I think Matt Moore will most likely be O.K. Though it has been a while since he has started a regular season game.
So true. Considering that we ported over his HC as our new OC - the odds weren't good to start. It's also a business and Moore wasn't going to sell tickets like a first round QB selection.
Moore is a bonafide gunslinger. I'm salivating at the mouth as I'm sure coach Gase is too. Can't wait til Saturday.
What should be of grave concern no matter what you think of him as a player. He hasn't had any meaningful regular season play in some time - five years to be exact. Thankfully he managed to get some snaps last week but on his first couple of pass plays he looked a little out of sync with the speed of the game; which is to be expected. The key will be how quickly he once again becomes accustomed to game. He will make some mistakes this week. Can we minimize them to simply throwing to the wrong spot or taking a sack. I firmly believe his lack f game time in recent history other than this past week will comeback to haunt him in this game.
Your original reply? No, I am not Matt Moore's agent. I'm glad we got that cleared up though because I bet lots of people were in total suspense on that one. I'm a digital marketer that doesn't write about sports (except for here), although I do have some contacts within the Dolphins organization through friends of friends. And I can tell you that the front office and almost all the team players from 2011 wanted Moore to start over Tannehill. If you can't remember that far back, just Google it. There are videos from Hartline, Incognito, Pouncey, Bush, etc. saying that they felt Moore should be their QB1 and team leader. Philbin bet the farm on Tannehill and it was what it was...they had to start him because we vastly overpaid. And Tannehill had to start this season for the exact same reason, which turned out to be a good thing. He took big strides this season and minimized his weaknesses. I'm not trying to make Moore/Tannehill comparisons though because RT is hurt...there's no question that Moore is our best possible starter this coming Sunday. So I'm not sure why you're stirring up arguments just for the sake of arguments. There are some people here who have always liked Matt Moore and we've supported Tannehill regardless. RT had a great season this year and I HATE that he's out...especially now when it was the perfect time for redemption in the December stretch. Again though, I'll debate football all day long. I'll argue coaching decisions, player talent or almost anything Dolphins. But I'm not interested in flame-fests with trolls who attack people to make themselves feel special. It's against this site's terms and that's something you should care about, considering that you need to be here a heck of a lot more than I do. So please, just stop. I have nothing against you or your site...I just don't want to play your troll games.
I share every single one of your concerns as well....there was actually a Herald piece that said Moore was nervous on the bench after that first drive. He told Landry, "I haven't played a meaningful drive in 5 years," and Landry proceeded to lecture him on being one of the team leaders and why he was going to kill it on that go-ahead drive. I think he will be fine as the game ticks along...I'm just worried about him taking a big hit. He responds to concussions poorly and if someone levels him, the guy's career is over. I don't wish that on anyone...even a player from the Bills or Jets. So I really have my fingers crossed that the line plays awesome and keeps Matt safe.
it's never a good thing when starting QB goes down, but that's what the back up is for. Like Sick, found the OP to be a little over the top, but unlike Sick I enjoyed the optimism. But I think we all agree, what a great story it would be if he can get the team to the playoffs. I'm just glad we have a capable backup so we can still watch meaningful December football.
First of all-this isn't "my site". Posted originally on finheaven and came here in 06/07 with everyone else. I have no part in the ownership or anything to this site. If you have a problem with my fan made podcast, hide signatures and you're good to go. I want to know why you think I am a troll that flame fests? And when did I attack you? Wanna bring up the TOS for the site we are always told to attack the post not the poster. I did that. Never called you a name. Never attacked you personally. So if I have a problem with your POST I can voice it. That's my right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And for the record I have nothing against you either. We are all dolfans wanting the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had no problem with your OP as you have stated repeatedly over the years that you didn't like Tannehill from the start and that you were a Moore guy from the get go and have admitted your bias. But this is partni bold is false. Go read the articles from 2012 and watch Hard knocks again. Philbin's plan was to start David Garrard and have Tannehill as a backup. They didn't really have a plan for Moore at all. You can go back and Hard Knocks where it was discussed. Tannehill was not drafted as the starter as you, BB, and couple others have stated. Garrard got injured and for whatever reasons they didn't want Moore to start although most of us thought that would be the logical progression. Put it down as another in the long list of poor decisions by Queasy Joe. As for Moore, everyone likes him. Everyone will be rooting for him and hoping he gets it done, but he's been in the league 9 years, went thru 4 coaching changes between Carolina and Miami and only had any 1 team interested him by what was reported a couple years ago before he came back to us. Now seriously, you can see why some are so skeptical of the Ol' Gunslinging Field General, right? Let's just hope he can help us win 2 games. Then you can gloat and sing his praises in the Halls of Fins Valhalla all you want.
