Again, that's where I find fault with looking at just "averages."

If Horry misses all those shots that made him "Big Shot" does it hurt his average much? No. But he made them, and that's why he's Big Shot Bob.

Robert Horry attempted 1562 FGs, made 665 for a .426 average. If he had missed 5 of his biggest shots, his average would be .422

Not a big difference in averages, but a HUGE difference in rings. Because several of those shots were crucial in getting his rings.

The NBA playoff is like 25+ games. 3 minutes left, in game 6, where your team is about to be eliminated, is much different than game 1, in round 1, etc.

The guy will score 3 points for 47 minutes, and in the last minute score a 3 to give them the game. He got the reputation for being Big Shot Bob because he kept making big shots. For a two bit player who wasn't all that good, why did he keep turning up and helping his team win crucial games?

Go find me another player with similar stats to Robert Horry, with that many big performances in important games. If he is nothing special, you'll have a list of 10 players with the same amount of crucial plays, easily. Thousands of NBA players. Many with nondescript careers. Go ahead, bring them to us.

    As for Mr. October

His World Series batting average bested his regular-season mark by 95 points (.357 to .262) and he ranks in the top 10 in almost every significant offensive category, including first in slugging percentage at .755. His regular season slugging was .490.

And we're talking 100 plate appearances spread over 5 different world series. You can't argue "luck" or random chance. Reggie really saved it for October, more specifically the WS.
