I understand why you dont want him Finfang. If we had a better squad and better WR Corp i would say no in an instant but with the players we have right now he can improve it instantly. He brings "potential" baggage and dont forget he just wants to win and he isnt in his early yrs either. Miami cant get him his "wins" right now.
Jags will be better option for him imo.
    Johnson and Smith....now thats scary.
Ginn and Hagan doesnt have the same ring to it.

He's a quality #1 WR but I would like to address size concerns on our WR corps. If we can get a nice 6'3 and up complement, our WR corps would be much improved. Right now, I don't trust any of our WR's in the endzone. But Ocho Cinco would be worth a 2nd or 3rd but not a 1st.

He wont be gettin the ball like he is in Cincy. Splitting Chad and Carson Palmer up is not something I can see happening.

He's not a bad egg. He's a team player and a talent who likes to have fun. Unfortunately, Mr. 85, for personal reasons, is not supposed to be hangng around South Florida.

That's pretty ignorant, IMO. The guy says what he has to say to fire his team up and he speaks his mind. Everyone around the league takes it as comedy -- no one gets offended by his comments. He's an entertainer. He's the type of player who would do anything to win, and anything to fire his team up.

When his team is losing, he shuts up. He's not an idiot like Joey Porter who NEVER stops yapping.

Chad Johnson is a great player who doesn't hurt his team. I'd take him any day.

    What's ignorant about it?

    Does he run his mouth?

    Yes

Is he the type of person that needs attention on him at all times?

    Yes

Is he known for his endzone celebrations, gold teeth, haircut, racing a horse, back patting, nametag change on his uni?

    Yes

Is that the type of distraction that I would want on my team if I was in a position to either make or not make the trade?

    No

Again, JMO. He isn't on the level of a Pacman, Tank, etc as far as PITA goes. But he is more self-involved than he should be on Sundays. So no thanks. I'm not of the mind that a player can act like a dope as long as he produces.

I don't see why people don't want players with a personality on this team to get them fired up and into the game. A trade I would do for him is our 1st round pick for their 1st rounder, Chad Johnson, 3rd rounder and a 7th rounder. I would welcome him this team needs a playmaker on the outside and unless Ginn really steps up next season they won't have one.

The best part of that article, is where he says "Where's Parcells' at?". He beleives Parcells can make Miami win right away, and he would love to play here.

If Free Agents think like him, then Parcells may have landed us a big offseason.

Also, I would not mind a trade for Ocho Cinco. He's a legit #1 receiver. Building through the draft is nice and what ever, but we need established skill players like himself.

Plus his contract is on a fair price. 4 years, 18 million left? I'd say he's been playing on a discount than what less talented receivers are getting paid for nowadays.

Sounds like a pretty ignorant statement to me.

What is wrong with gold teeth and endzone celebrations???

In terms of him 'running' his mouth. I would really like to hear some examples of things he has said this season or last.

Correct me if I am wrong, but he didnt talk at all last year.

I don't think Johnson is a distraction to anyone but people who don't like him personally

The guys is an arse and a media whore but at the same time is an amazing talent at a position we are not the strongest in so from me it is a 100% YES to him being on our team.

    Very unlikely though :(

LOL some of you guys are really starting to sound like Cam and only want to trade for players who have good families. Johnson is a star WR who doesnt get suspended, doesnt fight with coaches and is currently underpaid.

Im inclined to make the assumption that a lot of you are either old school guys who look at any kind of celebrating as taunting or showboating, which isnt true. Or you just think that Chad hogs the spotlight and wants attention at ALL times, which isnt true either.

Bottom line is if we can get one of the top 5 WRs in the league for a fair price Im all for it, it helps us dramatically in many different ways ( More room for Ronnie, big target for an inexperienced QB, a solid WR who is dependable ). Only way i say no to bringing him in is if we would have to give up high draft picks which is likely.

It came out last year that he punched his Offensive coordinator during halftime of a game.

The head coach did everything he could to quiet it up. He said he would immediately cut whoever blabbed bout it to the press, but it came out anyway. There must be a Bengal who doesn't think Ocho is as cool as ocho thinks he is.

There have been rumors all year THIS year about how the rest of the team are sick and tired of him and Who's your Momma running off their mouths and trying to run the team.

If you follow his career before he went to the pros he has a long history of being a problem guy. He's a great WR, not doubt but he is a t0t0l m0r0n. The interview that Keyshaun did with him on ESPN was pretty funny. Johnson gave him a hard time about everything he said...

    lol

Sorry, I forgot that you can't have an opinion unless you agree with the masses. I apologize, I'll try to remember that for next time.

