Best new show of 2016? Yup. Apparently, based on a comic book and produced by Seth Rogen.

Spoiler free plot summary: A preacher in a small town (In Texas I believe) with a shady and violent past is losing his faith, until he comes into contact with a supernatural energy. He meets and befriends a supernatural creature of a different kind (who is awesome) as his past catches up with him, in the form of an ex girlfriend (who's also awesome). So far, the side characters are pretty strong too. Not to mention, some ridiculously good fight scenes... For a TV show, they're pretty ****ing great.

Go watch it. 3 episodes into the first seasons so far, so you don't have much to catch up on.

I loved the comic, its been rumored to have been a series, movie, etc. for a long time (years and years), it was good to see it finally getting to TV. I liked the first 3 episodes a lot, the cast is really good. The comic was ****ing twisted so I'm not sure if even AMC has the sack to stick to it but we'll see. Its really good so far.

Season 2 is a full go, 13 episodes ordered!

    Episode 6 thoughts

    - The opening scene was terrific. Fun and interesting fight sequences are becoming this shows highlights week to week. This weeks fight scene was made more fun with the angels dead bodies piling up throughout the sequence. Cassidy's appearance, mucking up their hard work was pitch perfect. Even better, was his disgust at "Genesis? The band?!"

    - Tulip and Emily bonding after Tulip breaks her child's "art thing" was kind of boring, despite a fun start. Tulip is just too dynamic of a character for Emily, who seems to represent the hum drum town. They're meant to act as ying and yang for one another, but it Emily feels too outmatched. The one interesting note from this scene, was Tulip having had a kid. We don't get any explanation as to the whereabouts of the kid, so I'm going to assume that's part of the tragedy that is her character.

    - Eugene's meeting with Preacher was odd for me. As Preacher said, he's a hard to kid to please... I mean, if you were tormented by the entire town and lived a horrible life with kids breaking into your house, writing "finish the job" and leaving a shotgun behind in your bedroom, wouldn't a reprieve feel welcome and deserved? On the other hand, since Eugene is somewhat of the moral compass, and is trying to teach Preacher a lesson that no one else can, it only seems right that he be the one to deliver it. I think this is why this scene worked for me. I don't want Eugene to suffer, but he kind of has to, despite the fact that he shouldn't... Does that make any sense?

    - Preacher's megalomaniac meltdown was quite a twist. Not only can Preacher mind **** people, but apparently he can manipulate their physical presence? Obviously I feel bad for Eugene if he indeed was sent to hell, but clearly we've only seen the tip of the iceberg insofar as Genesis's ability goes. Hopefully, Preacher can get Eugene back. If not, I'm not sure where that sequence of events will lead Preacher the character or the show.

Probably my least favorite episode of the season. Jesse is starting to go dark side... Which is a little odd, since Genesis is both light and dark. I'm not sure why there isn't any balance or why one side has more influence than another. Perhaps it just heightens what Jesse's state of mind currently is. It looks like he's starting to notice how off the rails he's going.

finally got to watch this. Watched the first 3 episodes and I'm hooked. Love the Irish vampire sidekick. These shows always fail or succeed depending on the supporting cast, so far Preacher is doing well in this category.
