The Nice Guys: Starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Highly recommend this movie. From the writer/Director of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," which is very underrated. Recommend that too. A buddy cop (well, Private eye) Noir story set in the 70's, with plenty of plot twists and fun characters. The most surprising part was Ryan Gosling's comedic chops. Throughout the movie, he had me cracking me up. Wasn't expecting him to be as good as he was, but I'd like to see him in more comedies.

The trailer isn't that great and really doesn't do this movie justice.

I took my 4 year old to it. And he sat through it. It was solid movie. I agree not the greatest, but solid family movie.

That movie was absolutely hilarious. Very well done. I loved every second of it. It definitely felt like a buddy cop movie straight out of the 70s. The story and pacing were excellent, and the acting was phenomenal!!

I finally got the chance to see Deadpool. Although I enjoyed it, and thought that the writing and tone was perfect (along with of course casting Ryan Reynolds), it wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. But that could likely be due to the limited budget and first time director. Still, very pleased, and eager to see more and how they incorporate the character into other movies.

Took the family to Ghostbusters. was pretty good flick. hard to beat the original, but 100x better than GB2. Kate McKinnon was really good and Kristen Wiig is always funny. Melissa McCarthy was meh. good reboot with some laughs.

I really enjoyed GB2, but I was 11 years old back then, so my judgement was likely different, lol.

Without spoiling too much for anyone who hasn't seen it, I thought that the general outline was a bit too simple. I felt that they spent way too much time on just a few things in the second half of the movie, when those could have been simplified/faster, and then lead to a bigger, better last 30 minutes or so. Again, likely due to limited funds and a director getting his feet wet. I'm certainly not unhappy with it.

Anyone NOT using , watching Kodi? Amazed by the selection and quality. Watched Silicon Valley and Game of Thrones and Brooklyn, all were really good.

It appears Kodi will be an option for live sports as well, truly amazing to see how streaming has arrived. Like Netflix on super steroids.

Saw they had NHL games , not sure if they were available live though. It would be sweet if live NFL games will be streamed.

Saying that, the selection and diversity available now is pretty incredible.

Wild Tales: A Spanish language film, consisting of 6 short anthology stories, centering around the theme of revenge (mostly dark comedy). This a good ****ing movie... All six stories are engrossing and fun to watch. One of those movies you don't want to end. I hope they make a sequel. 8.1 on IMDB, and 97% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. If you have access to the internet, it shouldn't be hard to find online. Watch it. You're welcome.

Went and saw Star Trek Beyond today in iMAX 3D. was very impressed and very happy. action from beginning to end. Story was okay, but I'm a big fan of the cast, so they compensated.
Plus, it was kind of sad to watch Anton in the movie. He played some good parts. Sucks dying like that.

Jason Bourne - it was ok. I expected much more but it was still mildly entertaining for me. The script/plot was not as strong as I wanted it to be. Action sequences were more of the same people are used to seeing in this series or in other movies. Dialogue didn't seem to have much thought to it. Characters weren't developed enough. Damon looked like he wasn't engaged in the role like I hoped. The pace was a little slow at the beginning but it picked up in the later stages.

The guy who plays the murder suspect in 'The Night Of' is in this. He plays a tech guru guy and his acting is not bad given it's just a minor role.

SO you would say its not as good as the previous Bourne movies starring Damon then? What about compared to the one with Jeremy Renner?

I just watched Suicide Squad. Basically, everything I read in reviews is right. The soundtrack is terrible. Writing is bad. The action is kind of boring. Villians are going down as the worst ever. Finally, the movie fails in editing.

Saying that, the movie can be enjoyable. If it is your right kind of stupid, you can have fun with it.

Will Smith is fun again. Margo Robbie is a great Harley. Captain Boomerang and Killer Croc are actually in a movie and not redone to be weirdly realistic, however, not realistic because it is freaking Captain Boomerang and Killer Croc (I am getting tired of realistic takes on superheroes. If you are not Christopher Nolan in 2 movies, third one is so bad, then don't do it. Embrace the campy. Super heroes are not realistic). Amanda Waller is pretty cool.

I did not like the Joker. He did way too much whisper talking and was too fidgety.

If I were to grade the movie, I would give it a C-.

No one can live up to BAS Harley. At least in my opinion.

Well, BAS Harley is one of my favorite characters of all time. I thought Margo Robbie did a really good job portraying the character and making it her own.

