Now it is time to set the starters, and Gase has to think long and hard who he trusts. I hope he is objective with Ajayi and Cameron. Personally,I don't trust Ajayi. I think he is better suited as a short yardage back/change of pace. He is a complete liability catching the ball. Despite ll the drops, we really have no choice about Cameron. Our offense depends on the TE so much, we need the "threat."

I actually hope the other TEs get their chances. We have seen what Cameron offers and its not been a pretty picture. IMO, the other TEs should get the look and the opportunity in the red zone.

As for Ajayi...I would be scanning the waiver wires for RBs. I have to believe there will someone available on Sunday afternoon that is just as good as Ajayi. But, that's Gase's call and he'll make these decisions and he'll be accountable to how they play out. I trust he makes the right decision. He knows way more about the roster and the players and how they fit and how good they actually are than any of us. Last night, JA looked like an UDFA...but thats just a snapshot.

I think passing on Henry in the 2nd is going to be a decision that we really regret. I think with Henry we are a playoff team.

he does look good! Ajayi against 2nd string competition looked worse than 2nd string. He needs to be below Foster and Drake

I don't see how, unless he plays defense too!

Ajayi struggled last night, but there's some overreaction here. Drake is clearly better suited to be the 3rd back until he can prove that he can run through the Oline and not just around it

Ajayi has struggled all pre-season. He cannot catch clean and looks a bit clueless

I think the 2 safest RBs are Foster and Drake(3rd round pick), so it seems to me that this is between Williams, Pead, Ajayi and Thomas, for most likely, 2 spots.

I would take Williams and Pead at this point, Pead as the back up, and Williams as the 3rd down back, he is a good blocker and receiver, and has the speed to pop one off.

Ajayi has some issues, and Thomas is slow.

I really miss Charles Clay and Lamar Miller (before you got into the reason$ as to why they're not here, save it)

So strange Ajayi's catching skills dropped off so much from college. He was touted as being the most complete back coming out of college. Boise St. even lined him up outside to take advantage of it.

Drafting Henry in the 2nd would have had to include signing a player like Sean Smith, which I would have been all for. He's the FA I believe would have had the biggest impact on the team this season.

Maybe, but controlling the clock and making Tannehills life easier would have a team wide effect.

Ditto. Franchising Clay would of costed us a little bit more, but he would of been ours to negotiate with, alone. As for Miller... Totally ****ery on Miami's part. He's about to lead the NFL in rushing this year. Metrically he's a monster over the last two seasons, now on a team who will actually run him. This is why Miami is constantly in the hunt for 8 wins every season. We allow our talent to walk and spend the 'savings' on losers to fill in holes short term.

Tannenbaum is looking very reminiscent of his tenure in NY, which he supposedly learned from...

You forgot to add, that guys like Dallas Thomas are still on the team, at a position in charge of protecting arguably your most prized asset.

We also don't draft linebackers around here, and when we do, we let them walk (granted NY gave him a shipload of cash).

Given our level of competency, I'm actually shocked we managed to retain Reshad Jones.

We've been cutting corners in the run game ever since Tannehill got here. So damn frustrating to do that to a young, raw QB, just plain foolish.

Foster will probably be *fine* with 12-15 carries, but his ceiling is low imo. He has the best vision feel for the flow of the blocking scheme, but physically he's just not the same. Top end speed is gone as is some of that violence he had in his lateral movement. Ajayi hasn't done anything at this level, and neither has Pead aside from being a bust in StL. Drake has an intriguing skillset, particularly his feet, but the kid is made of glass and doesn't know how to run between the tackles (yet). At best our run game will be adequate, imo, but it won't be a plus with this personnel unless Gase works some serious magic.

Drafted and developed Miller just in time for him to go elsewhere as he's improved his game by huge strides and is coming into his own. Good job, team. Again this has just been a huge disservice to Tannehill. So many of the League's best QBs had really good backs behind them as they developed. I hope we look for improvements as other teams make cuts.

And yes, as mentioned, Derrick Henry is an animal. I mean last night was borderline unfair. I'd trade next year's first for him in a second. Imagine how much he and Murray are going to help Mariota's game. TEN definitely a team to buy stock in for the next 5 years given the QB and all these draft picks they have.

You know I'm going to have to eat some crow here. Before the preseason I was super high on Ajayi saying he was going to step right in and we wouldn't miss Lamar. I think I was wrong!

Ajayi has looked horrible this preaseason and the fumbles don't help! Foster has to be the starter and I'm scared he goes down at some point. Drake looks decent but still young and needs more experience. Maybe Ajayi is the kind of back that needs 10+ touches to get going I dunno but if we can't run at all were dead before the season begins.
