Yeah, Jay Ajayi, the O-line, and the coach's commitment to run has made the Dolphins fun and interesting to watch as a team, going past just being a Dolphins fan. The identity has also added glimmers of hope to the fanbase, because running the ball travels. It works in freezing cold, in rain, in blistering heat. Obviously, everyone wants to see how long this can continue. O-line and Ajayi health are probably the critical points to that. But say they stay healthy... ...here's hoping we've caught lightning in a bottle.
those stats are ballooned because of the two late runs in each game. I am not discounting it because if we continue to beat teams up, those late runs are more possible
To be fair, those late runs happen because we beat the snot out of teams in the 1st three quarters and players get tired- especially in Miami. The temperature/humidity has always been the 12th man in South Florida; we just have an owner that doesn't understand that. It's a big reason why Miami has always had a great home record until recent years. Just look back at our schedules in the 80's and 90's- when New England, Pittsburgh or Buffalo was leaving 10 degree weather to play us in December in 87 degrees and sunny, it was no secret that their bodies just couldn't adjust. Ross is the only owner in the history of the franchise that hasn't capitalized on this.
Spot on Keyfin. The weatherhas always been a big thing for us. Perhaps now he has his roof he will see fit to schedule more games for 1pm start times.
That's exactly the point I wanted to add. It's not just Ajayi getting stronger but our opponent getting tired.
The highlighted part isn't exactly the most impressive part to me (even though it's damned impressive). I think we can all agree that the last two games have really helped that stat. The one that impresses me the most is the first down run average (7.2 ypc). That basically opens the playbook for Miami. I doubt it stays there as the year progresses, but anywhere around 5+ would be extremely helpful.
What is o/s to me isnt the 50-60 yard runs, it was that when he got the rock, he went down 6-7 yards a pop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am pretty sure I saw that over the last 2 games his Yards After Contact was like 4.3 per carry. That's Crazy!
