Say it's time to move on from Thill. I was his biggest supporter and I know it's over for him. He has talent but he's afraid to take chances. If I can admit it then then it has to be official LOL. This feels so crushing that I have to finally laugh at this.
Calling all Thill supporters.......I think it's time, come with me.

you contradict yourself... the reason he holds the ball so long is because he's trying to take a chance for his WR to get open. if he wasn't taking chances still he would have thrown the ball away about 8 more times than he did today.

My biggest concern about Tannehill is that he doesn't seem to have the it factor or strong leadership skills. I think he can be a serviceable QB but he will never be a top 10 QB. I think you build around him until we get a chance to draft a franchise QB. Also probably need to take a guy in the mid rounds that can be developed for some competition.

Yeeeeeah.....it's gonna be really hard to escape criticism this week. Tannehill played a bad game. He made bad decisions and turned it over. He struggled to operate the offense against the Browns defense that really seemed to have no issue making life hard for him.

I'm not sure what the odds are of getting someone in the draft who's better but I know after looking around the league that all but a few teams have been able to find someone who's basically no worse. To me, that means that anyone who wants to move on is pretty much justified.

As we speak, the QBs coming out of college are so well groomed that what we've gotten from RT over 4 years is basically what you'd expect from a solid pick in this era who's stayed healthy and started every game. By that I mean he's got good overall production and has notched several really good games but he's inconsistent and seems to have trouble pushing the ball downfield. He again missed several opportunities today and held onto the ball a bit too long.

The biggest question will always be "are his limitations affecting what the offense can do?"

Today I think they did. He made a couple panicky decisions, missed on a couple throws and avoided throwing it past the sticks early despite the throws being there. He looks like he was throwing off his back foot a bunch today as well.

Like I said...1 game shouldn't change your opinion completely but Tannehill looked like a rookie out there. That doesn't bode well when this is a make or break year.

So, we're just going to ignore Ryan's second half, huh?

Let's face it. Yes, we got lucky with the Browns' Kicker wetting the bed. But if it wasn't for Ryan's second half performance we wouldn't even be in position to BE lucky.

More depressed about not being able to stop Pryor.

You clearly don't watch this offense, he holds the ball, he's got zero pocket presence. He loves the dink and dunk game, it makes him feel warm and tingly inside.

He's holding the ball because our receivers are running combo routes that take more time to develop. He held the ball on that last drive and allowed Landry to make a double move, which put us in position to win the game.

This is also his 3rd week in his third offensive system of his 4 year career. Seems kind of early to throw in the towel, does it not?

I think the point people are making is that evaluations should be all plays. Volume production, highlight reels and a few good drives do not tell the whole story. Tannehill was disappointing today. No way around it.

I think your standards to too low if you came away alright with what you got. It was a bad day for sure.

He had 3 turnovers and a pick 6 against the worst team in the league. This team had injuries including playing their 3rd string quarterback and 2nd string kicker who has no business being in the NFL. 3 missed field goals. And after all that it took OT for this Dolphins team to beat them. At home against the Browns was Tannehill's best opportunity to show what he can do. If anyone can walk away from this saying Tannehill is great and this team has a shot at the playoffs then......I feel sorry you. 5 years later and some of you are still biting the fake hype with this team and Tannehill. Oh well at least I can get some laughs out of this. Looking forward to all the threads discussing playoffs. And threads discussing how Tannehill is better than Wilson, Luck, and every other quarterback under the sun. Should be another great week here.

If we're going to play this "let's talk about the Browns second and third stringers" game, then the fact that we had our third string center in (the guy who is responsible for making the protection calls of the QB) should be considered too.

Dude, come on, he's not it. He doesn't have it. He's flat footed back there, no QB vision, just a guy who gives 100% but doesn't have the mind for a QB. I don't want to see Moore, throw Doughtery out there and see if we find some magic. We're going 4-12 anyway, might as well see if he's got the balls to do something with it.

I consider this thread, after the QB has a QB rating around 95 and leads the offense to 30 points, an organizational moral victory.

We'd have killed for that at any point over the last 12 years sans 2008.

    So hey, progress!

Definitely too early to throw in the towel, yes. But it's also a bad game in a shorter-than-normal 16-game season where every game is going to get analyzed to the Nth degree because the guy's roster spot it legitimately coming under fire.

As for those routes, you're right. But I'm also seeing him hold onto the ball until those WRs are coming open which is too late, even for the deeper stuff. He's never read down-the-field very well which I think is why he's tentative to push the ball. Sadly, for as much as last week was a step forward, this week seems to be a step back.

And ultimately, if RT is a guy who is going to be good and bad depending on what half you analyze, well, he will not have answered the number 1 knock against him.

So far I'd say that physically speaking he's more polished than ever. I think this week shows that mentally he's still mostly the same guy. Oh well, 13 more games to go.

Depends on how you look at it. Tannehill's day looks a lot better through the lens of passer rating than it does from a fan's living room.

This is an emotional time. You can't sign your guy to an extension after the 2nd half in NE and you can't fire him after today. All you can do is watch the season and make a decision after week 17.

To me, this week was not progress for several reasons. Mentally, RT didn't seem up to the task.

As far as the win, it's great. And we can add to that the fact that Landry has put up 250 yards in the last couple weeks. Dude is producing big-time.

Eh. Either we play the results or we don't.

We can't say it doesn't matter if he plays well in a loss and then kill him when they win.

Either both are true or neither are.

The truth is he's good enough to keep you in games despite a bottom 5 defense and possibly bottom 3 run game. Not sure what or who elevates your team in spite of those things.

His passer rating of 93.9 is only a bit above league average. More importantly, Cleveland allowed on average a 101.8 passer rating in 2015 so relative to opposition it's below average.

And what about this year so far?

    Actually, I'll help you out.

Wentz put up a passer rating of 101.0

Joe Flacco's passer rating against the Browns was 72.6

Prior to today's game, Browns have allowed an average passer rating of 86.8.

Ok, so if he doesn't have "IT" then what do we do.. Throw Moore out there? No chance in hell do I take Moore over Tannehill. Did he play great today? No. Did he do enough to put his team in a position to win the game? Absolutely. But he is not the immediate problem on this team. We HAVE to fix our Defense. We are 31st in run Defense, and 17th in pass defense. Pop Warner has less missed tackles than our Defense. If you're going to criticize any aspect of our team it has to clearly be on them. Pryor almost single handedly beat us today.

You don't use a sample size of 2 to base conclusions on. Browns gave up on average 27 ppg last year, same this year over first two games. It's not like there's clear evidence they have a much better defense. So using 2015 at this early stage in the season is probably the right thing to do.

Just means the results haven't varied sufficiently to change the conclusions.

Anyone who attempts to justify any player on this team from !7 to 93 is blind. I saw a bad offense and a bad defense get lucky vs a 3rd string QB and a wounded defense in their home opener. They all are bums imo.

Problem is we watched the game. "led us o a win"? If you want to believe that then go right ahead. just dont be salty if people say he led us to a loss the previous 2 weeks. Both comparisons are equally ridiculous.

Some folks would rather worry about their Tannehill arguments than the state of this teams a whole.

I haven't been upset with his play coming in to this game, he has had 2 good half and 2 less than good half. But I saw nothing today (with solid protection) that gets me excited. He needs to play better, everyone needs to play better. We got very lucky to beat the worst team in the league..no one gets a gold star from me.