What is wrong with endzone celebrations and gold teeth?

    lol

Well when an individual detracts from a team game or accomplishment (a TD for example) because he is an unabashed attention whore, I think that is a problem. When a guy violates NFL rules by taping a stupid self given moniker to the back of his jersey for the sole purpose of bringing attention to himself, that's a problem. When a guy tries to market an image instead of being a team guy, that's a problem. When a guy is so starved for attention during the offseason that he needs to have a foot race with a racing horse (yes it did happen), there is a problem.

The problem is.......he is a "me first" type player/person that is more concerned with his image than with fitting into a team system. Again JMO.

So paint my opinion ignorant if you like, but that doesn't change what TO....oops...I mean Chad Ocho Cinco is all about. And that is himself.

I'm ignorant and an old fogey. lol Gotta love it.

There is nothing wrong with a person who wants his players to have respect for the game. If a fan wants a player to shut his yap and stop with all of the self promotion, does that make him wrong? If a person is fed up with the "me first" culture that has infested everything from music to TV to elementary school kids and he wants his players to show some respect and sportsmanship, does that mean he is ignorant? If a guy is watching his favorite team woo a player that is more concerned with personally winning the Kentucky Derby than being a good teammate, does that mean that the fan is out of touch? If someone is concerned about chemistry and sees his fellow fans fawning all over a guy that dreams about himself at night, should he keep his opinions to himself? Or is he entitled to share his thoughts in a thread asking for opinions?

Seriously, everytime there is speculation that a player may be available, everyone is all set to trade for him regardless of what type of player he is, what type of person he is or how it will effect the team. Is "Ocho Cinco" a good WR? Sure, he's better than anyone currently on the Dolphins. Is he a good fit for Miami? Not in my opinion.

First of all this is a rebuilding team, we don't need a Chad johnson next year, we need a solid draft and for our next coach to be able to put a system in place for his young players to follow. Does he need a Chad Johnson taking pictures of himself after every catch? Or does that send a poor message to the young players?

And do you (any of you) really believe that Ocho will continue to be an underpayed WR just for the opportunity to play for the 1-14 Miami Dolphins? Seriously? Or will Cinco continue to run his trap and be a distraction for a team that really doesn't need one?

What about Parcells? Didn't he just say in his presser yesterday that he wants quality people, good character people, that he doesn't have to babysit? Why then would he want one of the biggest showboaters in the NFL? Didn't he run away from that type of player/situation in Dallas?

If you think I'm out of touch because I dislike the gold teeth and yellow mohawk and stupid dances and stupid names taped to the back of his jersey and boasting to the media and the footrace against a horse..........then I guess I'm ignorant. And let me tell ya, I have never been more thrilled to be called ignorant. I like players that are commited to the game, not to themselves.

That's one of the most ignorant things I've ever read in my life.

Endzone celebrations, gold teeth, haircut, racing a horse, name tag change on his uni?

How is any of that negative? It's all entertainment. Nothing negative at all.

When you find an official statement of Chad Johnson getting into legal issues, let me know. When he disrupts his team in a similar manner to Terrell Owens, let me know. You don't have a good argument at all. The argument is irrelevant. You can't find anything against Chad Johnson. You have a personal dislike for Chad Johnson -- it's obvious. You don't condone what he does, and that's fine. However, don't speak out against someone for ridiculous things such as Gold teeth. I mean, seriously. WOW!

Didn't you once have a man in your avatar who wore black lipstick? What a contradiction.

Whatever dude, I guess I'm ignorant.

If you want a clown on your team posing for pictures everytime he ties his shoes, then great and good luck!!!

    LOL

Comparing music (which is an expressive art) to football (which is a team game with rules and regualtions) is silly at best. On the one hand (I can't believe that I'm giving this argument my time) Manson is a performer, it's social commentary about the downward spiral that is America and entertainment. Rock n roll is hardly a team game. Football on the other hand is a team game that requires everyone on the roster to play within a system and work towards a common goal. It takes hard work, determination, teamwork and a respect for the people that you play with and play for. There is no place in the NFL for a clown. Individualism is great for Marilyn Manson and his peers, it's not alright for someone that is playing a team game.

Again, if you want ot root for a dope wearing a pink wig and a bolt through his head, I'm sure Ocho can accomidate you.

Ignoring all of the ridiculous remarks, let me ask you a simple question:

Does Chad Johnson not play within his team's system?

If you ask any random Bengals fan(s), the guy is the definition of a team player. He goes all out for his team and will do anything necessary to win football games for his team. So what if he likes the spotlight personally? That doesn't effect his team overall. That's his personal choice. If anything, he makes it more interesting for the fans.........I mean, seriously. Whether you like "dopey" (nice choice of words) comments/actions or not, he's not doing anything negative. You can't argue against that.

