I was watching video and a good point was brought up. With the amount of injuries piling up, one might look to the fact that there are more injuries due to less padded practices. Talks about it at the 3:50 mark. Most injuires are happening because they are not used to getting hit as much on bodies which in a way makes them........ weak?

So, I am a Bills fan, in case you haven't noticed by my username/avatar. Been popping around your board on game weeks for a few years now. Now I feel I have something pertinent and coherent to add to this argument. On the eve of the regular season, I saw an episode of "Good Morning Football" on NFLN and they had on Anthony Munoz (HOF OL for CIN) and he shared similar thoughts. At the time I made a thread about it over on the (Bills) board.

Here is the link but I will copy/paste here also for you. http://boards.buffalobills.com/show...layers-did-this-to-themselves&highlight=Munoz

An opinion I have had for awhile was echoed today by an NFL HOFer and I think it's worth a thread. It is in respect to the rash of injuries by every team, increasing every year. If you want to blame something (and have some ground to stand on), the CBA seems to be the most likely reasoning for these injuries.

By legislating out much of the practice schedule, limiting pads/hitting significantly, and restricting the amount of time coaches can spend with the players, they have successfully made the players NOT properly conditioned for football. They don't know how to get hit, and aren't as tough (resistant to injury) as they should be. It's like a fighter going into a fight with limited sparring, he's going to get killed.

This thread comes on the back of comments made by HOF Bengals lineman Anthony Munoz on the (admittedly crap show) GMFB on NFLN. In a moment of clarity they brought on a HOFer. Munoz did not speak directly of the CBA but spoke to it's rules on practice. He said when he played, they were hitting and in pads every single practice besides the day after a preseason game. 4 to 5 two-a-days per week, etc. The point was not to talk about how tough he is but to lowlight the practice policy, saying he doesn't think his body would have held up with such little contact and practice, since practice gets you "used to" being hit. Said it's "tough" to not hit in practice and be expected to go 100% on gameday.

He also shared opinions about the preseason, saying that if the practice schedule is so restricted, the starters should go out and play hard in those games, and for much longer than they do now "not just 2 series in game 1, a quarter in game 2, etc". Rex is not the only person in favor of the preseason.

Personally, I think he has a valid point. With all of these restrictions, it seems obvious to me that the players (by way of the NFLPA) have not only made the game more dangerous, but also significantly decreased the quality of product on the field.

Turns out choosing laziness over hard work doesn't pay off in the long run. Sounds great though right? "more money for less work"........

we also, plain and simple, have very injury-prone players, year in and year out.

Fans of other teams have been coming here for years during our match-ups, and the ones who are respectful are always treated well and shown respect. So I'm glad you finally chimed in and said hi.

Also, it's no secret that the Bills have had our number for several years now- they are definitely the 2nd best team in the AFC East most of the time. This should be a great game though since Miami had one heck of a "turning point" performance last week wile dominating one of the best in the AFC. One stat that the media hasn't picked up on yet is that we've sent starting QB's to the bench in 4 of our 6 contests, so we are punishing some people despite what the media says.

I don't know if we stop your run game enough to win, but we will be trucking right back at you behind our starting offensive line. That's another thing that's been overlooked- last week was the first time all 5 starters have taken the field together. Injuries have whooped us early this season and most have been unimpressive (guys tripping, guys hurt in walk-thrus, non-contact injuries, etc.). That goes back to what you said though....you can't play a contact sport and only have real contact three hours a week.

Anyway, good luck with the game this week.....but I think we steal it in a close one.

PS- don't try a post like that on the Jets or Pats boards; it is never pretty! I posted on a Jets forum a few years ago and four people got banned for completely cussing me out. So that's kind of become my tradition- wish them good luck, get cussed at and the report them while laughing hysterically. You Northerners just have a lot more passion than we do. =)

Some of this goes to the trainers. I believe prior to Parcells we had a season full of injuries. I recall reading a story that the trainers stuff was left at the curb. I believe we had no significant injuries the 1st year.

These two teams have always had a mutual respect for another since the rise of the Pats. After all, both of us have multiple players from each squad.

    Good post, always welcome here.

We're hopeful in this one because our oline is finally intact and they showed it last week. That's always something you guys completely dominated.

Well if I did post on the Pats board I wouldn't be so friendly....lol

Already got banned from there. They are the scum of the earth.

But as for the bills and dolphins, well lets just say it's not the 70's or 90's anymore. The best way to bring.people together is a common enemy.

    Cheers!

But I hope we manage to somehow beat you guys even with dareus, woods, mccoy, watkins, and possibly clay out.

Not hedging bud. I shouldn't need to tell you we got the pats without brady, the rams without the dline except donald, and the niners on a qb change. And you guys just lost Reshad. You play who is on the schedule.

But I do think, if neither team lost anyone to injury, the Bills have a much better roster, that is the meaning of my point. Our arguably top 3 players are missing, evens this one out a bit. Go ahead and flame me for it, this is my opinion.

But you can bet if you do win, your fans on here will be making those excuses for me, talking about their own team, discounting the W. I know this because on our board there are tons of folks discounting our win streak due to these factors on the teams we played.

And "wing eater" isn't even the worst thing I have been called today. As a matter of fact, I kinda like it. I do eat lots of them. Not a big sushi guy though, until Sunday
