Cameron wake has been nothing but a class act down here in miami. This guy to deserves to at least play in one playoff game before retires and it sure the hell not going to happen here.
Take whatever we can get and get him on a contender before the trade line passes!

Think he's too old and makes too much. Not sure who takes on that contract than needs a DE that bad

I am sure he would renegotiate his contract to get out of this **** show.He would be a great situational pass rusher on the right team.

if you're him, you'd restructure to make less money in your later years to get traded? I dont think so. I wouldnt mind unloading him. And I do think he'd be great on another team. But he'll be 35 at the end of the season. Taking less money now is just silly.

I guess if you made your money and want that ring thats what you have to do.Remember some of these guys actually love the game and its not all about the money.I get the impression wake might be one of those guys.

At this stage of his career and the fact he is only a situational player, the Dolphins would be lucky to get a 7th round draft pick for him. Yet because of his contract, I really don't see any team wanting to give up a draft pick and take on his salary.

I would have no problem trading him if that was really an option. Because the Dolphins definitely are going to have to start rebuilding again in the off season. I think it is more likely they will end up cutting Wake after the season and hopefully for him a playoff team will sign him and he will finally have a chance to be on a playoff team in 2017.

He is suppose to be paid nearly $10 million in 2017 and that is just too much for a situational player, even Cameron Wake.

Not sure why this seems illogical to you, as many an aging player has taken less money to go somewhere to have a chance at a championship, Wake is already rich.

He's also not breaking the bank at 7 mil, he probably wouldn't need to restructure.

Offering to trade Cameron Wake to a perennial Super Bowl contender for Anything more then a can of Vienna Sausage and a Snickers bar would be a sign that someone in the front office has not only a clue, but something resembling class and recognition of a good player giving his all for the team.

    That being said.....................................................................

    Ain't gonna happen.

Not unless Ross gets a clue that one season with a brand new coach is not going to be anywhere near enough to dispel from this team of the residual contamination of the Parsparaphilbinitis Athleticicushyperoverstimation Syndrome which has been clogging the training room, clubroom, and front office for the past seven years.. or more.

Baltimore should never have cut him. He'd have a superbowl by now. Opposite Suggs he would be an even bigger menace.

Teams don't give up assets even a 7th rounder for an old, non-performing player. I, mean, unless it's Tannenbaum. He'll probably trade a 2nd rounder to NE when they confuse him and make Tanny think Wake actually plays for NE.

I don't think he even played in the 4th quarter of the last game. I kept looking for him and did not see him. What exactly are they saving him for?

I think it's becoming clearer that this might not really be a bad idea. It's pretty obvious this roster needs a major overhaul. That's got to happen through the draft. He's not getting any younger, he's not going to be a part of a rebuild here. That being said, if you can't at least get a 3rd for him, I'm not sure it's worth doing. At least with a third you've got a chance at a decent player.

As for trading him out of respect for him and getting whatever (nothing) in return. That's just stupidity. That's not going to help improve this team. I love the guy, and what he represents, but I don't care if he gets the chance to win. I want this team to use it's assets (whatever they may be) to improve its own chances of being a contender, not to enable a current player to win elsewhere because his career is in its twilight stages.

I hear ya but I would take anything for him at this point. He is never going to help us win with this team at his age and we need all the draft picks we can get.

Huh, I thought he went undrafted and was at the Giants camp, then released, then the CFL.

I guess in my head I'm thinking: I need to take care of myself and my family for the rest of my life. Hopefully the rest of theirs. And while he is rich, we don't know what he has by way of investments, assets, or any kind of business plans after football. At some point taking $4-$6 million less a year to MAYBE win a ring doesn't seem worth it. That's just how I see it... Im a year older than he is. I'd take the check.

The thing about the bolded part is, if you haven't earned 50 mil+ over the last decade, then you can't really put yourself in his shoes, I mean sure, you or I might take the money, but we don't have 10's of millions of dollars in the bank, which kind of makes it impossible to have his perspective.

There is also the dedication, suffering and sacrifice to a craft, and his far exceeds ours, he has quite literally poured his life into this sport for a decade, this is his 8th year in the NFL and he's never even been on a team with a winning record.

That is very hard for us to imagine, he gave up everything and dedicated himself to making himself into, as he put it, "the ultimate defensive weapon". He gave up partying, he gave up the food he was eating, he gave up video games and TV, actually removed the TV from his apt, and slept, ate and breathed football, training like a maniac, and does not know what it's like to be on a winning team in the NFL.

The only time he's been on the field when a playoff berth has been clinched is on the losing side, he's seen the other team celebrate, on the other sideline, but he does not know what it's like to be on that other sideline, you and I have just as much playoff experience as Cam Wake...

I also think that 4-6 mil is exaggerated, 1-3 mil paycut is more likely, if any, because he's proven he can still get to the QB, in his very limited snaps, he's got good pressure, the Panthers would be the most likely candidate, they could use some more passrush and they're 20 mil under the cap, a trade with them could be a very possible thing.

Well, your wish has been granted! Cameron Wake will get his playoff game this season!

Interesting note. In games where Wake has at least 0.5 NFL sacks, the Dolphins are undefeated. In games where he does not have a sack the Dolphins lost all their games.
