Yesterday was targeted 16 times. Allowed 10 completions for 122 yards and missed two tackles. He had two passes defended, 3 all year Go after this guy all day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe he has declined significantly, maybe he just had a bad game or is in a slump. He's a proven talent, so he can't just be called a bad player. Gase will have to weigh it on the day, see how he's performing.
I actually expect him to have a strong game Sunday, he's getting crucified up here by everyone, especially in the media. If he plays like crap again, he's most likely done.
Revis himself admits that his body is breaking down and he can no longer play like he used to. http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/jets-darrelle-revis-my-body-s-breaking-down-1.12517231 This seems to be getting into his head as well. Check out his poor effort on this play:
Feel bad for him. He was elite. If he had played like Deion Sanders he probably has a longer career. But he played for Rex Ryan and Bill Belichick so he was a complete player and tackled, taking physical abuse in the process. I respect him more for it, but it shortens a CBs career, as we are seeing now. Is Revis going to make the HoF? I don't know his career stats.
Seeing that I immediately send my most physical guys towards Revis.. I throw the ball to the TE on his side, I run to his side with Ajayi. I send Jarvis and Caroo at him. Gray too. I beat him up.
Hard to base a defensive back's entry to the Hall of Fame on stats, usually when they're elite teams avoid throwing their way like they have leprosy, so their numbers take a hit.
If Revis made the HOF what team would you think he would go in as? PS - What's up with the space bar not working in the quick reply mode?
I think that it depends a lot on the individual. Rod Woodson was a much more physical player than Revis, and he played ST too. He spent 10 years as an elite cover corner for Pittsburgh, even after coming back from a torn ACL. Then, he went on to play seven more seasons as a high quality DB for the 49ers, Ravens and Raiders. Dude had 8 interceptions, 95 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 FF, 42 PR, and 15 KR in 1993! (I watched almost all of the Steelers games back then, so I saw a lot of him).
Its an issue with Chrome and how its not working properly with the board. Some other boards of the same type are having the same trouble, and some are not. We have a thread about it in the "site suggestions" area. I've reluctantly switched to Firefox for the time being.
What's he's done before is nice and all, but **** that, you make him prove he cam still play at that level. If he can so be it, if not beat his *** like a drum in a Def Leopard concert.
Man, I would love to see us throw all kinds of WRs his way. Devo's physicality, Landry's quickness and Stills' speed
Revis has been struggling all year. He is clearly not the player he was even last year. He even approached the Jets before the season started about moving him back to a Safety position. It's a good thing for opposing teams. By his own admission his body is breaking down and the best part is he KNOWS it. That is in his head every time he is on the field, a bunch of doubt that he never had before. Throw at him and throw at him a BUNCH!
