Still need a more reliable source, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Bears FO and fanbase knee jerked to one Brian Hoyer game (he is who he is at this point) ..... given how long Cutler has tortured that franchise. The flip side of that coin is he already knows Gase's offense.
I know, I saw it also. Again it wouldn't shock me if he was able to come in here and play better than Ryan. Not hard to do really. But to me I dont want to spend resources to upgrade to a QB that may get me to 7 wins instead of 6. Now if its Cutler plus a 2 for Ryan with the plan to draft for the future?? Its a good trade for us.
Heres Armandos article shooting that down... Would Jay Cutler be a serious possibility for the Dolphins? The answer is no. No. No! "Never happening," is what I've been told by folks familiar with the Miami Dolphins thinking. "Has never come up. Never happening." And so if you are thinking the Dolphins are about to dump Ryan Tannehill by the November 1 trade deadline or after this season to replace him with Jay Cutler ... no. Just no. Why is this a topic? Well, my friend Mike Florio asked me about it on his highly entertaining (at least when I'm on) PFT Live radio show on NBC Sports Radio. Then he wrote about on ProFootballTalk.com and then radio shows elsewhere picked it up. And then it got onto some social media circles. And now it's a thing because Tannehill didn't play great in a 22-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night. Except it is not a thing with the Dolphins. They haven't discussed it. The salary cap ramifications are moot because it is not being considered. The Dolphins, at least, aren't planning for it. They are not going to do it, based on what I've been told. Next....
Don't like Cutler at all. The only part I like is it forces our hand to draft a QB and use Cutler as fodder until they can build a better team.
Only if it includes 2 years worth of day one draft picks in a swap for Tannehill, and Tannehills wife stays
I could get behind it if he was just a temporary band aid and we drafted a QB in the first round next year and sit him behind Cutler for a year or two.
I like Brian Hoyer better than I like Jay Cutler lol. However, I would consider this a possibility next season. I mean if we do part ways with Tannehill, I could see Ross/Tannebum showing interest in Cutler. With that said, i'd still rather have Brian Hoyer who is also a UFA. If Tannehill isn't the answer I will fully expect this franchise to try and catch lightening in a bottle with a player like Jay Cutler, or Tony Romo even. We love those band aide players.
Sounds rock solid. I'd order yourself a custom Cutler Dolphins jersey before everyone else already sports 'em.
Even if Cutler is traded, it is a season and a half fix. Miami still drafts a qb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If Tannenbaum trades him, don't you think it is because of the evaluation by Gase? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am one of those who has never felt Tannehill is the long term answer for the Dolphins at the QB position. Yet I have zero interest in seeing Culter come to the Dolphins. I just don't see him being an upgrade at the position for this team. I believe after this season Gase and the front office will decide to select a QB in the first round and that QB will be their future QB. Unfortunately with having to select a QB in the first round, this will prohibit them from finding an impact player on defense in the first round of the draft. Like it or not, with all the needs this team has and the age of their DL, this is going to be at least a three year rebuilding process.
Hope it's BS. Cutler coming here would just be the latest in a long line of embarrassing personnel decisions.
here is what I am not getting. Some of you talked about how great of a QB guru Gase is and what a great job he did with Cutler to make him super awesome, yet you don't want that same super awesome QB that Gase made so great...... interesting.
