I've mentioned it several times over the past three weeks- this team is playing at a different level than we've seen for quite some time now. The run game is just brutal, the D line is crippling QB's and this team is starting to believe that they control their own destiny. I know it's only 3 straight, but with a weak schedule and six so-so/bad teams in a row, we could realistically rattle off another 5-6 in a row before facing Buffalo and New England to close the season.

I'm still going to harp on those early losses to Seattle and NE as well- 17 points left on the field in one game and poor effort to catch the game-tying pass in another. That was with mostly our second string line- we could so easily be 6-2 right now, with our only losses coming with the third string linemen on the field.

So I'm asking you fine gentlemen; is there a change in the air in Miami? Have we finally found the third round of our team legacy? Is this the team we've been waiting almost two decades for...weak secondary and all?

I think it is, my friends. I think things just got real in South Beach and Miami is about to become a football town once again.

I think the team is pointed in the right direction, there is finally a coach who has vision of how he wants a team to play, is having his players buy in to it and will be here for awhile.

Let's see how we fair on the west coast for 2 weeks straight, against a couple teams we should be able to handle, first.

The team is finally playing complementary football. Jets defense scores late and we answer with a special teams touchdown. Gase definitely has this team playing like they believe in each other, unfortunately I don't know if the roster has the talent yet. He needs a good draft and free agency period next year and I will be fully convinced that we are close to being perennial playoff contenders. If we squeak in this year I'll be happy, never know what teams can do when they get in on a wildcard berth.

Home cooking has been good. Let's see if they can keep it up on the road these coming two weeks.

OLBs are.. meh. TEs are managing but they haven't stood out. Where were the receivers today? Cornerbacks are wishy-washy. QB was kind of pedestrian when we needed elevated QB play (might have been due to the receivers). So yeah.. I think you put the right mix of talent under this staff and we'll really be cookin'

We started something great the day we hired Adam Gase IMO. Time will tell how his career as HC progresses, but he's getting these guys playing hard, he's made adjustments to his offense, he's put a good staff in place, he's cut dead weight, and this team is starting to come together. We may not make the playoffs this year, but we're heading in the right direction because we have a leader, and a good coach for once. He's going to learn on the job, but we knew that when we hired him. There may be some growing pains, but it's coming together. We should have beaten Seattle as well. Possibly NE too. So instead of 4-4, we could be sitting at 6-2 or 5-3. If we can clean up the mistakes, and get these kids to keep progressing, we might be able to talk playoffs.

He's been formidable, and don't think I forget that long improvised pass from Tannehill in the Steelers game. He's been blocking well, and is a big reason why Ajayi has been running well. But great dependable tight ends are safety blankets for their quarter backs. We don't have anyone like that right now. Jones and Gray may be on their way, but it's too early to tell.

Miami has to be able to do something if they can't run. They won't get away with dumping the ball. The threat of Ajayi should enable them to go downfield. However, not sure if they have the shackles on Tannehill

I'd be happy if they went 1-1 these next two games. Going 2-0 on the road on the west coast is no easy feat.

If we do split these west coast teams, we would likely only afford one more loss to keep our playof hopes alive and still would have 3 tough road games at Baltimore, Buffalo and New York.

As much as I think we're heading in the right direction, making the playoffs isn't a very realistic scenario yet, IMO.

I think today had more to do with Stills being out. He's the downfield threat. Parker is extremely underwhelming and doesnt appear to be getting open. Stills was missed bigtime today. Landry isn't really a downfield threat. So, options were pretty limited.

we had a really good draft and we hired a real coach. right now our talent level is about 8-8 to 10-6 when fully healthy. we need one more killer draft next season to make the leap of serious playoff team

what also sucks is the ravens defense is going to be pretty healthy when they face us. they have looked average because they had some injuries on defense. we will get a much better team then the one thats played the last month

Hopefully by then our defense will also be healthier with Culliver, Benwikere and possibly Howard coming back.

By the way, as of right now it looks like we're the 7th seed based on win percentage, behind Oakland and Denver.

I like the progress the team is making in the coaching dept. I don't think we have the talent on the roster yet. A little disappointed in the wr area thought that would be a strength. San Diego? Who the hell knows? They could win the Super Bowl or lose the rest of their games. I hope to god we can beat the Rams. I just hope they don't sign Fisher to an extension the day before we play them.:nutkicker:

    Well away from here
We will have our hand full with the Chargers. They have one of the higher scoring offenses in the league; they average a touchdown better than us per game scoring wise. Something is gonna give if we win this game. In all honesty we will need something more from the passing game if we are to win this game. If we don't get something more from the passing game, we will need to run the ball 30-35 times and try to keep Rivers and company off the field, or we will could see us giving up a lot of points.

I'm very worried about this game honestly. If we win this game going 7-4 after the next three games is extremely doable, which i would not have thought possible four weeks ago.

Yep. The Chargers are no joke. Gordon nearly went for 200 rushing today and was over 250 total for the game. This game and the Ravens in a couple weeks are real trouble. On the bright side Gase is definitely legit. Another good draft next year and we should be in the thick of things for the foreseeable future.

I'm not sure the team is so special in and of itself, but we seem to be going in the right direction for the first time in a long time, and that is kind of a special feeling to me.

Below average LBs, a walking piece of toast in Maxwell and a lack of a passing game beyond 5 yards will put a ceiling on us. Maybe Howard can comeback strong and maybe someone will step up Tannehills game on the outside, but it's unlikely and I won't hold my breath. Still a move in the right direction given how we started and I certainly think Gase is showing flashes of what he might be able to build. Drafting well on defense and getting production out of cheap free agents will be critical to getting over the hump next year.

We aren't going to end the year with 11 straight wins, so lets not get too bent out of shape if they go out to the West Coast and lose to a San Diego team that scores a ton next week. However, that being said, I think that its very possible that they could win five games, and maybe six, during the second half. The arrow is pointing up. I thought that this was a 9 or 10 win team before the season, and we may just get there. Then add another offseason in Gase's system for the players and a solid draft, and we could make a real move in 2017.

That's really not fair though- they are 4-5 and last in their division. So if we're going to make excuses to why the Chargers lost to bad teams, then the same excuses apply why we lost to two of the best teams in the league and two more from injuries.

The only "stat" I see in San Diego's favor is that they've been tough at home over the past few years. We should be able to run the ball pretty well though and I don't see it as an insurmountable match-up; they're definitely not on the level of Pitt or Buffalo. It should be a good game but I think we grab the W.
