As it stands now, we face the winner of Steelers vs. Ravens next week, correct? Although we've lost to the Ravens and beat the Steelers handily I think I would still rather face Flacco in the playoffs the Ben.
Right now, it seems very likely that if we make it, we'll play the AFC North winner, yes. It looks like the South winner will probably be 9-7.
The playoff picture looks very muddled now. Miami has to just keep winning. I'm afraid if we lose next week, it might be over. Late-season vs Bills in their home stadium with a backup QB does not appeal to me. McCoy has been money, and Taylor sort of scares me with this D a bit. Need Ajayi and the run game to step it up and keep those two off the field. Have a feeling that loss against the Ravens is gonna bite our ***.
The only game that hurt is is the Steelers and Ravens. Texans/Titans will fight it out for the division. We need to root for the Steelers to win next week, They have Browns Week 17. Miami just needs to win. Next week scares me with the Bills, and Rex Ryan liking to play spoiler
Those are two games. I really wanted the Ravens to lose big time. I've just never liked that team. Damn the Eagles.
The heck with that, I'm still rooting for the Pats to finish the season 0-3. It shouldn't happen but darn it, that doesn't mean I'm not rooting for it just the same. Additionally, Denver is probably going to lose 2 out of the last 3. As long as Miami beats the Bills, everything will work out in the end regardless if we're playing for a Wild Card or the division.
Yeah, I agree. I can't really see myself rooting for the Patsies, either. Feels really dirty, so I'm not gonna. Just let the game play itself out. Would be nice if Brady got sacked a bunch, though.
The KC loss helps us, it makes it more likely for NE to have locked up the number 1 going into week 17, thereby resting starters against us. Gotta root for an Oakland loss now along with a Pats win today, obviously.
KC loss also means that if they lose the next two (vs. Broncos, at San Diego) and Miami goes 10-6, the Dolphins would be the 5th seed I think. Which means playing the AFC South winner instead of the much tougher Ravens/Steelers. I know the Titans have a head-to-head tiebreaker over Miami, but they play the Texans, so one of those teams is finishing 9-7. So we don't really have to hope Denver loses anymore now that they lost to NE. If the Phins beat the Bills, then we can cheer for them to beat KC. I doubt KC loses both, but who knows. Of course if Miami goes 11-5, that'd be even better.
and no more rooting for the Patriots! I hope they don't win a game for the rest of the season! Id love to see Miami win next week, Denver lose, and we are in!
Ravens are still a game back. So if they lose to Pittsburgh, and Miami wins one more (hopefully they do it in Buffalo and get it over with), Ravens can only go 9-7 at best. However, PITT can lose to Baltimore and still go 10-6. Dolphins have tiebreaker over them though, well head-to-head. It gets tricky if its a multiple team tie. Basically just hope the Steelers beat the Ravens because that takes care of them.
I think so, They win next week, Pitts out, they lose, and win week 17 and we lose, we are still in. I think, ive been playing around with the Generator and dont see a way where we are out, if we win and denver loses next weekend http://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs/machine
The reason we still want Denver to lose is because they almost certainly beat us in any tie breaker if both end up 10-6. Conference record is tied in that case but "common games" record is not if we beat Buffalo and lose to Pats. Common games are: Patriots, Chargers, Titans, Bengals. We played Pats twice, they played Chargers twice. If we beat Buffalo but lose to the Pats, they are 2-3 in those 5 games while we're 1-4. If we lose to Buffalo but beat the Pats, then we almost certainly lose the next tie breaker which is strength of victory (they're +40 on us now). So all it takes is another team at 10-6 or 11-5 for the WC to kick us out in that case. You could get that if Pitt and Ravens both go to 10-6 (Ravens take division), or you could get that if KC loses to Denver but not to the Chargers, in which case they're 11-5, etc.. In all these cases we're the odd one out. So we still want Denver to lose.
Welp, with the Oakland win it all but assures New England will have something to play for in week 17. We're going to need that win in Buffalo.
Agreed that we need the win in Buffalo, but don't count out a hot Indianapolis club to give Oakland some problems next week. If they can come up with an upset (assuming New England topples the Jets) the Pats will have home field clinched.
