Looks like Warriors and Heat scheduled for Friday Spurs may already be out per Stein as Duncan opted in and they picked up Diaw's option Not doing anything to clear space
Considering Durant will have 5-6 meetings in two days, it may be advantageous to go early/first. Make a good impression before weariness (of all kinds) sets in.
Let's look legitimately at what Wade has sacrificed so we can calculate what he is owed. These numbers come from Sporttrac and are approximate for ease of math purposes Forget everything pre 2010. He got the max before that In 2010 he took less than LBJ and Bosh, at 107 total, when he could have earned $122 approximately So that's a $15 million sacrifice. He was owed another $45 on the contract when he opted out in 2014. He then was ultimately paid $35 million the last two years. A $10 million sacrifice. So if he wants to recoup every dollar he gave back, we still owe him $25 million. 3 for $36 million is more than fair. He gets made more than whole, we maintain flexibility. Win for everybody. If he insists on getting all $25 million back this year, then I think you have to seriously consider walking. Or just giving him the deal and then making clear its minimums from there out
that's not the number. The number is $45 for 3. Wade likely wants a higher 1st year payout. It's all a dance now. Heat is gonna try to get as good a deal as they can get.
Except..I am sure the Heat is exploring a Min. contract for Wade this year and a $36mil payout next. Albert Nahmad explained that was a strategy to make Wade whole while Riley goes nuts in FA.
Well that's even better. I read Nahmad's article but just never considered it a possibility. The beauty is that we'd clear mega space now and his cap hold would be virtually nothing next year Can he sign a 1&1 with that kind of structure or is this a "wink & a nod" situation?
Looking back at Albert's article, Wade taking the minimum would have to be a "wink wink" scenario to maximize the benefit to the team. The whole point is to clear mega cap room this year AND next and the only way to do that is to give Wade the minimum on a 1 year deal, which would lower his cap hold to around $5 million. You could then use all your cap space and give Wade his max, which would be well over $30 million
Sec - Heat gonna be able to bring back Tyler Johnson or does that gum up future cap space too much? Mannix seemed to think he could get $12-13mil per year.
at that number...NO WAY. The good news for the Heat is that there no more poison pills. YOU MUST have the yearly average available under the cap to sign that offer sheet. The Heat only need to come up with 5.6 and 5.9 the first two years. then pay the balance the rest of the years. But if somebody pushes past $6 mil per on average....well, then... #HeGone
If someone pays Johnson $5M a year, let alone 12-13 they should have their head examined. There are some things to like there, but he has a LONG way to go. You'd hate to see a guy you groomed succeed somewhere else, but you simply cannot screw with your future cap space to keep him, especially when you have a guy who can do everything he can do (and most of it better) in Richardson. As for Wade, the one year minimum with a max in 2017 is the ultimate dream scenario. It really works out for everyone in the end and gives the Heat an insane amount of flexibility. It's a pretty big gamble for Wade, though, at his age. A serious injury could cost him tens of millions.
Lol if tyler johnson gets 12-13 million, that agent whoever he is, is about to get every nba player as his client. He will be the Scott Boras of the NBA
I can see EASILY how Heat fans ANNOY so many people. They are insanely spoiled. A Lot like early 1990's Fins fans. Too many times, I keep seeing Heat fans on twitter referring to last year and this year as a "rebuild, down period." Hello? Division title, #3 seed, a **** hair away from a EC Finals showdown? Rebuild? Down period? Just like those dolphin fans that called the Fins "mediocre" when they were winning 10 games year in and out.
Would LOVE a 10 win season. Seems so far away, now. Agreed, we were spoiled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Meetings with KD are in the Hamptons....gonna have to make the hour drive out to the East End of LI and do a little convincing . You know, just in case Carmelo didnt get the verbal commit to the NYK from KD when they ate in NYC a few days ago. Seems as though some of KD's meetings are in the Hamptons and some are in NYC.
Still a big risk. Can you imagine if Wade has a serious injury next season, and Miami is paying him $36M the following year?
Nailed it. I told you all we were third! So Riley is up against a cow town and a place where Durant has to be Steph Curry's vallet and chauffeur.
Our meeting with Durant is apparently on Sunday July 3. I think that puts us as the last team. OKC Thursday, GSW Friday, Spurs on Saturday, Heat on Sunday, and absolutely no one else of import. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
I forgot to tell my Chris Bosh mistaking me for a coach story. Here it is: It is early in the Miami Big Three era and the team is back from the air force base they did training camp at, and were conducting one of their first practices before a pre-season game. Some famous season ticket holders, and celebs were being invited to these early practices, and a friend of mine with the Heat invited me to come to one of these practices. First of all, I asked what to wear and he told me "athletic gear, and clean rubber sole shoes". So I put on a Heat Polo, black basketball shorts and Nike running shoes. I arrive at the AAA practice court, check in, and I begin to wander till I find my friend. My friend is a bit occupied, and I then wander off the court as I had to go take a piss. I find myself in a room I KNOW I shouldn't be in since I now see a couple of staff talking to a guy (camp fodder) who was apparently injured. I used the urinal anyway in what seemed to be a practice court bathroom, and as I come out, I do catch a dirty look from security staff, but not much else. I then walk to the side of the practice court and see that the media is off to the side, but I am standing directly behind the goal. I am a bit bored, since LeBron and Wade were mostly dicking around on the other side shooting free throws. But now, Spo whistles practice in, as LeBron and Wade join the group directly in front of me, and begin to work on some sets. I am really interested in this, and it is rather eye opening how athletic and Big LeBron / Wade actually are. But there is no Chris Bosh. He is standing to the side with David Fizdale staring at a Ipad having a conversation. A little time passes by, and I feel the presence of somebody tall standing next me. It's Chris Bosh with a Ipad in his hands. he says "Hey Bruh, coach wants me to go here, or to go here when I set this pick?" I immediately recognize the set on the screen (it was a Lakers vs. Phoenix game) and I tell him that he has two options on it, and that the Key is to keep the one count to time the screen properly, so we don't get called since it will look like a moving screen. he then says "thanks", drops the Ipad on some pads and joins practice. He then runs the set, perfectly..catches the ball on the wing for a 18 foot jumper...drains it, Spo then says "Good, Good, Good, Chris, you can also go there with it, you got options on this...." Bosh then says "I got some help on that coach." I then immediately notice...I am wearing the exact Polo all the coaches are wearing and my basketball shorts look very similar to those as well. My friend walks up next to me and tells me "Go where the media is before Security thinks you are impersonating a coach." As I walk away, Spo got a good chuckle and gave me a wink.
I like the Heat currently sitting in the 3rd position. It makes them dark horse enough that Durant won't overthink it, but has us close enough to put Riley in striking position. That puts Miami in a spot that Riley working his magic could actually land him. You sell him on the market, you sell him on a championship organization, and you sell him on being the fact of that organization moving forward. I'm actually really starting to get my hopes up.
When we were winning 10 games a year with Fiedler and Wannestadt I kinda thought we were mediocre......our defense wasn't for sure but I never thought we'd actually win or even come really close to a Superbowl title because I thought Fiedler was so limited and Wannestadt was a ****ing idiot. With JJ I thought we had a shot though.
That's essentially the Bengals under Marvin Lewis. You don't see a Super Bowl, but they're much better than mediocre. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
No doubt I'd take those teams now, but at the time we didn't have a decades long drought of even being worth a crap. The Bengals are smart to stick it out with Lewis, I mean they had like a 20 year playoff drought before him, I'd stick with it if I were them.
