Get the feeling Whiteside is leaving us. He didnt have this diva personality a month ago and his attitude has changed. Oh well, time to go all in on Durant.
Hypothetically, if Whiteside leaves and Miami gets KD, they could still potentially add a Horford or Noah, right?
Horford will get 17-20 million per so no, Noah yeah.. Though i rather go after Ian Manhimi or even Mozgov.. Noah is damaged goods..
One thing for sure, i hope Bosh is fully healed and in all star form. Any less than that and we are looking at a terrible contract that is preventing us from going back to contending..
If Miami signed two max players and Wade took the league minimum I think the Commissioners office would start looking into it, you can pull a lot of nonsense in the NBA, they want super teams and player movement but that would be pretty ballsy.
Yeah wade isnt going to take chances anyways, turns 35 in 6 months.. I mean thats around the age we got ray allen lol
I think Whiteside was sending a message. Not that he's leaving but that he could and we better make a quick decision
I'd hate to do it but if you can trade Dragic and McBob without taking much back, you completely resolve this problem, plenty for Hassan/Wade/KD
Like i posted in the other page, Whiteside wants his decision done by July 1st. This is a direct message to Riley that says he isnt going to wait for him to finish flirting with Durant. Either make him your top priority and sign him or hes gone. Also Whiteside isnt only after money, he wants a more defined role on the team. Something the Cuban would gladly give him considering Cuban once said Deandre would be the first option on his team. Lol
Dragic isn't going to be traded. We're stuck with that contract for now. Nothing short of Wade playing ball on his contract would get Durant here. If Whiteside leaves, opening up that max slot, you have to think Durant balks at us. Maybe we should start paying guys full salaries so when it's time to get better, we can say that it's a business. If it were me i would just make whiteside priority, and whatever money leftover we use to make our bench deeper, and go back again. Winslow and Richardson are both going to get better. Winslow is determined from everything i read, to be even better next season. We put the ball more on Dragics hands to keep the load off Wade and we go back to the playoffs and try to knock off cleveland.
Eh whatever happens, happens. If we end up striking out on Whiteside Sign a combo of Manhimi, Batum, Lee or all three. Bring back Deng, give Wade his max but make sure it's a three year deal so that it expires with Bosh's contract. Now you signed two of your core plus you added a lot of depth. We wont be winning championships but we will be a playoff team, and we will certainly have exciting games. In 2019 you have a clean slate, and the new management (assuming Riley is retired by then) will have a lot to work with.
If we don't sign Whiteside July 1, we either didn't really want him or we know something about Durant
Im a fan of a team that allowed me to witness 5 Finals, 3 of them with championships. Cant be negative, im very grateful and i love our young talent.
I don't buy the KD hype at all to be honest. Aside from playing in the east I don't see the real draw. Plus wasn't he the one saying wade was overrated just a few years back. If bosh was healthy then I could see the appeal but why would he risk jumping into that risk. As for whiteside he's harder to read imo. In a sense he could just want to take all these meetings from teams that didn't want him before, or he could really just want to cash out and be done with it quick. I don't feel like the heat can really do much until the whole bosh saga is solved.
Well KD might go back to OKC on a 1 year deal and the Heat might be in a position to sign him next year too. Its a tough spot because you kind of have to give Whiteside a max deal on the 1st unless he's bluffing.
Trading Dragic erodes trust in the organization. It's the exact scenario Whiteside is trying to avoid by not compromising on the nominal value of his contract. You would literally be justifying his paranoid approach to negotiating with the team, and you leave a bad taste is the mouths of potential future free agents. Unless we're going to stop selling tax relief as a pull factor, we're stuck with Dragic. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Guys, Durant signing with us in 2016 is absolutely not happening unless Wade plays ball. Him doing a 1 year deal and looping back in 2017 is far more likely. Trading Dragic is free agent suicide for us after all we did to make him happy including bringing in his brother. For superstars it won't matter, but for signings like Joe Johnson this past season, you can't expect guys to not look at us trading Dragic and realize that they could get burned if we want to move on. We can't pull all this loyalty over royalty and Heat lifer stuff if we go ahead and trade Dragic. A wink nod arrangement to funnel money to him won't work because then that has to become a part of your free agent pitch and then we get investigated and destroyed by the league. Biyombo probably fits that portion that you cherry picked better, granted. But Whiteside is coveted for many reasons, obviously. Having a guy who can get to the rim on offense and defense, is always going to entice teams in the NBA. Wile Hassan isn't great at PnR defense, He still swats balls at a better clip than anyone not named Draymond. Combine that with an underrated mid-range shot to go with his game underneath, and well...here we are. Wherever he ends up, it sounds like it will be early in the process. Read something here tonight that Whiteside is hopeful to know where he will be playing come July 1st. So I assume whoever he has lined up to meet with that day, is probably going to get him. He isn't going to drag this out like Aldridge did last year.
If they don't re-sign Whiteside, the money is there. If they can find a taker for McBob, there is even more money.
I wasn't cherry picking. Calm down sweetie. I was pointing out that Whiteside isn't much of a passer and that's it. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Was thinking of Wade with the Bulls in 2010 or LeBron both times he's hit free agency - but Durant could really nuke the Warriors' offseason but stringing them out and then re-signing with the Thunder. Whether they made the trades to open up space for him or just renounced Barnes and lost out on the other guys signing right away. Sort of like what happened to the Suns with Aldridge last year. Not saying he'd ever do that - but he could certainly make his path to the Finals much easier.
So, if the worst happens, and we miss on Durant and lose Whiteside what do you do? Do you go big money for Horford, give Wade his big contract and play it out? Or do you patch the team together with 1 year deal guys and put everything off until next summer? Does Wade even want to do that?
LeBatard saying that Heat's plan A is to get Durant and Whiteside though he has no idea how that's possible The Heat do not view Whiteside as a full max guy but might pay it. They "know" Horford would love to be here and he is Plan B. I do wonder if we have a Dragic trade ready to go if necessary. Same way GS and SA have to have plans to clear space quickly
Horford's Max is more than Whiteside He helps you create some more space but rebounding and rim protection would be a problem Atlanta traded for Splitter for that very reason
