So, after winning four of the past five games, the team is on quite a roll as we head out on a two week road trip to California. We play at 4pm next week at San Diego, and then at 4pm the following week at Los Angeles. Miami is 0-3 on the road this season, but has clearly been playing better since their last road game at the Bengals in Week 4, and are much healthier than they were back then.

So, what do you guys think our record will be on the trip?

I saw we win both. The chargers game will be real close but I think Ajayi would be too much for them. For the rams game, I think we're just better team even with the rams top tier defense.

1-1 would be my expectation. Are you saying that you think 0-2 is the most likely outcome?

Bear in mind the Rams could make the switch to start Goff at QB. There are no guarantees there, of course, and some are saying he isn't starting yet because he's simply not ready or as good as Keenum. Only time will tell, but it's possible that the Dolphins will face a slightly different Rams teams when they get out there.

As for the Chargers, they seem to be doing a lot better than when we last met. They're having an okay season.

So this plus the fact that for all the success we've seen with Miami lately, the Dolphins are still a team with weak spots and issues. They haven't suddenly become a dominant team. Common sense says that the road to success is progressive and this is still just Gase's first season. The Dolphins flaws will start to show up, just as they did against the Jets, and better teams will capitalise. I don't know how well the Phins will do in LA specifically, I suspect a split, but overall, remember that we do know a lot about this team, and they didn't get swapped out to new identities over night. It's unlikely we'll run the season, and we probably won't make the playoffs.

And you know what? That's okay. As has been said many times, this season is about change and progress, and we've started to see that already. The future is looking bright.

San Diego is going to be hard. They're offense is elite, and their defense isn't nearly as bad as the stats may show. Hopefully the Chargers have one of their "shoot ourselves in the foot" games.

I don't know that we can beat San Diego with our defensive backfield. We'll be lucky if they don't score 40+ on us.
I think we can beat the Rams the way they're playing right now.

Chargers game will have big wildcard implications. Need to win that one.

Good news is that Miami has owned San Diego in recent years.

    Got to come out 1-1.

As good as that Rams DL is, I like our chances to beat them better since their offense is non-existant. I'd think they'd be on to Goff though by the time we come to town. I'm not sure what Fisher is waiting for on that call. Chargers are an up and down team, but they have the ability to be explosive on offense. Especially the way Gordon is playing right now. Throw in Phil Rivers too, and they're a tough matchup.

I'm not really optimistic about the Chargers game, but I expect we will beat the Rams.

Curious to see how Ajayi and the OL function on the road, since the three monster games were all at home.

The Chargers game worries me. They had some great things going on yesterday on offense. I am going 1-1, but we really need to win this one.

I don't understand why you guys keep discounting our offensive potential- we have played zero games this season with a healthy starting 11 on the field.

    - We've had 5 starting linemen for three games total.
    - Parker is playing hurt and doesn't have his burst speed.
    - Stills was sick yesterday and sat out a half.
    - Our top 2 TE's have been out...previously among Tannehill's favorite target
    - Tannehill himself has needed to do little to win games

I know that I'm an optimist that always sees the glass half-full scenario, but we've won these three weeks without two of our bigger offensive weapons. Heck, our starting RB got hurt and Ajayi was the next man up- so it's not like we've had this identity and can't play outside of it. In the New England game, we saw what this offense can be when we go ultra-aggressive and turn Tannehill loose. I don't think a lot of you realize how awesome this squad can be with 11 starters firing on all cylinders- because we just haven't see that yet DESPITE the 3 game win streak.

On the defensive side of the ball, Howard should be back for this trip and it will make a world of difference. Maxwell had a tough day yesterday, but he was locked in man coverage against a motivated Marshall...that's always going to be trouble. So it's not like our secondary sucks- they're also playing next man up and we're paying the price. Yet we're still winning, even without the best safety in the league on the field. The D-line is making up for a lot of that though- Fitz just didn't have any time to throw yesterday and he played an amazing game to keep it close. We are playing pretty good against the run though and forcing quick passes, so I like our chances against most offenses.

Someone mentioned that we were 0-3 on the road- two of those games were with 3rd string linemen and we couldn't do anything offensively. The third one we left 17 points on the field from mistakes, and we lost the game by 2. This team that you're seeing now, they're light years ahead of that former squad. In fact, we haven't lost since we fired some people from those embarrassing losses- it's like we started the season over.

San Diego will be a tougher game, but there's no reason why we can't walk with a W there. And the Rams just aren't scary this season (or any season, really). If we play our game, then we should be 2-0 on the West Coast.
