If I am not mistaken, every QB got sacked. Ronnie lost yardage on his first carry and got maybe two yards on his second.

Beck got sacked and had a pass knocked down with a defender right in his face. I don't know what quarter all of these things happened, other than the first with Beck and Ronnie, but overall, I didn't get the feeling on any of the drives that our Oline was controlling the game.

    Did anyone else feel differently?

Well, if he does win the job, he better make the FG's when they count.

That's why I like this board, we can express our opinions on players, positions, and the game.

As far as the game, thank goodness we have more pre season games and practices.

But Simms and Griese are not their starters. Garcia is. Hell, Bennett's not even the starter. They have him third, behind Graham and Dunn.

We have to tackle whomever is in the game. If its their starter, our guys have to get them. If its their second stringer, tackle him. We just could not get them off the field.

yes, but your missing the point. they had what could be first string QB's on the field, picking apart our 2nd and 3rd stringers. Our first team defense held their own against their first team offense. No worries there. Once we started subbing out our first team players, is when they started to pick us apart. Again, what did you expect? An offence with a QB that has potential to be a starter, working with a mix of 1st and 2nd stringers on offense, against a team of 2nd and 3rd string defenders is clearly a mismatch in favor of the offense.

I'm lost as to why people aren't generally impressed with Henne?

me too bro. im impressed. I was impressed with him always at Michigan... although some may say that sjust because im a michigan fan. But Michigan fan or not... he's a dolphin now, and you have to admire his arm strength, his accuracy, his toughness, his leadership and his poise in the pocket. Sounds like he had a good game out there, and from the highlights, it looks that was as well. Would have loved to see his stats without those two drops from Wilford. IMO... Henne is definately our QB of the future.

I think it has more to do with people wanting Beck to be the guy for whatever reason. IMO Henne seemed to do a very good job tonight and most importantly he throws the ball downfield, stays in the pocket, steps into throws with a defender in his face and has a great arm.

You are correct. If I gave the impression I wasn't impressed with Henne, then I was wrong, and I spoke in error. I AM SORRY, BRO! :wink2: I think Henne is going to be a good QB.

I know its going to upset some, but I do agree. I think there is some serious love her for Beck. I get it. I like the kid. He's smart, he says and does the right things, he's genuine, and he does have alot of talent. He's just struggling to put it all together.

Henne on the other hand, is all those things, and seems to be putting it all together and making the transition to the pro's very well... so far.

Personally... I like them both. I wish them both well. I do however see Henne being considered, at this point in time to be the front runner for the QB of the future title in Miami.

I like that too. He throws the ball downfield and with authority. When he throws it, it gets there. It might go past the WR, but it doens't hang up in the air. The guys fires the ball with something on it.

Look....wonder folks...its in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins to have BOTH Beck and Henne look like studs....Not sure where anyone said Henne didnt do very well...they just pointed out that it was against 2nd stringers is all...

If Beck and Henne develop into solid starting caliber level QB's...we will end up trading one for a high round pick, which will in turn become a pick to fill a need we have.

LETS ALL HOPE BOTH HENNE AND BECK OWN THE JOINT.....

Yeah most here were upset when they drafted Henne so he was coming into a difficult situation right off the bat. I thought Beck could have been the guy of the future but after watching him last season and hearing how well Henne is doing I just don't him being the starting quarterback for this team in the longrun.

Im starting to agree. I dont like to say it, because I like Beck, and I dont want to join one side over the other. It just seems to me that Henne is picking up the pro game alot quicker than Beck has, and might have more upside to him at this point. We've worked hard with Beck to give him the opportunity to take the job, and it just doesnt appear to be happening at this point. Henne wont start this year, not with Pennington here. Neither will Beck at this point. So what it comes down to now I believe is who takes over when Pennington moves on... In my opinion, its Henne right now. Which sucks for Beck, and this team. Because he's definately the type of player you want on your roster... but performance on the field should be first and foremost.

Yeah you won't hear Henne and weak arm associated with each other barring injury. The guy has a cannon and is not afraid to thread the needle.