Your very first post in this thread was calling him Moore's agent. That's commenting on the poster and an attack
I've said this a bunch of times but as soon as tannehill walked into that practice field it was super obvious he so much more talented then both..Gerrard was a joke and shows the incompetence of the coach and GM at the time.
Tannehill beat out Moore. As a rookie, he was as good of a quarterback as Matt Moore. Matt Moore is not a good starting quarterback. He is not a bad starting quarterback. He is the Applebees of quarterbacks. Some good, some bad, but at least he has half off appetizers during happy hour.
I'd be hesitant to call that an attack, although these days people are overly sensitive to almost anything.
Seriously. An attack? It was a funny quip, based off an overly optimistic post...the kind of thing an agent would write. It was funny.
Oh jdang you can't be serious? Oops. Did that offend you? Sorry. I mean: Fellow poster equal of mine. Your post is amusing. Did seriousness cross your mind while making it? I don't want to impose you're joking or serious but I want to get to the bottom of it post haste. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
While I do like Moore since you can do a lot worse than him, I fail to see how Moore could have given us a better chance at winning than Ryan Tannehill.
Travis- Like I said, I have nothing against you guys...even though you are overly promotional on this site. That's a red flag on any type of forum...you shouldn't ask readers to click through just to get your opinion. That sort of defeats the whole point of a community forum. And to be clear, I didn't shat over anyone....your boy is attacking me for absolutely no reason and I called him out on his intentions. I like Tannehill for certain traits AND I like Moore for others. That's my opinion and SICK is saying I am not entitled to share my own thoughts. Either you agree with that or you don't BUT since you're here partially to advertize, that makes it Perfectville's stance on your fans. This isn't about me at all, but the hundreds of people wondering, "Why's he being such a dick to a guy that likes Matt Moore?" There are at least four posts in this thread that basically said that...why are you not listening on behalf of your company? What does that say about your team's professionalism? That's all on SICK my brother...that's him defining your brand. And it's undoing everything that you're working so hard towards. As to your points 1-4, I help companies build large brands online from scratch. I know the amount of work involved firsthand, and rule #1 is always, "Give your customers value." Maybe you're not selling anything yet or to the monetization stages, but you'll never ever get there by picking fights on Dolphins forums over senseless crap. The average fan posts one short paragraph compliment over the life of using their account...the average critic posts 3-5 paragraphs 15 times and shares it across all their social accounts. So if you're looking for senseless fights, you've already failed. If your co-workers are trolling the forums where they let you advertise for free, that bridge is going to be burnt before long. That's no way to run a company. And I'm sorry, but that's how the online world works...there's no way around it. You can't run a brand like that. I wish you nothing but the best of luck with Perfectville, but you still have a lot of lessons to learn about business, online marketing and journalism. And sadly, very little of this is directed at you personally, but that's how brands work. If I write something online for a client and it offends just one person, I'm retracting the statement and sending a personal apology before it reaches an online slugfest like we're having here. That's how valuable a single customer is...or how badly they can hurt you. Anyone in your company that's intentionally picking fights while showing your company logo is a liability, and it's something you need to put in check immediately. It can't EVER happen...yet here we are doing it and you're dumb enough to call me out on it publicly. I don't owe Perfectville ANYTHING. Perfectville owes Dolphin fans EVERYTHING. If you don't believe that statement is true, then you have no business doing what you're doing. So learn from this experience and get your team in check. I also suggest you apologize to me in a PM and ask me to delete my posts in this thread. Or we can continue to play this game, I can keep asking moderators why they're publicly supporting SICK being a troll, and we can see who gets banned first. That's not the game I want to play....I just want to talk about football....but that all depends on your response.
