Our team is having their best season in a long time, we have a very promising HC, we have really good talent at different places throughout the team, the team itself is coming together in unity and believing in one another, it looks like we might have two QB's who can compete in this league, those QB's are, evidently, very supportive of one another... In short, we have a team who's only focus is to keep winning.... And yet somehow... here we are...?
882 no offense, but how do know that? You've never really seen him play, and likely never with this team and these starters.
Did you actually watch the game? There is a huge difference in arm strength. Moore looked like Pennington with those wobbly floaters lol.
Peyton threw ducks too. I guess tannehill is better than him too. Tannehill looks really good holding onto the ball and taking a sack 7% of the time he drops back.
do recall Jamarcus Russell? Big cannon of an arm, arm strength does not always mean great things. Moore also threw the ball where he had to throw it.. He did screw up the throw on the INT, because he threw off his back foot. The TD to the middle of the field was a perfect throw, if he throws a bullet there the WR never gets to it.
Listen, just put the five or so ridiculous ones on ignore, and enjoy the rest of the posters. I was like you when I joined, didn't want to use the ignore feature...but I got over that really quickly. LOL. I added a new poster to that list today. One of the guys you're consistently arguing with believes Doughty was better than Tannehill, right after he was drafted. This site is really very good, and there's a lot of quality posters.
Gase was forced to take the job??? Gase would have turned it down if he thought he had no QB here. We offered the job to him...not forced him to take the job. That is a very very slim ties to anything
Didn't they say last night that the Dolphins were close to the last in the league on throws over 20 yards? I think it was attempts
he was offered the job as a solution to fixing Tannehill, he knew that going in. Gase has said he didn't know t hat much on Tannehill and would have to watch more film on him.
and yet Pennington was wildly successful, it is called knowing the game and anticipating what is going on. pocket awareness
Give Gase more credit than that..no Coach takes a job without really knowing about the players he is getting. Gase wants to win more than enhance his QB whisper aura. He would play the guy who gives him the best chance to win...Period. Right now that is Moore because Tannehill is hurt. Lets just win these games and get into the playoffs.
Im trying to recall but pretty sure Miami did not run one screen play last night, which is run often with Tannehill. I have never seen Miami try to get as vertical as last night or as aggressive on offense with Tannehill.

And that'll work with Moore when it comes against an opposing defense that's gameplanning to stop the run, and/or has to stay honest against the run game because the scoreboard is relatively even. It's when Moore has to win the game with his arm that his sort of downfield aggressiveness isn't likely to be as effective. He isn't Aaron Rodgers, who can win that way even when he's carrying his team. He's a guy who can play well with that style if the game isn't on his shoulders. If the game gets lopsided and Moore has to bring the team back through the air, he's far more likely to lose the game with that aggressiveness than he is to win it. This is why the Dolphins' defense has to take it upon themselves to stop opposing offenses during this run.
The bigger elephant in the room is that the Miami Dolphins look to be a team that are two good linebackers away from being a serious Superbowl contender. Some guards might be welcome as well.
We're not built to come back from huge deficits regardless of whoever is QB'ing. Neither of them is "that guy".
I think you have to add a defensive end to the primary needs as well. Mario Williams is a relic at this stage. I think you try hard to keep Branch around but not at much more than 5-5.5 million a season. We also need to acquire another young defensive tackle that we can groom to take Earl Mitchell's spot. I don't advocate jettisoning Mitchell until we have someone who can man that position within the DT rotation. Linebacker, much like running back can provide talent from lower rounds. I think we have enough talent at corner to leave that alone until later in the draft/FA, as we don't need someone to start, we need someone for depth. But the front seven needs the most attention IMO. Adding two players to that group who see significant time could vastly improve the unit.
Only game I remember us getting screen happy this season was the ravens. Outside of that we've been attacking down field all season. Stills has 4 50+yd plays this season, only one of them was from Moore. Landry's never taken a simple slant to the house like that before. That was new. And had very little to do with Moore.
The seam-busting tight end would make the biggest difference in my opinion. Yes the linebackers are a priority too.
No neither of them isn't, but with Tannehill you won't get the same interception-proneness. Moore will lose games for you that Tannehill won't.
You're not understanding what I said. Tannehill typically gets going by working underneath first and getting his legs moving outside of the pocket - then he looks to go deep. Moore is different in that he's always been primarily a vertical passer.
Miami is terrible at stopping the run and IMO, that is primarily on the linebackers. They are also terrible at covering running backs and tight ends. A seem-busting tight end would help, however, I think competent linebackers would be a much bigger help.
Assuming the team is going forward with Tannehill, which I think is a good assumption, I would target a tight end in the first round and linebackers soon thereafter. I think you can find quality linebackers in rounds two and three, whereas the talent among tight ends probably falls sharply after the first round. Those guys who have size and run 4.5s at tight end tend to get yanked off the board early, leaving only those lumbering types that don't create nearly the mismatch.
I think linebackers has been a primary need for several years now, and I really don't see how we don't address it in the draft this time around. With the boost in corner production I think we are confident there, and I don't think we need much on the offensive side of the ball except depth at line. So I'm thinking OL and LB should be 3 of the first 4 rounds, unless we grab a QB to start mentoring for down the road.
Because Tannehill and Rodgers are the same, right? I dont think Moore should start over Thill but the offense doesnt take much of a hit if at all with Moore in there. Tannehill had a good year, finally but comparing him in any way to an elite QB is silly.
