While we all hope Moore can do well enough to help us get to the playoffs, I thought it'd be nice to look at some of the throws RT has made this year (especially after Moore was lobbing em up last night) and found this video on Reddit. I hope Gase and him continue down this path because no matter how this year finishes off, Next year is looking really really bright for us. Some of the throws are just nuts.

So many awesome throws. Love the one around 3:40 where he gets crushed throwing like a 40 yard td against the Chargers.

Look at the touch he is putting on some of those, then there's the absolute lasers. Moore wishes he had half the talent that Tannehill has.

The touch, spin, velocity etc. Just nuts. He is so much more of a complete QB than Moore it's a comical comparison.

Either way just watching that video makes me so excited for next year.

Can we see all the plays where he can't read a blitz and takes a sack? He throws a nice ball but is far from a complete qb.

He is much more complete than Moore, and it's not even remotely close.

He's also what we have, and our unquestioned starter moving forward. So get used to him. :wink2:

I know the success he's helped bring this year must be really rough for you to handle.

Actually reading, identifying, and shredding blitzes hasn't been his issue.

He had a sack percentage of 6.9 this year. I would say that is his problem...

I'll admit, I was a little sore on Tanny early in the year. Heck, it was pretty much the entire team.

While those were highlights, many of those throws were OFF THE CHARTS good. Even the runs were exceptional.

I have always said that every year, Tanny improves on some of the nuances of quarterbacking. He adds a new wrinkle to his game every year.

This year, it was his ability to put touch on the ball and hitting the deep ball with frequency. Give the wideouts credit on some of these throws, but Tanny has put these balls in places where his receivers can get their hands on it. There have been a couple to Devante this year where you expect Devante to come down with it. Ball was there for the taking, but the D just made plays. I'm okay with that, though.

In the past, Tanny doesn't make so many of these deeper routes. Regardless of the arguments out there, he has gotten better with placement and touch on these throws.

I do want him to minimize the really horrible plays, and he has them from time-to-time. Maybe it's a team thing (fumble at goal line vs AZ), but those cannot happen. Whether it's by penalty, or simply making a boneheaded play, this team seems to sometimes shoot themselves in the foot, and Tanny is not without blame.

Thanks for pulling up that video. I forgot how many of those highlights there were!

It appears you don't understand what Res said. Try again.

    Sack percentage =/= reading/identifying blitzes.

We talking blitz identification or sack percentage?

Or, do you simply lazily look at sack percent and assume bad at picking up blitzes? Oftentimes, when our line is struggling, teams don't have to blitz.

I agree that he adds something to his game each year, but I actually think he started getting better with the deep balls last year. This year, to me, the one thing he has gotten much better at is footwork and running for first downs when needed.

Isn't Tannehill's rating 100+ when blitzed or something like that? Thought I read that somewhere.

Know why Gase started Tannehill and not Moore? Watch that highlight reel. Look at the throws Tannehill makes. Touch, lasers, short, deep, mid range. Everything. He can make every throw. To bad he had awful coaching his first four years. Had Tannehill had competent coaching from his rookie year, perhaps we'd have seen this QB three years ago. However, despite being raw, despite having awful coaching, despite having the worst line in the league and getting destroyed on damn near every snap, Tannehill still developed, and still played relatively will.

It's actually amazing. Tannehill is a classic case of people not seeing the forest because of the trees. They focus on a couple of little things every game, and can't see the development of the guy, and see all the really good things he's doing.

Yeah, Tannehill pretty much eats blitzes for breakfast. Where he gets in trouble is when teams can get quick pressure with only their front four, and he can't dump it off to the short routes because the box has been stacked, or receivers don't run good enough routes to get open. Then he holds the ball, and gets sacked.

That's my QB! Proud of Tannehill for making the progress he did this year and excited for 2017. Still gutted he isn't playing here for these important games.

Getting those first downs with his legs has been awesome this year. The way he has been able to use his legs to avert trouble has improved tenfold.

I can see towards the end of last year where he was starting to click with his deeper throws, but this year has been really solid for him. His touch and accuracy on those throws are two things that I have really noticed. I almost expect it every game now. He use to almost put too much heat on those. Now, there's ample air under them.

Also, his screen stuff has gotten better. Really like that. There were a few of those throws when he got flushed out that were simply on target. Under duress and converting. I haven't seen much of that from him in the past. The slow starts are a team thing, but I think he should be the guy who picks up the team early. But when he gets rolling, it's fun to watch. I just hope he continues to improve. And knowing how hard he works (it's obvious by his field play), I think he will.

I think being the #1 under pressure QB in the NFL would counter that a little...just a tad.

Nobody said he's perfect or elite.

The fact that a thread like this was created afer only 1 week of Moore starting says everything. Tannys job is not in jeopardy but holy **** is this thread the most ridiculously timed thing ever. Get a life man.
