Clint Capela is coming along nicely. 20 points, 8 rebounds against Rudy Gobert. Nice win.

    8-5. On to Detroit.

Robert Covington the Heats MVP this game. How Brett Brown hasn't benched this horrendous player is beyond my comprehension.

Joel Embiid might be the best Center in the league by the end of the year. To be that big, strong, fluid, athletic and have a silky smooth jumper, shooting 50% from 3 on the season. It isn't fair, and Sam Hinkie needs to be hired by one of the many, many mediocre teams in the league ASAP.

That was Harden's worst game of the year. Our 2nd leading scorer, Eric Gordon, scored 0 points. Clint Capela was the lone bright spot...another double-double against another $100 million Center (Drummond). The kid is gaining confidence.

Ugly game, but another win on the road is great. 3-0 since Patrick Beverly came back.

    9-5.

I mean, Whiteside outplayed him last night. Embiid's offensive skillset is sick for sure, but Hassan owned the paint last night. Unfortunately the guards just sucked. That was probably the worst game JRich has played as a Heat.

Embiid is a rookie who missed 2 years. I like Whiteside, but no comparison between the 2. Embiid and Okafor both had their way in the paint last night too, and they do it on designed plays. Embiid is a superior prospect.

There are two ends of the court. Embiid doesn't play on one of them. Having said that, Whiteside had 32 and 13 vs. Embiid, but somehow there is "no comparison between the 2". Uh yeah, one of them plays both ends. LOL

Sixers fans have always been funny. I remember all the "Iverson is the best player in the NBA" talk.

BTW, Embiid is a a spectacular offensive talent, but he is not a superior prospect because if you are waiting for his foot to fall off again, you can't be a superior prospect.

Doesn't play one end of the court. Lmao. Embiid is 5th in the NBA in blocks, and does it in less than 23 minutes per game. He has a higher block percentage and allows less points in the paint than Whiteside already, as a rookie who hasn't played in 2 years. Embiid forces his opponents to shoot 13.4% worse in the paint, 6.8% on 2 footers compared to 10.7% and 5.5% for Hassan and there's only a 1.5% difference between them on overall fg%. Oh and the Heat have the same (.2 points more) DRtg with Whiteside on the bench while the 76ers are 6 points worse with Embiid on the bench. Not my favorite stat overall, but does show the impact each player has on their team overall. But unfortunately he doesn't play both ends. Whiteside is a better rebounder right now for sure, but Embiid is still top 20 in Defensive Rebound Percentage. Whiteside was 9-11 from the field with Embiid on the bench by the way. So it's nice that he was able to dominate Okafor, but everybody dominates Okafor unfortunately. Oh and the 2 are right near each other in PER and PIE as well with a slight advantage to Hassan.

Embiid is putting up historical per 36 numbers. He's a future 2 way superstar. Injury will be the only thing stopping him, and while I'm sure you're probably hoping that happens like everybody else we've dealt with on our boards that were salty that we had the nerve to tank; Bone Graft surgeries have a high rate of success. The one player that comes to mind who was in a similar situation as Embiid was Ilgauskas, and he was perfectly fine after his bone graft.

I like Whiteside a lot. Probably the most underrated Center in the league. I laugh hysterically anytime I hear Drummond's name mentioned over Whiteside since Drummond really is someone who only plays one end of the floor. But the comment that Embiid only plays one side of the floor is laughably wrong. And while I could post stats showing why all day, especially when comparing to the guy you say does play both ends, I'm not a fan of stats without context. The eye test proves everything I need to know. Just watch the Cavs game that the 76ers incredibly threw away in the final seconds. Lebron James, the best player in the league refused to shoot against Embiid. Embiid had already blocked him 3 times, twice in the final minutes. Lebron knew better than to test Embiid any further. So again, it's not a slight on Hassan, he's a fantastic player, but he's limited offensively. I can't recall a single point he scored on a play drawn up for him against us while Embiid and Okafor scored at will on designed plays. Embiid has also shown all the intangibles you could ever want. Directing his teammates on the court. Fantastic leader and a fantastic personality. A must follow on IG and Twitter.

Embiid has his struggles too. He's way too turnover prone right now. Has the second highest usage rate in the NBA. That's just ridiculous for a rookie. He holds the ball too low, gets knocked loose a lot. He has a tendency to dream shake too much when he has an open hook. That's actually been improved significantly. He needs to get better passing out of double teams, which he has, but still not nearly good enough. Defensively he chases blocks a little too much for my liking. But he's not limited on either end on the floor, and certainly isn't limited physically.

The Pick and Roll is run on at least 70% of NBA possessions.

Joel Embiid is a terrible P&R defender. If you are bad as a P&R defender as a big man, you are bad defensively, period.

I already said on Twitter that he has a ridiculous Offensive game. He is gonna be a star if healthy. But let's hold off on his defensive "prowess".

Based on what because I know you haven't watched every single minute of his like I have. There is nothing bad at all about his PnR defense. Not on eye test. And certainly not on statistics being that only 5 PnRs have resulted in a shot against Embiid all year. Too small a sample size. Hell statistically Okafor is an elite PnR defender (top 5%), and Whiteside is a horrendous PnR defender (bottom 5%). But we both know that is ridiculous. We're one of the best in the league at guarding the roller. Sergio Rodriguez, Nik Stauskas, and TJ McConnell are the problem here. Awful, awful defenders. And I'm much more concerned with the fact that we've given up the most fast break points in the NBA.