Dude...you're seriously blowing this out of proportion. Sick made a joke...then you got snarky. Then he disband your initial post. Then it all went to hell. I don't think he's saying you can't post an opinion. He is, however, saying your opinion is largely based on your own opinions, and has very little factual to it. But, I guess, carry on.
Matt Moore is not better than Ryan Tannehill and is a middle of the road back up quarterback. That's the point. That's the fact. You being butt hurt I don't agree with you doesn't effect our podcast or brand. I don't have to agree with every fan because I host a show about the team. That's the Beauty of this world is opinions and debate. I work in corporate fraud and I see your original post as that-fraudulent. See I can work what I do for a living into my posts as well. Give me a gold star. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's actually pretty irrelevant because we all want him to succeed (yet even if he does, Tannehill is still the better QB and will be the starter next year regardless of how Moore plays). They aren't debating if Moore is going to play well or not, The general consensus is he should be able to hold his own. This thread just started off pretty over the top with the over-glorification of Moore and went from there. Hell if Tannehill is good to go in the post season he'll probably play over Moore unless they are that worried about the injury risk. No one in the NFL starts Moore over Tannehill unless you have to. that's pretty much the bottom line. Thus is the life of a career backup. It is pretty interesting how near every coach Moore has been under seems to disagree with the sentiment though. Maybe he knows something that -everyone- who has worked with Moore doesn't, idk
You're missing my point. I fully understand what all this back-and-forth is about. I just think the bickering you're seeing is only going to get worse. So.. why not stop the bickering and just wait till Moore plays so that the conversation will be about his play? Make sense? Well.. it's just a suggestion.
Would have probably been the case had this thread not been opened, lol. This thread was literally a direct response to me saying Tannehill is easily provably better than Moore, started by someone who admittedly says they think Moore should start over Tannehill. That changed the conversation.
This is just incorrect, a washed up David Garrard was actually winning the QB competition in 2012 until he got hurt. Moore had his opportunity to be our starter, he failed to seize it.
I like Moore and I think he is a quality backup, but he's closer to Ryan Fitzpatrick than he is Ryan Tannehill. I will be cheering my a** of for him on Sunday.
Nope it doesn't offend me at all. This is just the Internet. And we all visit to talk about a game. Anything on these forums is less than 0.001% importance in my life. I used to be more invested but screaming like a girl after Greg Camarillo scores a TD so we don't go 0-16 made me reassess things. We used to think Super Bowls. Now we cheering 1-15. So no it doesn't offend me. But I like facts. I will never give up facts. And the fact is, your first post was purely about the poster. Just pointing that out. Bicker away!
Well I mean attack = insult. I'm Not sure how anything can be an attack on a forum. Like cyber attack maybe on the internet. But not words.
Hard Knocks tells about half the story, and I guarantee you that Garrard would not have started the entire season for us. But once he was hurt and the media started digging in that nobody else was even targeting Tannehill in the first round (which probably wasn't true...but that's the media), Philbin was almost forced to start Tannehill right away. Was it the right decision? Who the hell knows...we can argue valid points either way. But their decision to try and transform him into a pure pocket passer was ridiculous when they drafted him for his mobility. You don't draft someone at #11 overall when the word "transform" is in the agenda. And now I wonder, if our coach was Adam Gase in year one, what would Tannehill look like today? We could pose the same question with Chad Henne at the helm...the guy with the huge arm that was asked to throw 20 touch passes a game. It's really amazing how incompetent our coaching has been this past decade. I mean- we used to get excited over fist pumps. That's how low we went with this team.
