How many QBs have had similar conditions over a similar sample size?

I think basically that's the crux here. Wilson is the most exciting QB to watch but people mistake excitement for excellence. He was horrible for half the season last year and then got hot when the schedule served bottom 10 defenses. Two years in a row he serves up horrible first halves in the playoffs only to get hot against prevent defenses in the second. It's exciting to watch but a far cry from excellence.

You are aware that he's only had one season rated under 100 right, and that was a 95, with a 4 year career rating over 100, right?

If passer rating were all I was basing my opinion on then I think we'd be in agreement.

And you're aware I don't give any credence to stats in football being able to tell worth for an individual other than field goal kickers. QB rating is an offense stat not a QB stat

That was quite the post you quoted.

I'd like to point out, that the pro-Tannehill crowd didn't appear until a very strong contingent of posters started blaming Tannehill for seemingly all the problems with the team, from the deep ball, to defense, to poor coaching decisions. It wasn't like a group of us just started posting pro-Tannehill stuff all the time because we love him.

There were people who wanted Nick Foles over Tannehill. IIRC one of the posters in this thread still thinks Kaepernick is better than Tannehill and was critical of Ireland when he didn't outbid Washington to trade up for RG3.

Yep...Foles, CKap, Bridgewater, on and on. It was crazy, and also resulted in the arguments you still see continuing today.

    This thread again? LOL

The "Yeah, buts" need to give it a rest already. Quit obsessing over ESTABLISHED/ACCOMPLISHED players in an attempt to justify the existence of our own.

If Ryan Tannehill felt as sorry for himself as half the posters in this thread, he would be Tim Couch.

Luckily he is a tough SOB physically and mentally.

If Tannehill faced as many strawmen as there are in this thread he would be a perennial All Pro.

Horrible? Relative to what? His average passer rating was 95 over the first 8 games. If he was horrible then whats the word for what Tannehill has been over his career? Oh, I think I know why he was "horrible," because the team was 4-4, right?

Better than those who settle for passer ratings and Sporscenter highlights.

Like a crap passblocking OL and crap for WR, yet puts up the 2nd highest (and climbing) passer rating of all time?

    NONE.

Do you know what a passer rating measures?

Judging by your post you either don't know (doubtful) or you're purposely twisting it's meaning in order to make a point (likely).

If you've watched Wilson play vs Dallas, which was the topic before you guys hijacked the thread, by all means share your thoughts.

Passer rating was a team stat, then in 2014 it was all about the QB, and now its back to strictly being a team stat.

Yeah, it measures a passer's rating.

    Couldn't agree more.

So many pundits keep saying others are "bashing our QB: when intact no-one does. Pretty pathetic isn't it.

I'm enjoying seeing all the ignored posts, knowing it's not me they're arguing with, yet I'm supposedly the problem.

    It's amazing.

to set the record strait, yes, I wanted to draft Kap and was about the only one, his play on the field has justified the notion..

I also wanted to draft Andy dalton..when everyone else was sh@@ing on him...not me.

Wanting to move up to get Rg3 was an answer to a specific question where context is important, I liked him coming out, when it came down to it, I wanted to do everything to draft Wilson, even if it meant doubling up on qbs if we stayed the course.

Kapernik is still playing I believe, he was sabotaged out of a career and needs a change..
