In this article he says he wouldn't mind playing in Miami, which I think would be pretty cool. He also talks about how he should be focused on winning now and how he has already had all the fun receiving stuff to show for. I know a lot of people don't like loud mouth WRs, but lately they (Randy, T.O.) have proven that these kinda guys CAN control themselves.

    http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/content/sports/epaper/2007/12/27/a4c_johnson_1227.html

Maybe a swap of 1st rounders and we get 85?

    No thanks

I'm not a fan of the guys that like to run their mouths and draw attention to themselves. And to be honest, from reading Parcell's comments, I don't think he does either.

Sorry Dom, TO was a Jerry Jones move, if I remember correctly.

    From Parcells presser

"On player philosophy: "Traditionally I've tried to get prototypical players at specific positions. I try to look at their background, their character, and some of the intangibles. Then we would incorporate a list of critical factors for each position--obviously those are different at each position. And then we would evaluate each player based on those factors. Then we would evaluate them on their positional skills. So every player will be evaluated on his background, general makeup, critical factors as we set them, and their positional skill. I'm interested in good character people. I don't want problem children."

True, but you also have to consider that Chad's in a position where he just wants to win.

Yeah I think 2006 experience with T.O. kinda soured him on those kind of guys. Did he draft Keyshawn ? He also was a loudmouth at one time too.

    And run his mouth.

Every player wants to win, but some of them (Ray Lewis, TO, Chad Johnson, Joey Porter) just can't help but draw attention to themselves by running their yap in the press. Ocho Cinco has even gotten the attention of the NFL with some of his antics. Not the type of guy that I would want on the team.

We'll have to see how the Phins feel, I guess.

I don't remember if he drafted Meshawn or not.

I live in the Dallas area and my recollection of the TO signing was:
TO was signed in Dallas by Jerry. Bill did not even show up to the press conference anouncing the signing. He referred to TO as *The Player* all season. Bill appeared to have less intereaction with *The Player* than you would think a coach could have with the member of a team.
The friction (Between Jerry, Bill and TO) didn't blow up the team but based on radio reports it is better that Bill moved on from being the Cowboys head coach this year.

Who would be throwing the ball to Ocho Cinco? I wonder how long it would take for him to start throwing a fit. Week 2? I don't think that the Big Tuna would want to put up with another cranky receiver.

It's a shame that we couldn't grab Crayton from Dallas. He just signed a 4 year, 14 million contract.

Don't you notice they're all good players though? One of them is on our team and playing well, one has won a ring, and one has a chance to be going to the superbowl this year. Oh yea, and Randy Moss will also have a chance this year at a superbowl ring. Loud mouth players aren't always bad unless they are hurting the team internally. It's fine if the antics/trash talking are against the other team IMO.

How and when has Chad Johnson been a problem? He has never been suspended, doesn't cause problems in the locker room, fight with coaches, none of that. He just has a personality, what the hell is wrong with that? We need a elite receiver, he would be well worth it.

True. I don't even know why I was mentioning him in the same category as Randy and T.O. He really isn't that bad. He just LOVES attention. He would get a lot of attention here, since he would undoubtedly be the #1 guy.

You're wrong again. Sorry. Keyshawn was drafted in 1996 by the Jets. The Big Tuna (not Fat Tuna) was still with the Pats at that time.

That's because Chad himself started saying 85 incorrectly with his ocho cinco thing. You are definitely correct though and it kind of bugs me too when I hear ocho cinco used for the number 85.

My first impressions of Ocho Cinco (is my Spanish correct:confused2:) were that he was just another show off. Then I started to realize he is pretty funny and he can play. I could be wrong becuase I don't follow Cincy the way I do the Dolphins but I have never seen anything negative out of him. From what I have heard he has a great work ethic but that doesn't sell tickets or command media attention:sad: The addition of Ocho Cinco would be great for Ted Ginn. I'd like to see what would happen if Beck took some snaps with these guys. If the Dolphins can work out something out I'd be gald to have him:thumbup:

[Mod] innapropriate comment[/Mod] Just kidding... couldn't resist...

Chad had "Ocho Cinco" on the back of his jersey before one game. Right or wrong, that's what he called himself, and he's referred to with that name very often in the media.

And for the record, Chad isn't a "problem" guy, like many other vocal players... he just likes to have fun, and cause a stir. He hasn't been suspended, doesn't get into any legal trouble, or anything to that degree, so... I'd LOVE to have him on the Dolphins. I think he's a great player, and his antics are hilarious.

I'd swap 1st rounders with the Bengals for Chad Johnson in a heartbeat.

I think I would have to make this trade. We need an impact player on offense more so than defense. Just imagine what CJ would do for this offense in regards to drawing attention, stretching the field, etc.

Also, this is essentially trading down. We swap first round picks, and instead of trading only picks, and ultimately selecting a receiver (which is inevitable w/ CJ), we basically take the guessing game out of it.

We pick top 10 with a PROVEN stud on offense.

I do realize the consequences of having CJ, but I doubt they will be an issue. CJ knows the situation he is getting into, and I feel he will struggle with the team until we dominate, ala Joey Porter. JP could have said plenty of negative things this year, and has acted with class.

If anything, CJ, as someone else had mentioned, brings fans to the stadium. I don't know, but maybe, just maybe, our team will be more fired up to play infront of a home crowd, instead of a sea of orange.

Ultimately, I see more pros of CJ coming compared to the cons.

Yeh I dont like the diva WR's but to Chads credit, he wants to win. Its not all about being "Ocho Cinco" with him.

I would take him but what would it cost? Im all for taking him, we need to replace Chambers and Welker and are we going to keep Booker for next season? We are seriously lacking in depth at WR. Its arguable that Chambers was really a true No1 WR. Will be interesting to see how this one pans out but my gut feeling with Parcells coming in is we wont be seeing Johnson in a Fin uniform. Shame if im right.

    Johnson/Ginn/Hagan/Carmeillo/rookie?

That looks like a pretty good receiving core to me. I know Hagan has his ups and downs but I think he'll stick around.

If we did this trade tho what pick would we have? Who would we then look at?

I was excited about the possible Gholston/Dorsey/Long outcome but if we trade out of the top 5 that most likely wont be possible. Lariunatus(sp?) might be there if those damn Pats don't scoop him up. In that case I wouldn't mind the trade down.

Only problem I see is who would throw him the ball?

Right you are. We won't be seeing him in a Fins uniform. Think about it for a minute. The guy will be way too pricey for a team that will be rebuilding through the draft. We would have to give up too much.

So you all want to give up precious picks for a guy who cares about how the hell he is going to celebrate his next TD.

    No thanks!

With Johnson it looks decent. Not great. Without Johnson we look bad and i mean bad. Ginn -unproven and no way a starter yet. Hagan- Not consistent enough for my liking and he has had alot of playing time this season. Camerillo- hes made a few catches and hasnt proved himself at all. Dont forget if you throw in our TE's then our receiving corp looks depleted and in desperate need of quality.

I was also thinking about the Porter pick up and what its cost the team down the road. I just think we havnt got the funds to supplement too many "stars" when we are in dire need of decent players all over the squad.

WR's can be got in late rounds and FA, we have way too many other issues to address, I mean we're talking about the #1 overall pick, we have to get maximum value out of it, like multiple picks.

Only in College and in the NFL is trash talking/celebrating/taunting is punishable. I played Pop and HS Football and doing those things was part of the game, made it fun, and inspired you not to be ridiculed. It is people that cry about it the reason that the NFL has changed the rules.
