I was disappointed when I saw it. The trailer made me laugh a lot. The movie had some laughs, however, I never laughed as hard as I did the first time I watched the trailer.

I saw Moana on Saturday and loved it. The plot is a basic hero's journey, but songs are unbeleivably good. The best since the turn of the century. Moana and Maui are both very relatable characters, and I like that they aren't barbie dolls like past Disney characters.

I haven't been able to get to the movies since I saw Independance Day 2 this summer (what a letdown), but I can't wait for Rogue One. My wife and I already have my mom lined up to babysit when we visit them in two weeks . The more I see about it, the more I like it. I saw a small feature that showed Alan Tudyk as the android K-S20, and he's one of my favorite people in Hollywood. Very excited.

    "Don't Breathe"

Actually enjoyed this. Cool premise. At first you're like
rooting for the blind guy, "who would do this to an injured army vet?" then they do a good job of spinning that when you see hes kidnapped the girl that hit his daughter and has impregnated her with a ****ing turkey baster. Crazy ****. Cool flick

Rogue One : really really good film, dont need to know much about Star Wars, helps if you do as it has a lot of small things that reference other films.

First hour is a bit slow but the ending is absolutely epic

So if, for example, you might own several Star Wars reference encyclopedias, that might be sufficient?

You will understand a lot of smaller references and fan service moments, yeah. I am a Star Wars nerd myself, and it was fantastic. Agree it starts a tad slow, not an hour but maybe the first 20-30. Bit jarring as you jump between locations frequently as well, but then it settles down as things come together.
Thought Felicity Jones was excellent, Alan Tudyk as the droid was a scene stealer for sure. Chirrut/Baze combo was another highlight. The rest were generic though solid. Krennic was a serviceable villian. Vader's first scene was fine but it was his second scene that really was an "oh **** whoa" moment.
The general ending you can predict (being a prequel), but the way it was pulled off was well done and surprising. The trailers I think were excellent - as much as they showed, the film still had plenty to offer that kept me offguard and engaged.

100% must see for any even remote fan of Star Wars, and a very solid and engaging movie for even a non SW person.

yeah, that's the first time I thought they had Vader in action like he should have been. actually a reminder of what he was like in the Force Unleashed games.

Overall, I loved Rogue One. I thought it was easily the best movie since Jedi. The CGI to bring back certain characters to their 1977 forms wasn't perfect, but I thought it was better than what the critics were saying.

Rogue One yesterday - Was fantastic. Cant believe Disney had the balls to
actually go through with killing off everybody. I know they had too so they save the awkward trying to explain why they're not in the OT....but still

I got misty eyed multiple times, what a time to be alive. We are living through all new Star Wars movies....so incredible. My wife, son and I went home and threw on "New Hope".....it meshed perfectly. We were super excited just from the opening "Scroll" at the beginning literally describing the Rebel war getting the DS plans to the Princess. So much fun.

Watched Force Awakens yesterday just to calibrate. It's close for me. I like the main character Rey in Force Awakens more than any character in either movie, but I thought the supporting cast in Rogue One was >>> Force Awakens. Plus the final scene w/Darth Vader was just awesome

I saw it and loved it.

However, the ONLY reason the Vader scene was bad ***, was the way it started with the black then the red light saber.......the stuff he did after that was pretty cool but not as legendary as some have said (not necessarily on these boards, just in general).

I think people, including me, were excited by it because it was a far cry from the robotic movements seen with Vader previously and more along the lines of when Anakin was fighting.

Really, what it did was show Vader as the inexorable force that he never really was in the prequel movies. From the original trilogy, we got the idea of Vader being a badass. I mean, in the opening scene of New Hope, he picks a dude up by the throat and tosses him away like a rag doll. Nobody ever comes even remotely close to just slowing him down until the final battle with the enraged Luke. Vader plowed through subordinates, early iterations of Luke, even Obi-Wan lasted only long enough to distract him and allow Luke to escape.

The prequel trilogy destroyed that image. The last we saw of "Annie" he was whining about sand, killing younglings and getting his *** handed to him by Obi-Wan. The entire prequels were summed up in that last scene with him shouting "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Rogue One gives us back the old Vader. The troopers see the saber and know **** is about to get real. That then carries back into New Hope.

I would like to see more of that - building him out as the force he is. Moreso than, say, a lame Boba Fett movie which is rumored.

Also, I don't get why people were unhappy with his little pun when meeting Krennic. Those quips were all over in the OT, it was totally in character for him. I laughed my *** off.

Rogue One ruled. My Star Wars Rankings:

    A New Hope
    Empire
    Rogue One
    Return of the Jedi
    Force Awakens
Episodes 1-3 are equally indistinguishably crap.

I just went and saw it again. Have to say, both times, it had my heart racing, part of it due to the movie itself, part of it just the lead up to "A New Hope". I have to agree with your rankings, although, I'd probably put Rogue One on same level as Jedi

It's tough to compare Rogue one to any of the original trilogy. Maybe I'm wrapped up in the moment. Jedi is a great movie despite the Ewoks. They don't bug me like they do some Star Wars obsessives.

I only let enjoyment be a factor. That is why mine is

    Empire
    New Hope
    Force Awakens
    Jedi
    Rogue One
    then the terrible, terrible prequels.

IMO, people are letting "darkness" and "tone" be a factor for Rogue One.