Side note: Football vs. Music or not, going against Chad Johnson and praising Maryland Manson is LAUGHABLE!

There is a perfectly good reason why the Bengals are trying to shop Chad Johnson.

THEY ARE SICK OF HIS CHILDISH ANTICS AND THE DISTRACTION HE BRINGS TO THE FOOTBALL TEAM!

He brings nothing but chaos to the team. He doesn't fire them up he just embarrasses them. Lewis has been doing his best to hide it but everyone in Cincy including the fans are bloody sick of it. You want to spend a high draft pick on a locker room cancer. He is an extremely selfish player who is more concerned about his TD celebrations than wins. When the ball doesn't come his way he gets quiet not because he is doing it for the good of the team but because he is pouting over the lack of attention he is receiving.

Think I'm wrong well I'll tell ya I live in Bengal country and I hear and see it all first hand!

I want to stay right the hell away from #85!

Or in other words, ignoring the point of the post.

I believe that I did say that he was a good WR. I also said that he is a "me first" player. I gave you several examples that you choose to ignore.

If he is such a great player, why are the Bengals thining of trading him? I mean....he's underpayed, he's such a great guy....why get rid of him?

    Maybe this is the reason..

Or maybe it was because he was questioned in a murder investigation during the offseason. Or maybe it was any of the number of things that I already pointed out to you.

Or maybe he is such a gosh darn good guy that they want to trade him to Miami so he can be closer to the beaches.

Show me where I praised MM. I told you what he does, I never stuck up for him. I guess explaining the difference between music and football was the wrong thing to do. I apologize, I won't do it again.

If you want to start looking at our future Wr's for this team, start looking at Wr's that will be drafted in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds in the upcoming draft. Thats the only guys we are going to be bringing in at the position. Parcells likes to build a team through Defense first. I seriously doubt we will be making a move for any of the high priced free agent Wrs.

Laveranues Coles would be an exception if the Jets cut him loose. He is not really a "big name" Wr, but Parcells really liked him when he drafted him and Coles is a tough, dependable guy that would be a perfect slot reciever, basically filling the void left by Welker. Won't surprise me a bit if Pennington shows up in Miami as well.

Because they're a garbage team right now and they're looking for an excuse to escape the fact that they suck. Everyone points the finger when their team sucks, and why not go at Mr. Attention? He's the easiest person to target and blame for everything. Fact is, it's not deserved. He has done more to help that team than anyone in that entire POS organization.

I don't really care though. You guys are biased against "gold teeth" apparently.

Bottom line: I'd take Chad Johnson at the right price any day of the week & twice on Sundays.

No offense, but I don't like to argue against statements that I find irrelevant. If it doesn't interest me, then yeah, I just ignore it. I didn't find anything else worthy of arguing, so I left it be.

Chad Johnson is not a "me first" player. If Chad Johnson catches 2 passes for 18 yards and 0 TD's and his team wins, he's going to be celebrating afterwards. All he cares about is winning, and it's obvious that getting him the ball is good route towards victory. So why not ask for the damn ball? I mean, didn't we bash Chris Chambers for NOT being vocal enough and having the "aggression" of other receivers who demand the ball back in the Dave Wannstedt era when he was sometimes being thrown to 2-3 times on Sunday? It's a receivers mentality to want the ball. It's not a Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, or Keyshawn Johnson thing. The reason those guys beg for the ball is because they feel it betters the team's chances of success -- not because they want to go to Hawaii.

Are you arguing against Chad Johnson being a great player? Please, let's not joke around here. In his last 5 seasons, his lows are 87 catches (2006), 1,274 yards (2004), and 6 TD's (2007). Of course he's a great player. Great players get traded all the time. He's 29-years old and on a team that needs to look more towards the future. Why not trade him now when his value is at it's highest? Think basketball for a minute if you can -- Shaquille O'Neal (EDIT: poor example, his team was still winning), Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, etc.

Sorry, but I can't hold being apart of a murder investigation against a guy. Until there is concrete evidence that he's guilty, then that's pretty irrelevant. But I guess it's the gold teeth?

^An example of why I didn't respond to your other post. There's nothing to say to that.

    Apology accepted.

I tell you what I was listening to Siruis radio today and it sounds like he is all set with Cincy
If he is and IF we have the chance to get him BEST believe he will be on the team.

You guys said the same about Randy Moss and I old you we would be sory if he went to NE and he would tourch us. Well I hate to say I told you so.
We have to deal with that up here for the next 3-4 years.
We should have got the guy if we had the chance . Just to keep himaway from NE if for any reason.
Some of you need to get smart about what your talking about..
