It works as long as the quests themselves also carry narrative. They really don't, though. And the cutscene clusters are disconnected and don't really inform us of anything. Noctis has a bad dream > "let's go find the boat we didn't tell you about for the last 15 hours!"

Just beat it, lvl 58 I think and pretty much 55 hours. Still have at least two dungeons to do, a handful of side quests (had like 6 on my list),
a battle with a lvl 99 turtle monster to do,
and a bunch of fish to catch still (only level 7). I am missing like 3 or 4 swords I think, I imagine two are in the dungeons I have yet to complete but not sure where the last one or two are.

I also have to do the doors in the dungeons that were closed.

I'm level 50, 45 hours played. Backed off the main story after reaching Ch 11. Sidequesting now while I level up. I have most of the royal arms, but haven't fished much. I spent over an hour on it trying to catch a specific one yesterday and gave up. Its cool that some of the dungeons aren't on the map and you have to search and discover them. I have several quests from them that I'm going to go back to in a while when I'm stronger, after getting my rear end kicked earlier.

I had an unusual occurance tonight. I went in to a dungeon that I hadn't been to before, going after an item for a sidequest that happened to be found there. When I entered, it popped up with a level 30 quest for the dungeon itself - to kill the monster within. So, I thought sure, two birds with one stone, as I'd been taking on these kinds of things lately with success.

I go all the way through, find the area where the boss should really be, and get a good guess as to what kind it is but....no boss fight. I waltz through, go on to collect my royal weapon, and leave. Kind weird. Makes me wonder if it was bugged in some way.

Square is rumored to be putting out a complilation of FF I-IX for the PS4 and Vita next year. One disc will include all of the games.

Not sure how I feel. The ground-up 7 remake takes some luster off. I wonder how the NES and SNES games will look on a 60" HDTV. I will say that if I had a Vita and the time/need to play mobile, I'd be all over it. This would be awesome for long road trips.

VGLeaks is unreliable. If what they report is correct, it's accidental.

On a side note, **** Costlemark Tower.

I'm not sure I believe it either. Why sell this whole package to people for $60 when people will buy them for $15-$20 each?

Then again, I'm not sure how well the iOS versions of FF1-9 sells. But the price generally doesn't go down so I think it sells ok.

The iOS versions of FF games go on sale infrequently. I'd say two times per year.

As for why bundle everything for $60… well, it IS an anniversary bundle. It makes sense in terms of marketing. Farm the work out to some crappy Korean developer and rake in goodwill by getting your fans re-entrenched in the series again.

    Still don't believe VGLeaks though.

I am borderline embarrassed to admit that I own several of them on iOS. I don't know why. I guess to have them. I never play them.

And also... so we're clear. If they released 1-9 on PS4 on a collection disc, I'd buy it. lol

I own everything they've released for iOS except FF2. It's not an embarrassment or something that requires admission. FF1 is a great time-waster.

I have most of them as ps1 classics, so I can play them on my Vita. I also have all the ps1 discs though, so I could play it on my ps3s if I wanted too.

I'm not saying I wouldnt want it. I'd be first in the digital line to buy it. My logic is more along the lines of: They could probably put 1-9 on the PSN store for $15 to $20 each and make a lot more on them.

Oh ok, I misunderstood. Well, still, there are still plenty of people like me out there who might be a real, disc copy of a game, who would never buy a digital download. I know that digital sales are cheaper for the company, but physical are likely still safer.

So, two weeks in, how are you guys feeling about the game? What is meeting or exceeding your expectations, and what has fallen short?

I'm at level 60, and have backed off from the main story, after reaching Chapter 11 and dipping my toe into the first mission within that section. While I'm curious about unlocking better weapons and items, I'm worried about pushing further than I want, as my style is always to get to a point where I'm comfortable before moving on.

I've been exploring the nooks and crannies of the Lucian map, and still have a lot left to explore. I only recently started using chocobos, and have gotten up to level 7 with them, though I still suck at racing. I'd like to be able to unlock more from that section of the game, since it looks like I've only scratched the surface of whats there. Hilariously, I just unlocked a level 6 quest related to that area.

I've been doing all of the monster hunts that I can, and have had a great time with that. I just realized yesterday that you can actually redo them also, if you want to, once you've completed them. I'm currently trying to obtain an item so that I can upgrade a weapon with Cid, and it seems that the only way to get it is to kill one particular daemon, and that daemon is only available as part of a hunt. So, I do it over and over. No luck yet, unfortunately.

Money is now not a problem, and I've been keeping myself restocked on Hi-potions and elixers, though I've yet to find anywhere that I can buy megapotions. Those would come in handy, beyond the few that Gladio picks up after battles. I'm planning to put AP into the section of the tree that lets the characters heal themselves better next, and want to get that squared away before moving on.

Its been very satisfying to explore the dungeons, kill the bosses, and discover the Royal Arms. Still a few that I'm confused about. The game gives hints, often via dialogue, but leaves some things as a total mystery without any further clues. I really don't use those as weapons right now though, and just do the Armiger when it pops up.