She isn't perfect. Used a little too much of her sexuality for me. Other than some minor nickpicks, I loved her as Harley and I hope I see her in other movies playing the character.

Edit: From the trailers, I was very wary as well.

I just wish they would have went with "insane Lucille Ball" type of character that Harley actually is. But I'll go into it with more objectivity then I would have before your take.

    I hate Gotham.
I only watched it because it was fun to hate watch and wasn't boring. Ever since Goron murdered someone, I dropped the show.

Also, they kind of did go for the "insane Lucille Ball" type of character.

She is nuts. She is a bad guy. And she loves every second of it. She is a fun character who is nothing like I would have ever expected to exist in the DCU.

I do not know if it is because of the reshoots that she is like that. The scene where she is a weird sexualized acrobat who licks prison bars like she was in the trailer is not the full Harley that is in the movie.

I've been reading about the Suicide production miscues... Basically, WB gave the director 6 weeks to write the script, forced reshoots to make the film more upbeat and fun. And decided to let the company who edited the trailer, edit the movie (which I guess is really apparent in the overuse of ****ty pop music in the movie). And apparently, the movie needs to make 800 million to break even lol.

Warner Brothers is run by morons, in other words... Marvel and DC (WB) are the only supehero games in town. They have a license to print money, basically. And yet, they can't stop themselves from doing everything *** backwards. Suicide Squad is a primary example of their idiocy. You've got Will Smith, the most bankable actor in Hollywood. You've got a rising star in Margot Robbie (who's an absolute dime piece). A really interesting and compelling story with villains taking on the role of expendable "heroes." And yet, you rush production to meet an arbitrary release date, dumb the story down, hand editing over to a company who edits trailers, **** over your director, keeping the film PG-13, all the while chasing 800 million dollars to just break even.

Rather than take their time, create a long term plan (like Marvel) for a series of franchises that accumulate into Justice League, handle their IP with care and consideration, WB keeps throwing **** at the wall, hoping it sticks. DC/WB have a 0% chance to catch Marvel. Nolan's Batman trilogy is as good as it will ever get for them, in terms of quality and financials.

We can blame American viewing standards for that though, no? Based on the movie that WB made, they estimated it'd gross 125-140 million its opening weekend, and the film looks poised to surpass even that figure, slaughtering the previous August record of 94 million. If it's got action, great visuals, awesome special effects, a hot chick, and Will Smith, who needs a good story or anything like that amIright.

    I thought Suicide's budget was only 175M.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, their insider is saying 750-800 million to break even, despite the budget being listed at $175 million. I don't know how that all works... I hear what you're saying about the American viewing audience. But they're going to lose money in the long term (as they probably will with Suicide Squad) and never get the ROI that Marvel is. Which is just bad business.

That is the budget after masterful Hollywood accountants work the budget.

Plus they have to give enough money to return the investments made by investers, which is how BvS can make almost $900 million and still be a disappointment.

Bascially, it is a lot more complicated than I am capable of explaining.

Batman vs. Superman Extended Edition: Much better than I thought, but because I went in with low expectations. Put away your brain, and you can really enjoy this one. Still didn't like Eisenberg (easily my least favorite mainstream actor).

10 Cloverfield Lane: A masterful suspense-thriller, right up until the very end of the film where the "twist" forces you to suspend disbelief before you're even ready. Otherwise, very good watch.

Ditto. I came into it from not having watched the original cut..... and thoroughly enjoyed the extended version. I thought it was done quite well. Felt they did a great job through the first half of the movie setting everything up, and every scene seemed meticulously done to me. Just a total attention to detail. Plus I liked how they maintained the suspense of who would be good, who'd become bad, or who'd be the first to turn on the other. Plus the level of badassness that they made Superman was pretty awesome.

On the other hand, I felt Star Trek was a bit bland and lacking backbone [despite the blockbuster hype it received], with an uninspiring cliche-esque dialog. Just seemed like another Hollywoodized cookie-cutter type to me.

Wow, good thing you didn't watch the original cut. I felt the complete opposite after watching the movie. I guess that is what happens when you cut 30 minutes from a movie. The original cut was so jumbled, I left the movie with a headache. I generally do not get headaches.

Basically, scenes that connect plot threads together, creating a coherent narrative. The theatrical release felt like random **** was happening and characters motivations changed on a whim, with no justification or explanation... Having seen both, the only conclusion I can come up with for why the theatrical cut existed, is because WB thought 2:25 min was more palatable for repeat customers/viewings. Otherwise, the there's no logical explanation.