You can praise whoever, however you want. Doesn't make much difference to me. But Embiid allows a lower FG% in the paint and blocks more shots. Nor is he a terrible PnR defender either. I've seen him switch and lock up elite guards all year. Forced John Wall into a terrible a jumper. Blocked a Kyrie step back. Forced Knight and Bledsoe into a few bad jumpers. Just off the type of my head. The eye test doesn't support your theories, and neither do statistics for that matter. If there's anything Embiid struggles with, it's on ball defense. As a team we're awful at defending post ups.

He's a rookie. Defensive lapses are to be expected. Nobody is saying he's a great defender. But he's been good on that end of the floor with the potential to be elite.

76ers need to acknowledge that Okafor is a bust at this point and trade him for whatever they can get before he loses all value. I'd beg Ainge like a ***** for Marcus Smart at this point. He is a horrendous basketball player. Let Whiteside go 9-11 on 7 offensive rebounds last game, and got bodied again tonight. 2 points, and 1 rebound in 26 minutes. Even his offense is terrible. Provides nothing off the ball, merely an isolation scorer.

No. I simply compared his numbers to Whiteside's. Take from that what you will. He's a good defender with potential to be elite when he stops making rookie mistakes. Philly needs someone, anyone who can defend the perimeter. Covington is great, but Stauskas, Sergio, and the rest are horrendous. Our bigs are constantly in foul trouble because of the easy penetration, and I'll probably kill myself if Brown Brown runs a Saric - Ilyasova combo down low ever again.

Nice win by the Knicks tonight and over 500 for a change. Melo played great. KP averaging 21 and 8 over his last 11 on 52%. Had some great blocks tonight.

But the best center on the Knicks roster....Willy Hernangomez. offensive footwork well beyond his 20 years and hes strong as a bull. This kids gonna be a star. Noah is already expendable

    50 3-point attempts...lol.

Nice win to start another brutal 5 game road trip. Clint Capela with another double-double against a top Center (Boogie). Harden with his 4th triple-double of the season.

Need to go 3-2 on this road trip. 10-6. On to Portland.

2-0, so far, on the five game road trip.

Between our injuries and the college season now underway...a tank sounds pretty solid right now. This is just a great lottery to be in.

Though I've read a few breakdowns that suggest the HEAT are likely better than their record looks due to some metrics (corner 3s, shots at rim, rim protection, etc). We'll see if the defense can hold up.

    What. A. F'n. Game!!!!

Rockets went into Oakland and kicked GSW's super team butt (12 game win streak). 2 OTs...this game had it all.

Amazing what happens when Harden gets help. Ryan Anderson dropped 29. Eric Gordon dropped 23. Harden with 29 points, 15 rebounds, 13 assists. Dantoni made all the right moves....finally a coach with a clue.

We got a back to back against Denver to end our 5 game road trip. I would be shocked if we don't lose. They left it all out on the court tonight. So proud!

With this current cast, I'd be shocked if they don't. You got a guy playing as much for his next payday as anything else and who can't run the offense because he's miscast as a PG (Rose). We made the mistake of paying big money to a past his prime C who gets hurt when you breathe wrong in his general vicinity. We overpaid for Courtney Lee who shouldnt even be starting over Justin Holiday. And a guy who, even though I love having Carmelo on our team, refuses to to be Robin and let Porzingis develop in to Batman.

Ultimately, I still think Melo and KP are guys we can long term be successful with, but I don't feel that way about Rose and Noah. Carmelo needs to realize that the key to being a great player in this league that wins championships vs one that doesn't win championships is trusting your teammates especially when said teammate has a chance to be one of the very best in the league very soon and shoots the ball at a very effective rate.

If they make the playoffs, it'll be because they got a PG who defends the PnR and a big man who is physically imposing in the paint and plays better rim defense than Noah.

Supposedly, the Nets are going to make an offer sheet to Motiejunas. The Rockets plan on matching. That will give us a post player to go along with NeNe. Personally, I hope we let him walk. I don't want him taking minutes away from our young guys and screwing up the chemistry. Dantoni loves him some D-Mo though...7-footer with post moves and shoots 36 percent from three.

    According to Barry Jackson:

    • Riley told NBA.com’s David Aldridge that he would like two first-rounders. That would affect Heat cap space, which could swing from $39 million or so to $43 million (without Bosh on the cap) --- depending on where the Heat drafts. Cap space would shrink more if Ellington keeps playing this well and Miami exercises his $6.3 million option - not especially likely but possible if he has a great season.

Dealing Dragic (due $17 million next season) for a pick would add considerable space.

    Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/s...y-jackson/article119290318.html#storylink=cpy

That's good news IMO because it means Riley sees the value in this draft, and is looking to the future. Trading Dragic for a pick is exactly what I would do.

Knicks 3 games over 500 for the 1st time since 2012-13.
So Phil calls Melo a ball hog and says hes improving but has to keep the ball moving. Also said Melo can play the MJ/Kobe role because hes always going to have an advantage on the weakside. And seperately, Phil says he smoked weed during his recovery from back surgery during the 69-70 season. Phil is a human quote machine. Reporters need to pay him since he makes their job easy lol
