I disagree. There's been a lot to criticize about Gase irrespective of record. The biggest for me is the flat start and lack of adjustment during the 1st half against NE. If you can really adjust (let's assume for a moment NE wasn't just letting us score.. personally I don't think they did anyway), then this shouldn't wait till halftime.

Some of those timeouts in the first game were circumspect and it was a bit disappointing in the first game we kept Lazor's playbook for a good part.

Anyway, this is nitpicking because Gase is new so I'm not against our HC. He's for sure a LOT better than Philbin. But to say only the W/L record is the problem I really disagree with.

I still believe in Gase. On Sunday I saw a lot of players who just werent talented enough to make plays on defense. Mainly the LB core and secondary
Still though I like what Gase has done. Not going to burn him at the stake for a slow start against NE while the offense adjusts to real games in a new system.

This is his second game as the new coach of a bottom of the basement team. He's contended in both games. But we as Dolphins fan as so jaded with all of the losing season that no one gets any semblance of a chance to get this thing turned around. Were like a semi that's gone down a cult-de-sac and cars are all parked along the street. We need to back up a little, crank the wheel, turn, back up, crank the wheel, turn, back up and then you can get the truck turned around and out of the dead end. I like what he's done. Previously in these kinds of games the players had already given up.

Unfortunately, for Gase, he will be the fall guy for Tannebaum's incompetence.

    Well said, cbrad.

On the positive end of the spectrum, I love what I saw from RT in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half against NE. And to be fair, the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] half was quite solid outside of a two questionable decisions. I didn’t see anything negative in the Seattle game either, particularly knowing what could’ve been given the now infamous drop. So I’ve got few complaints about RT to this point. Best of all, his footwork and pocket awareness are well beyond what they were this time last year and he’s scrambling outside the pocket at the rate I’ve asked for.

By and large the receivers have done everything I suspected they would under Gase: Stills is stretching the field, Landry is converting reliably, Parker is solid but not quite in the shape I’d like, and Cameron is catching the easier ones. Even the RBs are basically what we all thought. Although I think Drake can help the team immensely given Ajayi’s plummeting stock and the fact that Foster will likely miss time somewhere along the line.

But the NFL is about winning. Miami had more than their fair shake up in Seattle and they found a way to lose. It was a bitter, soul-crushing kind of defeat. And they follow that up not with a powerhouse of dominance but with possibly the worst half of football possible in NE. Miami has some bright spots, no doubt. But the NFL is about winning and Miami has squandered several opportunities so far. Let’s be honest.

But we’re only emerging from preseason and we’re only starting on this new path so I’m anxiously awaiting the Browns.

Talk to me in six weeks.

Bears fans told us he would keep us in games. So it's a Bear market for Gase right now.

Probably mid season we'll start to see more of a Bronco market.

Calm down a little with the Gase love. Some of you guys are talking about him like he's Bill Walsh, he's 0-2 and the Bears offense sucked last year.

Just to reiterate, cause it seems like some people are confused.....no one here wrote that article. No one form the local media either. Its actually from a national guy at Sports Illustrated.

He also lays out his stance, pretty clearly and succinctly.

I think the usual group of haters read the title and not the article, and rushed to judgement. I think this because their gripes were actually answered in the article.

Two things in a definite shortage in today's NFL (maybe it's always been that way):

    1. Franchise QBs
    2. Good HC's

For me, Gase passes the 'sniff test' - he certainly doesn't set any alarm bells ringing like Rex 'Big Talk' Ryan - you just have to give him time to build something - its not going to happen overnight.

Its going to take 2-3 seasons to rid himself of Tannanbaums salary cap buffonery (hopefully he'll be sent packing this offseason) - John Idzik paid the price for trying to do the same thing (along with poor draft selection admittedly) in New Jersey after Tannenbaum dug them a salary cap hole that they are still struggling with.

Even the guys like McDaniels (who I think will be an awesome HC when he gets the chance again) get very little shrift once the media sink their teeth in - fans are forcefed the parity mantra and have come to expect success immediately without understanding how much work (and a little luck) it takes to make a successful franchise.

Tannenbaum didn't make bad salary cap decisions this offseason. In fact, he's been pretty savvy and frugal.

The trade he made with Philly netted us 3 starters, 2 of which are playing really well.