For the fourth time, I said that I thought Moore was the better QB when they drafted Tannehill. That was five years ago and a lot has changed since then...mainly the lack of Moore getting any quality reps. Of course Tannehill is better now...we've hired like 15 different coaches and coordinators to make sure of that (with a dozen fired for failing). So I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by hating on the guy who's forced to start this Saturday- are you hoping for him to fail in order to prove me wrong? Because no matter what he does or doesn't do, it won't prove a thing about 2012. The only way this could be settled is by letting Moore start the next 60 games....then we can compare apples to apples. But since that's not happening, why don't we just agree to disagree?
click·bait (on the Internet) content, especially that of a sensational or provocative nature, whose main purpose is to attract attention and draw visitors to a particular web page. I called it that because that's what you're doing- you're asking people to leave the Phins and visit your site to read articles. And if you read the terms of service, it specifically states that you can't insert links that reveals the real life identity of users here. So you're breaking the rules for self-promotion...which is fine if the site's owners don't mind. I was just pointing out that they probably will mind when posters are being attacked for their viewpoints. And your boy can't seem to help himself...when he disagrees, he lets the personal insults fly. Just look through some of his recent posts in other threads and how many other people have called him on it. Heck, others have called him on it in this thread. So unless you're hoping to get Perfectville back to population one, it may be a good idea to shift your marketing strategy on your main source of direct traffic.
Y'all don't owe anyone an explanation, you Sick and Sam do your thing, you've paid your dues, and dont worry about jealous fans, their just fuel to the fire.
Honestly, I read the OP and my first thought was - wait...this guy is a concussion risk? Seriously hope not.
So long as the site owners have no issue with what he/they do then what does it matter. If they've cleared it with them then they have their blessing.
Clickbait is more like if his signature said, "SECRET TRICK TO GET ANY WOMEN TO SLEEP WITH YOU!!" and you click it, and 25 different pop up ads clutter your screen, directing you to different sketchy websites.
My original comment was a playful joke "found Matt Moore's agent" not an attack. I have 72,790 posts that back up my posting style, and have a vast history for almost a decade on here playing tongue in cheek majority of the time. The OP then fired back something about me and Tannehill, and if you know football the ref always sees the retaliator not the first one. So lets consider that a wash. Moving on to the main points, which have been muddled since the first page of this thread. I IN NO WAY AM ROOTING AGAINST MATT MOORE, WE HAVE NOT SEEN THE DOLPHINS IN THE PLAYOFFS SINCE 2008 - I HOPE HE THROWS 5 TDS A GAME AND WE WIN BY 30 *Deep breath* Now with that out of the way, my original point is the OP started this thread about Matt Moore and was completely off base and over the top. He claimed We have a better chance winning the next 3 games with Moore than a healthy Tannehill. He compared Matt Moore to Peyton Manning levels of tape break downs and meeting room intelligence. He called Matt Moores instincts OFF THE CHARTS and his vision as being his best trait! All of those things are baseless and purely false or if nothing else, opinions when this original thread was telling us "why we should believe in Matt Moore". We have other posters in this very thread saying "I was nervous for Matt to take over, but reading this thread got me excited". I feel bad for that guy, this thread left out his mediocre record as a starter, his 33/28 td/int ratio, and his worst offense, fumbling the football! He averages almost 1 fumble per game started. Over 20! So, like I stated early in this thread, the flames needed to be taken down a bit from the OP. This guy BRINGS up my signature and podcast, when I didn't mention any of it. Instead of debating my topics at hand, he made it about my show, and how I am belittling the listeners/fans of it? I can't debate or discuss the Dolphins on here, a message board, in its purist form, because I have a podcast? I am a fan first. I was here for years. And I will not pander to everyone whether I agree or not, because I get behind a $60 mic in my spare bedroom using my sons head phones to talk about this team an hour a week. I am not paid enough to stop being a fan. I am not paid at all. In fact we are in the red, considering the time Kevin, Travis, Sam and I put into this missing family time, leaving dinner on the counter getting cold so we can get another podcast out, and just scheduling hours a week of our time to do this for nothing more than we enjoy it. So until ESPN hires me and puts into my contract that I am not to debate with the fans, I will be here adding to the discussion, because that's what I've done since 2006. That's what I do.
In my opinion, the player who should benefit the most from this is Parker. Moore like to heave it down field and let the WR make a play. This is right in Parkers wheelhouse (when healthy).