I was a huge Beck fan last season and then I saw him play and it seemed like he digressed the more he played. Another thing to factor in is Henne played against much better competition will at Michigan compared to Beck who played for BYU. Another problem with Beck is the fact he seems to be afraid or nervous to throw the ball downfield.

It is clear Pennington will be the starter this season with a possible start from Henne or Beck which will be determined if Pennington gets injured or if they fall out of the playoff race quickly. I see Henne starting next season full-time.

I cant really disagree with that. I agree with the assessment of Beck for the most part. I try hard not to hold last year against him. That was a brutal situation to throw him into. As awful as we were, with as many injured players as we had. He was destined to fail. It almost makes you wonder if Cam Cameron and company ruined his future, the same way the Lions ruined Joey Harringtons. Just simply too early to throw him into the fire. It seemed like Beck is still having a difficult time adjusting to the NFL game, where so far... Henne seems to be getting it.

No matter who gets it... That doesnt matter. I want one of these guys to be the guy. It would be so great to finally have a home grown draft pick become the QB of the future for this team. Id be happy with either one, right now though, it seems like its definately in favor of Chad Henne.

I couldn't watch the game live, so I tried to read as little as possible. I stayed away from ESPN and all the other web sites, just so I could watch the game on NFL Network at 4 oclock today with an open mind.

What happens? My Direc TV takes a dump a half hour before game time.:tantrum:

sometimes my dvd burner goes nuts for no reason or power hiccups and I lose the game to that point, frustrating as hell. I started burning a dvd AND recording a vhs just in case for important games.

    Live from the Internet.
I thought our young players did a well job.
I was impressed by our new DEs.
Imma John Beck fan, but after watching Johnny, and then Henne, the second one clearly stood out. Nice to see our NT bringing pressure.
Jake Long owned Gaines Adams all night.
And its scary to think that he is only getting better.
Ricky..wow. Im telling you...he is BACK.
Now, i want to see Chaddy play in next game.

I've watched the first half on NFLN and there are a few things that stood out.

Our 1st team defense looked pretty good. With Merling, Langford, and Ferguson as the front 3 we were able to get pretty good pass rush along with a LB core of Roth, Anderson, Ayodele, and Crowder. Imagine inserting Holliday and Porter into that mix?

I think you'll see the pass rush even better.

Jason Allen and Yeremiah Bell seemed to fly around the ball. They were both at the line, moving before the ball was snapped and doing some good things.

Our LB's are pretty poor in pass coverage. It seemed to really be our ILB's who struggled most--Torbor, Ayodele, and Crowder.

Our DB's made a few plays, but they had some chances to make plays and didn't--J.Thomas, Travis Daniels, etc. Jason Allen almost made an awesome INT.

John Beck looked pretty good. I don't know if that 3 second clock is a good thing for him. It's clear as day that the first thing he looks for is the dump off or throw away. The only poor throw he made was the 1st pass to Hagan. Other than that everything was there. Going back to the point of the clock, my example is the screen pass to R.Brown. He immediately threw it in the ground. I don't know, but I thought he could have waited for it to develop a little bit longer. Still, I thought it was a good showing from Beck.

I did have a feeling that Henne just looked better. Maybe it was because he threw it down field a bit more, or the innate feeling for the new guy to do well. I don't know. He had some real nice throws.

1st half (haven't watched the 2nd yet, it's on now), the WR's weren't that bad. Ernest Wilford dropped a ball, but it was a tough catch. I didn't see Hagan drop a ball, or anyone else.

Dan Carpenter doesn't have a bigger leg than Feeley. I just don't see it.

Ricky Williams looks absolutely freakishly amazing. He almost broke one unti Talib made a helluva tackle.

Ernest Wilford didn't drop that ball. Helluva throw by Henne, but a very nice play by Aqib Talib.

I looked at that play a number of times and concluded he incorectly interpreted the struggle going on behind him. Jake was fighting like a mad dog and holding his guy off but I think Beck believed they were upon him. If he had slid to his left even two yards, he'd of had three more seconds.. I judged it a bad decision, that was perhaps prudent anyway.