2-3 years my ***. New systems take half a season.

Were not in any kind of cap hell...

Some of you guys are so impatient that its comical. How many rookie head coaches have come into the NFL in the last 30 years or so and had immediate success when taking over a franchise that hadn't won in a while? Its a really, really short list. Holding Gase to a higher standard than basically any other head coach in his position is simply ignorant.

We're impatient? We're not the ones writing or glorifying an article stating he's gotten almost everything right after the 0-2 start. That's the definition of putting the cart before the horse.

Why is anyone surprised? Tannehill is held to a different standard than other QBs, so why wouldn't they hold Gase to a different standard?

When the sched came out I expected 0-2. Once we got into game weeks I thought we could beat these teams given health and smaller matchup things. Ultimately though beating those teams with those coaches in their building is a tall task for a rookie HC with a new staff.

Some promising things to pick out though. The author is on-point looking for Tannehill making strides under this QB whisperer type of HC. But it's hard to know much about a HC and his team after 2 games. And road games for that matter. Only thing I'd venture into is that their general demeanor and focus seems improved to me.

Big picture, talking wins and losses, I don't know if this team can overcome the holes at RB and CB, especially in this division. 8-8 wouldn't necessarily mean Gase isn't the guy.

if gase is getting everything right except the record then so did philbin and campbell... this team is the exact same as when they coached. plays for 5 minutes of a game the other 55 minutes of the game are an embarrassment.

You know that moment when you read a post and 'thank' it only to read a response that kills it and you feel stupid? ;) You just did that to me again, lol.

I would knock Tannenbaum for not filling needs. I don't have a problem with the $$$, I have a problem with the strategy. I don't like Suh's big contract (stupid direction to take the franchise IMO). I don't like handing Pouncey big money (not that big a fan quite honestly). And as we were heading into the offseason thinking, 'we need a franchise CB, a franchise MLB, a franchise DE, a competent G or two and now a RB' what exactly did we come away with?

Did we get long-term answers at CB, LB, DE, G or RB? Haha...no, not really any of those if you ask me. We got a couple solid starters on D via trade and we opted for our next LT as opposed to grabbing a DE or CB which would've been really a lot more valuable. And we opted for 2 more WRs basically ignoring LB and G.

The budget may be looking alright but quite honestly we'll have about the same needs going into next year as we did this year. Tannenbaum also has a habit of moving up in the draft which costs picks. I like the Baltimore style of stockpiling mid-round pick myself. To me, that allows you to flesh out a really strong roster.

Tannenbaum strategy strikes me as short-sighted and impulsive but I'm sure he feels different about the moves he makes. ;)

Maybe I should explain, for those who, for whatever reason, can't understand...

We're two games into the season with a new head coach, and we have posters already writing Gase off, and comparing him to Philbin. Not to mention, many of these posters also happen to be posters who think Tannehill is not good, and is responsible for our poor record the last couple seasons.

Which makes me wonder, if they think Tannehill is no good, and that he kills our record, why are they blaming Gase for losses that are clearly (in their minds) Tannehill's fault?

To act like we almost could have won against NE or that our offense was somehow effective when the game actually mattered would be sincerely disingenuous. We were down 4 TD's and the game was pretty much out of hand before our offense did anything meaningful.

I think we'll crush the Browns quite honestly. :) But they're devastated so what kind of information it'll be IDK. I look to the games just beyond to really tell something. That'll include Bengals, Bills, Jets, Titans, and Steelers. As the season heats up I think we'll learn a lot more than we know now.

An "easy" win this week just takes the pressure off a bit and improves the outlook. We all need a little boost of positivity. There's been Waaaay too much over-analyzing, we're all guilty of it.

If we were 2 and 0 would you be trying to sell that hes a HoF coach?

Only issue I have is the offense and play calling looked much like Lazors.

I think the proof is on the field thus far. Yes the defense is not so good, yes the offense is still starting slowly, but this team looks worlds better than they did last year. I do not expect to make the playoffs this year, this is a young team with many flaws especially on the defensive side of the ball. The offense is still polishing up Gases system.

Give it some time people before we start running around with pitchforks.

Execution? Lazor's offense was a lot of read-option. Not seeing a large percentage of our offensive plays run out of that.
