember though, Philbin led us to Sherman, who led us to Tannehill. I imagined a dream scenario as consolation for missing out on the 2 premiere QB prospects: Peyton Manning tutoring the raw Tannehill for years! Well, Peyton never returned Ireland's calls. He was hookin up with Gase in Denver, where they took to smashing every offensive record involving passing and points.

Now we sorta got the whole shebang, in Miami.
So we got that goin for us.... Which is nice.

Really shows the respect and good relationship he has with Gase. Good on a couple of levels.

Not sure what there is to discuss with Manning, since Denver ran Manning's scheme, not Gase's.

It would be sweet if this interaction gets Manning involved in coaching. If he respects Gase so much I can see him coming on as QB coach/Offensive assistant.

Peyton Manning seems to think Gase did something to help. The record books support that. "Omaha" supports that. I haven't heard of a specific scheme Gase uses anyway.... Could it perhaps be the one that made Tebow a winning Qb in the NFL ? ...But that was a Tebow scheme!

Is it possible Gase invited Peyton to talk to Ryan about pre snap adjustments ?!?!!

Omaha is from his days with the Colts, Gase added some wrinkles to an already established offense, that was not an offense of Gase's design.

Thats interesting. I just don't recall the Omaha stuff from the Indy days. I obviously wasn't implying that Gase had a scheme or forced anything on Manning in Denver, that would be ludicrous. Just that manning had his most prolific year with Gase and that he clearly has a lot of respect for him. But if you get beyond the jibber jabber of my post... I thought I made a good point at the end! :hi5:

Then people should probably stop acting like Gase had no input on the Denver scheme. I highly doubt Peyton would think he was a genius if he didn't have anything to do with the offense...

Yes, Manning has said that Gase did add stuff to the offense, but Manning also said it was the same offense that he ran in Indy, the whole point being, it's not Gase's offense.

It will be an extremely similar thing here in Miami, we will not be running the OCs offense, so if he gets hired next year to be an AHC/OC somewhere else, looking at our offense won't tell you much, because the OC will be running the HCs offense.

taking elements from what manning likes to do is what he's supposed to do, but I'm sue he made enough changes are gave enough input to manning for him to call him a genius and have that offense break all kinds of records, I guess what I mean is, if it were as simple as manning running his indy offense then there would be no reason for manning to become inspired by gase...

I have no opinion nor care whether or to what degree Gase influenced the scheme in Denver. But I don't think anyone said he had no influence whatsoever.

Also, Rodgers had glowing things to say about Philbin. Just saying ...

Who said Manning was inspired by Gase? He has a high opinion of Gase, and I think that the great season has a lot to do with it being the most talented offense that Manning played on.

You've been reading the board since Gase was hired, correct? There's been a number of posters saying that Gase didn't do anything in Denver, that Peyton ran the offense and it was Manning's scheme.

It's as if McCoy never existed.

Mike McCoy was/is an Earhardt-Perkins scheme. Same the Patriots use (actually developed with the Patriots). Same that Peyton/Tom Moore used. With Tebow, McCoy adjusted the scheme to fit Tebow's strenghts (namely, a ton of read-option) which they obviously removed in 2012, Manning's first year. Remember it was the success of Tebow than Manning that led McCoy to be a hot ticket item.

So McCoy leaves, and Gase comes in, does he install a new offense? No, not really. Most people don't realize this, but Manning is allowed so much freedom at the line because his offense is really, really simple. This is not the offense the Patriots run. It's a super simple offense, that knows the defense can't cover everyone on every call. But the kicker is, Manning is an all time great at knowing where the weakness will be pre-snap, and already knows where the ball is going. That's why he (and Brady) have the quickest throws year in, year out.

Here is a guy who covers the Broncos, pretty in-depth.

    http://www.itsalloverfatman.com/broncos/entry/broncos-offensive-schemes-through-the-years

Here is where he breaks down what Denver's offense should be, right after they signed Manning:

    http://www.itsalloverfatman.com/broncos/entry/understanding-the-manning-offense-part-1

Here is a grantland piece on how they turned the Denver offense into a monster, basically ... more of Manning's offense in 2012.

I don't think it's a stretch to say, nor is it a criticism, that Gase learned some of his offense from Manning. Gase has said as much publicly.

Now, if the argument is, that Denver's offense was basically the Manning/Moore offense with some Gase wrinkles thrown in, I think that is entirely reasonable, and probably accurate.

If the argument is, because of ^^^^, Gase had no influence on Manning and so Tannehill shouldn't even study the Broncos' film, I think that is a bit much. Manning is one of the best. I think Gase actually learned quite a bit from Manning, and don't forget, Clyde Christensen was also in Indy throughout a lot of the Manning/Moore days. So Tannehill can try and learn from Manning.

More film is never wrong. Ever.

whats interesting is when Gase was there Manning was on fire, then when Gase left, manning went to sh## until Kubiak allowed him to go back to what he did best..

To think manning was just running and calling an offense on his own is silly, I'm sure gase allowed manning to run what he likes and adapted his principle to that..which is what good coaches do, they enhance what the player does well, and in this case, gase identified that manning liked to run his stuff so he designed and morphed the two together..

Manning was on fire with McCoy, and it was after a year off from injury. Manning under Kubiak was crap all year, Manning was no longer throwing with any strength. I like Gase, but I'm not yet sure how much of Denver I can place in his hands. I do think he benefited from learning from Manning who probably has more experience than Gase, and from what I hear, that experience learning from Manning is definitely going to help the team.

how do you want to interpret the ''genius'' comment?

thats what it comes down to me, Manning is an alpha, a very smart one, and one of the best qbs of all time, those kinda folks dont throw those words around to just anyone...its a hell of an endorsement.