I've also been saddened by how very little you're able to call on the summons. I've been able to call on Rammuh a few times, but never in an important battle, I called Leviathan once from a small fishing pond, against a group of low level daemons, just because I got the chance to do it. Haven't had the chance to see Titan yet. I know that they wanted to make them special this time around, but its too the extreme, and even when you have the chance, it can be hard to time it just right. Especially playing on wait-mode like I do, the same button for calling the summon does other things as well, and the game doesn't understand that its what I want. I'm hoping that they fix the mechanics behind it. Moving it to the L3 button on the controller, with some bigger notification when you can use it, would be a big move in the right direction.

And I hate fishing. Currently have three different quests in my que that deal with it.

What!? The map is huge, I used Chocobos whenever and wherever I could.

And I love fishing, it's better than Ocarina of Time for sure.

Up until recently, I would drive to a spot, park the car, and walk around. My general method was to explore all that I wanted, and then at night time, if I wasn't near a camp site, warp back to the car, then warp to a hotel.

Yesterday, I got a Chocobo at Hammerhead, then rode it North as far as I could, then West to the rest area, and then finally South past the Chocobo station all the way to one of the dungeons about a mile from that point. Took I think three days in game time. Explored a few areas that I'd never walked around in before, and had just driven through.

Is this the Spiral Helixhorn? If so, no, you do not need to kill it. You attack the horn on the Duplicorn (target the head directly and long-range warp using a weapon like the Hardedge or the Sword of the Wise) until you break the head. At that point, a message will flash up at the bottom telling you if you've acquired the Spiral Helixhorn. Killing is not required. You just have to break the horn and you'll be told immediately if you get it or not. If you don't get it from either Duplicorn, just reload your save (because you saved just outside the yellow circle, right? Right?) and try again. Much faster than constantly turning in and re-starting the hunt.

Dude, thank you. Yes, thats the one, and i clearly had the wrong plan. I was frustrated because i was getting the break notification too, and it wasnt giving me the drop. Ill try that method.

Still really like it. Taking my time. Chapter 6 or 7, level 35 right now. I fish, I hunt, loot dungeons, listen to old FF soundtracks. I am passing up a large number of "boring" low-level quests. Not sure I'll regret it down the road, but I just can't bring myself to care about getting plants to sell at a market.

Details of the first DLC pack, which features Gladio. Some spoilers in the article, so I won't quote the text. Interesting that it apparently lets you explore areas of the map that were off limits in the main game, much like The Witcher 3 did with its own expansions.

There have been multiple rumors that Cyberpunk will come out next September, but those seem far fetched, so I didn't bother sharing them. Those guys play things really close to the vest. They have said though, that The Witcher 3 is now complete and nothing else will be added. There may or may not be other games much later down the line. Honestly, I would suspect that along with all of the other projects that Square has going on, you're more likely to see FF16 before The Witcher 4.

I bet we see Cyberpunk in 2017. I'd bet money we are not getting it in 2017. 2018 the earliest. Probably 2019 to be safe. Those guys are known for both taking their sweet time, and for delaying the **** out of their stuff to make sure it's legit. Which I'm fine with. I'd rather wait for an excellent game, that get it quickly and it doesn't live up (I'm looking at you No Man's Sky).

I agree. Delays are just part of how things work now. Other than sports titles, almost every game I've bought for the PS4 has gone through a delay. 2017 is going to be an epic year in gaming as it is, so CD Projekt Red can take their time.

Details of an upcoming "holiday pack" for the game. Even after reading several different versions of this article, Im not really sure what it all means, except that people who have the season pass (not me!) will get a handful of items that may be useful. I do like that they've added a NG+ feature for second playthroughs.

I also learned that the game does have a hard level cap of 99. There had been speculation that you might be able to just keep leveling up beyond that if you chose, but apparently thats not the case. At level 62, I might jump back into the main story and see if the deeper areas are better for me to explore.

I've been trying with no luck for days. I'll go, do the fight about 10 times, then give up and do other things before going back. I have learned a few tricks with the battle system thanks to the advice, but no luck so far. I have another similar one now where I have to get a Griffin feather that I've also been failing on. I'm gonna just move on for now I think, and see if I can just come across better items elsewhere.

In Lestallum, there's a woman near one of the food carts eating. Walk up near her (she's on the lower level by the gas station IIRC) and Ignis will do his "I've come up with a recipe!" thing.

Pleasantly surprised by how much better the upgraded Engine Blade is. Well worth the effort put into finding the horn. Now, after finally completing the quest to get the needed item, I'm waiting on the upgrade for the saw before I move on. I've been really surprised at how hard it is to find the machines. Prompto has some powerful limit break attacks with them.

76 hours of gameplay in, level 68, and I've finally achieved level 6 hunter status. I found one hunt that requires you to be level 8, and I was wondering how that was even possible, but I've found a few locations that add hunts on one you've completed the highest one that they originally list.

Up over 600,000 gil. Its to bad that at least to this point in the game (I haven't progressed through chapter 12), they don't let you spend large sums of money to buy rare items like most past FF games would. Some things, you just have to find.

I just beat the game. The scenes are emotional, but the storytelling is so poor. This really is a game created by stitching together various incomplete scenes and storyboards. The core game itself is fun, but because the story is told so incoherently and disjointedly, and there a good amount of bugs, I give it an 8/10. It's about on par with FF10, better than FF8 and FF13, not as good as FF7, FF12, or any of the SNES FFs.

The best parts about this game are the parts that are directly derived from FF6. And that's both a good and bad thing.
