We get it. You hate Tannehill, and it seems generally everything else. Nothing is ever good enough. Yada yada yada.

I choose to see the positive and the whole picture.

    Yep.

I hope I can enjoy the chest puffing in 2016 if the team takes a step and makes the playoffs. It will be "Ryan led us to the playoffs" and not "what a great team effort"

Rooting for the comedy, no doubt.

What? Played well enough to "get wins"...how do you figure that?

Ive said numerous times Ryan will rarely be the reason you lose a football game, nor will he likely be the reason you won. Id LOVE to hear your argument against that.

Denver game, led us to 36 points, defense crapped the bed. Carolina game, had lead in 4th quarter, defense crapped the bed.....

and there are several more, those were the first ones to pop in my head...

Detroit game, Theo Riddick for the win, Tannehill had led us to the lead, again.

It's not that hard when lack of football knowledge and hatred doesn't blind people.

    Lol Detroit!?

Denver he certainly did. GB he played well for a half and still had ball with a chance to close it.

    Detroit?

    Lol

Was the amount of sacks taken accounted for as well? Not saying this to crap on your post or anything, because that is great research. I'm just wondering, because Tannehill, in his first year alone, took almost as many sacks as Manning during his first two years (RT's 35 vs Peyton's 36).

Not so fast. A quarterback affects how often he gets sacked, just like a batter affects how often he gets walked. Dan Marino is the classic example. Joe Namath would never take a sack if he could help it, but Bob Griese would.

I'm sure Tannehill was being coached to hold the ball and take the sack if necessary; it seems clear that Manning wasn't being coached that way (or if he was, he wasn't paying attention).

Colt QBs were sacked 62 times in 1997, the year before Manning got there, versus 22 sacks his rookie year (all suffered by Manning).

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/clt/1998.htm
    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/clt/1997.htm

They finished 3-13 both years. They actually had more yards rushing in 1997 than in 1998, though they didn't run well either year. So I doubt the offensive line can be given much credit for the fall in sacks.

It is subjective. Some QBs, are better at avoiding sacks than others.

So, going by the point you made in the second line, wouldn't it come back to the coaching staff?

I only looked at passer rating and components of it (comp%, Y/A, TD%, and INT%).

But no question Tannehill had it much worse than Peyton sack-wise. In both eras, sacks per season tends to average around 37-40. Tannehill had 35, 58, 46 and 45 sacks, while Peyton had 22, 14, 20 and 29 sacks. So good point that OL was better for Peyton than for Tannehill (not a surprise eh?).

Yes, Green Bay. We had the lead, an idiotic timeout and some bum scores the winning TD.

Tannehill on the bench after giving us the lead....again.

Yes dude. Detroit. He led us to the lead and Detroit won on the last drive, because nobody could cover the great Theo Riddick.

It's just something to consider. Even Keith Sims, during a radio pre-show before the Pats game have said that the Dolphins have done a piss-poor job on protecting Ryan Tannehill. But, also, to Keypusher's point, it could also be a sign of how Tannehill was coached re: what to do during an impending sack.

Not necessarily, no. Presumably the staff is taking the QB's abilities and experience into account. If they think telling him to get rid of the ball means lots of interceptions and that he'll never learn how to go through his progressions, they're going to tell him to take the sack. If they're coaching a football prodigy like Marino or Manning, they're more likely to let him do what he wants.

Tannehill's biggest fan wouldn't deny that he was a very raw rookie; part of the reason the Dolphins sold themselves on him as first round pick was that his college coach was coming with him. He was never going to get treated like Peyton Manning.

Do you realize how many points our offense had scored to that point?

Why can't we just hold hands and say Ryan has underperformed PERSONALLY thus far then move forward in hopes that Gase can do "it" again?

Trailing only Peyton Manning and Dan Marino.

I like my QBs to elevate and not be so neutral for lack of a better word. He has so much ability, yet seems to not be able to deliver when we need it. (3rd downs and 4th qtrs) his surroundings have been putrid no doubt, but he MUST get better as well.

After three series, many players on the Dolphins look like they need to be playing better. Lots of guys.

But there is only one player whose continued ineptitude makes me want to vomit, and that is Dallas Thomas.

Why? Why is he still on the field? Why is he starting? What the heck is going on here? I'm sick.

This is why nobody takes you seriously and you're a running joke. It's one thing to be clueless when it comes to football but good lord dude at least learn some reading comprehension. You butchered what I said so bad it's not even worth schooling you anymore. Some people are so ignorant they don't realize they're ignorant. Its a dangerous combo. For your sake I hope ignorance is bliss.

He makes it easy. Unfortunately I expect we will be picking in the top 10 this year. If thill doesn't improve we will be in decent position to draft a new QB and save that money to upgrade the rest of this talentless team. I expected this season to be a long one and it doesn't sound like they've done anything early on to change my mind. Just not much talent on either side of the ball.

We all know you never played above an 8th grade level. It's painfully obvious. I like you more than FinD, you make me laugh while he just confuses me cause its like he is in a different universe but I'll admit he knows more about football than you do. You thinking my posts are drivel is extremely reassuring that I know exactly what I'm talking about. If I ever found myself agreeing with you I'd have to re-access my position on said topic.

Actually ... he was on the field. GB kicked a field goal to get within 4. I believe like 4 minutes left. Got one first down. Penalty to get another. Needed one more. Went from the 20 to the 37, 12 yards on offense with a 5 yard penalty.

Lamar Miller ran for 2 yards on 3 carries. A couple incomplete passes. The offense failed, just as much as the defense. Philbin failed everyone.

So, you have 3 major points in this thread:

    1. No two QBs are in the same situation.
    2. I'm misrepresenting you.
    3. I think everyone is out to get me.

    Lets start with #1.

I think that proves you've said your point is #1.

    Let's tackle #2.

Well, the fact that I proved #1, shows you're worng about #2.

    As for #3.

    WTF are you talking about?

Now as for why you think 1, 2 or 3, I have no clue cause there's no facts behind any of it.

No 2 QBS are in the same exact situation. That's a fact. I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about that. Just takes a bit of common sense. I appreciate you repeating my posts though. Just not sure what your point is lol. There's only 1 miami dolphins team, therefore you won't find another QB with the same exact situation as Ryan tannehill. I don't know why I even bother.
