Btw has anyone shown any interest in JR Smith yet? Youd think with people like Jon Leuer getting 10 million per, JR would be able to land 15m per from some team.
Celtics brought Tom Brady with them to the KD meeting Embarrassing for them Not enough to sell basketball wise I guess
Some stuff out there that KD's agent, Rich Kleimann is very close to Mark Jackson, and that may play a role in steering KD away from GS
Its a smart move, Duran'ts probably a football fan too. Brady owns the town too, probably has contacts to marketing deals, etc.
Nothing says yeah, we don't actually have any other great players for you to play with like bringing a player from another sport. Royce Young, covers Thunder for ESPN LOL
Remember how lame it was when LA brought out a bunch of celebrities when they tried to court LA last year? His biggest issue was that LA seemed too focused on the city itself rather than basketball. Sent from my OnePlus 3
His biggest issue was the team sucked and Kobe still ran it. You guys always seem to laud Miami the city as a recruitment tool but when other teams do it they are lame and don't have any credibility.
Don't you have friends you can talk to? http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/7/1/8880343/lamarcus-aldridge-los-angeles-lakers-nba-free-agency When Miami talks about the city, they refer to the lifestyle, the tax advantages, the beauty, etc., but basketball and winning is always the primary focus. Last year, LA literally paraded a bunch of celebrities in front of his face and mostly talked about how great it would be to rub elbows with a bunch of rich people. You really need to chill out with your bull**** sometimes bruh. Not everything is a fight to get into. Sent from my OnePlus 3
Could Boson afford Durant and Horford this offseason? If they got those 2 and finally pushed chips in for Jimmy Butler - whoa.
Theres no need to get personal, its beneath you. I stand by my point. The city gets mentioned as a recruitment tool all the time by the fans in here. LA doing the same thing may have turned off LA but honestly if they had a great team he might have signed there, of course they didn't want to talk about basketball all that much, their team stinks.
I don't see any of the teams that are the trail of Wade supposedly offering him 20 million a year, im sorry I just don't see it. Milwaukee, he's just not going there. He's not going to Denver. Chicago is rebuilding, Knicks don't have the cap space. This is complete ego, agent-driven garbage. Trying to drive up the price on Miami's end.
If I were Durant I can't say that bringing Brady would be a positive. If I were a fan of his it would be neat, but beyond that I'd be thinking, "why are you here?" My read on Durant is that he's looking primarily for the best basketball fit. He already owns the town in OKC. If he wanted to be the star he'd stay. He's going to make bank wherever. If it's about maximizing money than he'd pick OKC or Mia/SA if he were really savvy. I see the marketing stuff as a nice plus, but nowhere near the main draw. I expect him to go wherever they pitch him the best about how he fits as part of a championship team. That's where Riley excels. GSW IMO would be the best team, but maybe not the best fit as there are only so many shots. OKC is obviously a very good team, but I don't get the impression he loves playing with Westbrook and if he leaves next season then it'll be hard to find another superstar to go to OKC. I'd want to know about Bosh. Whiteside is in and I don't think most believe Wade is gone. A team with Wade, Durant, Bosh, Whiteside, Richardson and Winslow is pretty good. I also don't think it would be tough to convince Durant that we could fill out the roster with some older ring seeking stars who'd take way less than market. Even if Bosh is a question mark it would only be a 1 year thing b/c that would free up another max slot in a team that has had considerable success attracting FAs. I think the sales pitch from Miami would be all about how he fits and how they'll help him become better. They'll point out how he can make all he wants in salary and marketing and about the tax advantages, etc., but the pitch will be about basketball. I personally don't see OKC as the front-runner. I think he wants to leave, that he sees it as a good situation, but not great. He may need to be blown away by some team, but I think he wants to be. My guess is that it will come down to GSW and Miami.
I know some of you think it's Riley this Riley that. But he's not exactly recruiting ppl to play in Milwaukee or Detroit. That city sells itself in terms of lifestyle and tax advantages. As for the endorsement stuff? Way overblown. KD could play in Kalamazoo Pennsylvania and get 100M deals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
While it's funny Boston brought Brady, they also brought Olynyk, Smart, Thomas, and Crowder supposedly.
It's both. I keep going back to this, but Riley nearly convinced Aldridge to take the freaking MLE last year. That's at least 90% Riley. At the end of the day, though, who cares? We have both going for us.
LMAO Celtics arent getting anyone. Horford dont even want their money. KD isnt going there to play with nobodies
Nice play by Heat summer team. Winslow, Richardson and Webber all looked good, and this rookie Stefan Jankovic is one to watch. Smooth scorer.
Horford signing 4 years, $113 million with Boston. Just minutes after Woj said Boston was retreating and return to ATL was imminent.
Complete embarrassment for Woj the last 10 minutes Some sources jerked him hard and he was so desperate to be first
Per Windhorst, Atlanta offered $136 over 5, a lower average than Boston but way less than the full Bird Rights max This certainly helps Boston to the extent they are really in it. They had zero chance without another star so their chances are now more than zero I'm a but skeptical in the KD/Horford thing because if that was the key we would've let Whiteside go and signed him
Ugh. Celts are major players for KD now if you believe his ties to Horford. Not good for Miami's chances.
I trust Riley. If Horford was really the difference I think we would've tried to sign him. We didn't. He must know something regarding KD's preferences I still say Whiteside/Bosh/KD is the most devastating front court in the league.
