I think the "learning" comment is regarding his route responsibilities.

Wow.. not many coaches will tell a player to toughen up in public like that. Really like this Gase guy's attitude.

Time for the regular season to finally start so we can see how good (or not) he really is.

Well, I don't know. I mean, that's certainly one way to do it. Not sure if I agree or disagree. You have to be very careful with some of these things. We'll see....

good. let's see if he responds. He has made a great call here. Miami has to know what they have for now and future. Gase can't afford him to be a diva. Pieces here are being compared to pieces in Denver, and Parker is our D Thomas.

I dig Gase's style. Parker is starting to look a little Yatil Green'y to me. Hope thats not the case. But it sounds like he needs to man up a bit.

Not sure Diva is the correct word here. From all accounts he is a great kid. China Doll might be more accurate.

That was a zinger aimed right at the kids toughness. Let's see if he responds with good, physical play.

To me, this is a great sign (of Gase's head coaching qualities). He sees more than we do, and thinks Devante could be doing more to physically prepare and condition himself. You have to hold your guys accountable.

frankly he needed this. he is depended on as an Alpha X. If he isn't then we go back into the draft next year to get one

Kinda mixed messages considering Gase was overly cautious with him. Now calling him a *****.

Worst case scenario Parker knocks out "crazy as hell" Shawn Jefferson during one of Shawn's padded drills...

yeah but Gase starts a certain way, same thing with Dallas Thomas. But after a while, if the performance or maintenance or desire isn't there, he will make the move quickly

When you've got one of the toughest pound for pound receivers playing on the same offense, the bar is set high.
You can look buttery soft pretty quickly if you fall under that bar.

Which makes me like (and the Fins depend) on Carroo more than ever. If Stills the deep threat Gase likes, and Carroo shows up, I am confident that Parker won't be resigned when the time comes. And the next WR they draft will be more like Carroo and Landry. I think thats the direction they are going anyway.

With today's players, you are correct. They prefer to be treated like babies and handled gently. Of course that is what is wrong with players today. They want the money, but many of them don't want to play even if they have a hangnail.

A player like Parker would have never been able to play under a Shula, Lombardi or the great head coaches of the past. Because players back then weren't playing with guaranteed money and they didn't miss games because of a different ailment each week.

Heck, Bob Kuechenberg played several games with a broken arm and he got mad because a reporter asked him if he should be playing with the injury.

Gase is 100% correct in questioning Parker. Because it doesn't matter if he hurts his feelings or not. Parker isn't doing a single thing to help the team if he can't get on the field. Gases is merely telling Parker to man up and do the things nevessary to avoid so many injuries. At this stage of his career, Parker appears to be injury prone and he certainly doesn't need to be coddled by Gase and the coaching staff.

I think players get a bad rap as being soft these days. Sure some, are softies. But QBs regularly play pretty hurt. Rivers, bone on bone. Didn't Marcia Brady play with 3 broken ribs and a broken finger a few years back. Andrew Luck was injured.

Sometimes, playing injured will hurt your team, so it's a balance.

Yatil Green tore his acl early in camp. Acl tear isn't a matter of being tough. I tore my acl and played 3 basketball games after just a week off but I'd never make it more than a qtr until hurting it again. You can run in a straight line all day, just can't stop and cut . Is there something else besides an acl tear in regards to Green? If not it's kind of hard to fault Green for having an injury that has absolutely nothing to do with how tough or injury prone you are. He had his surgery at a time when the recovery rate wasn't so great.

Landry is awesome at what he does. He comes up huge on 3rd and short. He's an outstanding slot guy. He isn't a #1 stud though. You can't line him up on the boundary and expect him to beat double coverage or even man coverage consistently. We need a legit #1 down the field threat. Parker has the physical skills to do that. He needs to tighten his route running and could stand to gain some quickness (something Landry is awesome at). Landry is a stud on short and intermediate routes in the slot but we need the guy who can get us 10-20 yards consistently and occasional get us the 30+. Hopefully Parker is that guy. He's shown the ability to make the big play, winning a jump ball, now he needs to work on the "little things" that Landry excells at. Unfortunately, Landry doesn't have the physical skills necessary to be that true #1 boundary guy.

I liked the Carroo pick as well and think he can become a solid 2 down the road but he doesn't have what Parker does physically.

People used to say the same thing about Antonio Brown.... he is only the best WR in football. Size and Speed isnt everything. If it was, Dorial Green Beckham or Chris Conley would be the best WRs in the NFL. I hate the idea that #1 WRs "have to be over 6'2" and run 4.45 forty time". Jerry Rice didnt or wasnt. The best WR of today doesnt. #1 WRs come in all sizes at all speeds and Landry is capable of being a boundary guy, he did at LSU and will do again (now that he has an opportunity to be more then a slot guy, which is somethimg I hope you are aware of, im not sure by your post)

As far as Parker goes, he is proving to be soft as Charmin and proving to be the wasted pick I thought he would be. I dont see Parker being better then a #2 on any team. Because SIZE isnt EVERYTHING.

Gonna hold you to this prediction because I think Parker was a very good pick. If he can remain healthy (big IF I know) he'll turn into a #1 IMO.

    Well we'll see who's correct!

And yes I'll admit you're right if he doesn't produce because of health issues.

I had concerns drafting Parker because we have a history of taking guys with injury red flags and it always seems to blow up in our faces. DVP is proving to be a guy with mountains of potential but he cant stay on the field. We have to keep Stills and might have to find another #1 guy to pair with Juice. It is incredibly disappointing.

He's isn't considered a potential #1 because of his size.

DeVante will be fine. He has to learn taking care of his body is more then just weight room. It's eating correctly.. Hydrating correctly.
