I've watched said games..twice. Just poking fun is all. So wait, when Ryan is efficient than our defense becomes very very good? Yep Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm still hoping someone will clue me in on why Jamil Douglas has fallen off. Wasn't he showing more promise than either Thomas or Turner last year?
Talk of his "promise" was entirely premature. When the pads came on and he faced live opponents in a real game, he got abused for the most part.
Absolutely totally the reason most of us want Thomas gone. He is a worse guard than Jonathan Martin was a OT.
Albert has never or seldom been an all out player in preseason. He finished last season healthy, played in the Pro Bowl, and worked out hard all off season. The line will finally gain it's identity when Tunsil is permanently made the starter and Thomas is flipping burgers somewhere. Maybe Chris Grier can contact Ryan Grigson and con him into trading for Thomas to reunite him with Philbo the Clown. Philbo loves him.
Where's Samson Satele when you need him? I think Pouncey sliding over at G could work. Can Brenner be a good C?? Kind of a serious question.
You think I judge QBs on wins ehh. You have 3 choices. 1.) Show me where I said anything of the liking. 2.) Apologize for confusing me with someone else. 3.) Continue looking like a tool by making up cliche BS. Your move. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We already tried Pouncey at G and frankly he doesn't have the strength to anchor in against better DT's. His best position is at center. Taking someone who is more than competent in one position and moving them to a position they are not as good at and bringing in another player to take Pouncey position makes us weaker. Not stronger. Now you have three positions to worry about along the interior. Tannehill will need to be filled adelantium to make it through a season at that rate.
According to PFF Douglas( ratings were poor with only Thomas and Fox with lower ratings He allowed the second most QB hits and 3rd most QB hurries on half the snaps of Thomas If you translated Douglas with a complete season of snaps he would have blown away even Thomas with QB hits and Hurries. As far as pass blocking Albert...+5.3 James...+1.5 Pouncey..-0.9 Turner...-4.0 Fox....-19.8 Douglas...-20.1 Thomas...-21.9 As far as run blocking Pouncey...+1.4 James...-5.3 Albert...-7.4 Douglas...-10.7 Fox...-17.2 Thomas...-23.2 Turner...-24.2 Take it for what you will but it looks fairly accurate
Samson Satele is still a FA right now and Philbin cut Brenner Sept of last year. He was picked up by the Broncos and went to the SB with them. We're currently transitioning Anthony Steen to backup OC.
Satele has not played since his last game with us in 2014. I think Steen can be okay as the backup center. His snaps last week were crisp and accurate.
Been a while. Good to see you posting again. ;-) I thought the line calls were better with Satale than with Pouncey in Lazor's offense... Agree on Steen. He didn't look overwhelmed either. I thought Jamil Douglas was overwhelmed at both OG and OC last season.
I thought the same thing. Steen is squatty too with short arms and those kind of guys are usually better off at center. Douglas had never played there before last season, and they try to make him into a passable backup center after the season was underway. Douglas killed a few drives with bad snaps, though I blame the coaches more than he. Had we kept JD Walton last season as a backup Center, and used him after Pouncey got hurt, we may have won another game or two. Granted he is nothing special as a blocker, but he had started at Center for the Broncos at least two full seasons, and he could shotgun snap with consistent accuracy and good velocity. Douglas's lob shotgun snaps, or dribbling the ball back to Ryan were awful. Once we saw Douglas struggle with shotgun snaps, if it was up to me, Ryan would have worked strictly under center from that point on.
