Which Tannehill shows up tonight?

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on how well Tannehill will play tonight. Especially after such a Jekyell/Hyde game this past Sunday. Honestly, it really just befuddles me how he can look so good on one play, then turn right around and look so bad on the next. So, my question to my fellow Dolphans is what do you think he will do tonight?

In two career games against Cincy, Tannehill has averaged just 215 passing yards, and no passing TD's. That kind of performance is likely to translate into a loss IMHO. Especially since Cincy's run D is pretty good (3.7 YDS/A), and they're getting Burfict back. I really think they're gonna just pin their ears back and blitz Tanny like no one's business.

I'm going to say 200 passing yards, 1 passing TD, and 2 interceptions, but I really hope I'm grossly underestimating what he actually does.

    What is your prediction?

Until I see him do well over an entire game, the prediction is he'll have some great drives where you start to believe in him, but then have all kinds of 3 and outs or short drives ending in punts.

Not sure about the 2 INT prediction though. Tannehill's generally been pretty secure with the ball last few years so I'm not predicting more than 1 INT (if even that) in this game.

Cincy is not as good as last season, having said that, I think it's an ugly loss.

If Ryan's numbers look like that OP we will get the doors blown off of us.

Which Ryan shows up is the million dollar question every week. I'm liking Aqua's theory in this one.

The same tannehill shows up every week. When the game plan is good, the blocking gives him time and receivers get open he lights it up. When some of those components don't work then not so much

Based on how Thursday games typically go for the road team...the *bad* Tannehill.

And if that happens, people will draw conclusions about him as a franchise QB from tonight's performance. Which is totally misguided. Thursday games in the NFL rarely tell you much about a team, especially for the visitor. Adding this game is one of the worst things the League has done recently.

Obviously i'm just pissed at our schedule. First 4 games sent us on the road 3 times, once to the opposite corner of the country, and once for a Thursday. Ugh.

That's also a function of playcalling, and one of the sources for optimism we should have for a team sitting at 1-2. For too long (going all the way back to Sparano and Philbin), we haven't seen a coach make a lot of second half adjustments. Say all you want about our first half performance, but I find it promising that a team learning a new offense can show such tremendous improvement and be known as a "second half team." That's something we have been missing for a long time.

When we get Pouncey back to help solidify the line and protection around Tannehill is when I suspect we will start to see improvements in the first half. It's a process. It takes time.

I just don't want to see the strip sack. Ryan needs to sense where the pressure is coming from and throw it away.

I don't know about that. My recollection was thar aside from last year, Philbin' s teams would get in a hole and then make decent halftime adjustments. We just would start from behind and couldn't make up the running difference. I haven't seen anything indicating this defense is making any corrections whatsoever.

Not establishing a decent yardage run on first down has been a thorn in the Dolphins side the last 3 games. Its difficult for most QB'S to be put in a constant 2nd a long situation and thrive. If we can get decent running yards on 1st and 2nd downs then I think Tannehill will have a good game. I'm not making excuses for him though, done with that.

The Ryan who shows up tonight will have a few good drives, but mostly just another lackluster performance filled with preventable sacks and a terrible pick. I hope I'm wrong but he's just not growing in critical areas of the position

I have no idea how he will play tonight. I assume he will play rather inconsistently as he has for the entire time he has been the Dolphins starting QB. That means he will make some plays which makes you think the light has fully switched on for him and then some plays which makes you wonder if he will ever get it.

The one thing I have no doubt about when it comes to Tannehill is that he will show up and play as he has done every game since joining the Dolphins. He is tough as nails and he has taken hits over the last 4 plus years which would have knocked most of the QB's in the NFL out of games.

Unlike Misi, Foster, Jenkins, Albert, and Pouncey, who seem to always be injured and miss games every year. Personally I have never understood why Misi is still a member of the Dolphins. Because he is hurt more than any LB in Dolphin history.

Offerdahl was injured much of the last three seasons he played for the Dolphins. Yet he was selected to the Pro Bowl the first five years he was in the league and he wasn't considered injury prone during those first five years.

Misi on the other hand has been injured every year since signing with the Dolphins and he can always be counted on to miss a few games during the year because of one injury or another.

As far as Misi's play compared to Offerdahl. Misi is a below average NFL LB and Offerdahl was a Pro Bowl caliber player who is a member of the Dolphins, Ring of Honor. In other words, Misi couldn't carry Offerdahl's jockstrap.

The first half was turned on that 3rd and one, Tannehill decided that was the time to throw a bullet to an open fullback instead of floating it in to get the first down.

I'm done with Tannenhill. Used to defend him all the time. Can't do it anymore. He's another Chad Henne, a backup who'll never reach potential. I'm done wasting time on hoping he turns the corner. He is what he is at this point.

I just think some people are so desperate for a QB they want to believe Tannehill is a starter. I wish he was so they could stop having QB be a desperate need, but they're still sadly looking for one. Should've kept that losing streak going in 2011...

This team is one of the worst teams in the league. They should just activate Doughty and let him start. He certainly couldn't do any worse leading the team than Tannehill has done.

They are a 4-5 win team maximum, no matter who the QB is this season. I just don't see Tannehill being around after this season.

Conspiracy theory: Ryan Tannehill INTentionally threw that late pick to try to get Gase fired. The offensive line is in on it as well.
