Ya that play floored me. Didn't think that was possible. And he's just an acquaintance really...we're not tight...we just happen to be fans of the same team. The other two Dolphins fans I fairly routinely talk to didn't even know about the throw...so there you have it.
Here's an example: "Read deuce straight flush brown out" - Basically, it's when you're reading a newspaper on the pot. The route? Down the drain.
That wasnt what I was referring to. This was: (You have said from early in the season that QB Ryan Tannehill was the clear cut No. 1 coming out of camp and everything. If he were able to come back in the late regular season or mid-playoffs, does he go right back to No. 1? Does it depend on how QB Matt Moore plays the next couple of games?) – “Ryan, he’s the starting quarterback. So whenever he’s healthy, he’s the starting quarterback.” http://media.miamidolphins.com/transcripts/adam-gase-december-12-2016/ I mean how clear can you get? Ryan is the starting QB...whenever he is healthy..hes the starting QB. Not..2016...when hes healthy. So yall can take both index fingers...stick them in each ear..and go lalalalalalala cant hear you...but Gase has said..hes the starting QB. End .
I know, let's make a bet. If the Tannehill era is over (not due to prospective injury issues, but because you're right about Gase wanting to move on), I'll leave the site. If you're wrong, Finster, you leave the site. Fair?
Thanks VT, I was sure I had just heard him say that... thought it was pretty clear. Not much what he said can be twisted at all, but I'm sure some will try spinning it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't think either of you needs to leave the site regardless of who's right. I do think whoever is wrong should publicly admit it though. Since this is a testable prediction we'll only need to wait till the offseason to see what happens to Tannehill.
Im in on tbe if tannehill is traded or has his option not picked up by the 5th day of the new league year i will walk the plank Barring that cast coming off and it looking like his career is over
So, you mean, the Ryan Tannehill once the streak started. Top 10 in a TRAINLOAD of crucial categories, including Top 3 passer rating for the team, and rated 7th in YPA. Ya, that guy.
Some people just have to be right no matter what. Their mind will distort reality to let them think they are right. The rest of us know better. A fascinating phenomena to be sure.
Some people can't enjoy success and prefer to dwell on.. Welll, whatever they can. They need to convince themselves they've spoiled the enjoyment for others to get their satisfaction because they will never get it on their own. That's why certain posters come here that know jack **** but try their little Asses off to convince strangers they're knowledgeable! It's sooo sad.
If miami is dumb enough to let him go (which we arent now that we found competence in the building with adam gase) you can bet that there will be suitors more than willing to pick up that option in trade Should miami actually float tannehill
His performance statistically during that period of time was no different from his performance during the last 13 games of 2014. In between was a slightly below average 21 games, comprised of the entire 2015 season and the first five games of the 2016 season. So will Tannehill in 2017 be the above average guy from the last 13 games of 2014 and his last 8 games of the 2016 season (21 games total), or the somewhat below average guy from the 2013 season, the first 3 games of the 2014 season, the entire 2015 season, and the first five games of the 2016 season (40 games total). I'm excluding his rookie season here, for obvious reasons. I don't know the answer to that question with any certainty. But the people making the decisions for the team should certainly consider this question in my opinion, if they want to make a decision about Tannehill that's in the best interests of the team.
Ya you'd think he'd be top 3 in all measureables with a brand new coaching staff and offensive system to earn his "average" salary, from game 1 on. Yes...it's AVERAGE compared to the other QBs in the league (minus rookies). I don't know why people keep saying he makes some exorbitant amount of cash, but for the QB position, it's not a hell of a lot...it's middle of the road. And no, his performance during the streak up to the injury this year were NOT the same as those previous periods. There are several statistics he was way up in compared to those periods. Including red zone (#1) and deep passing (top 3, #1 in some sub-categories) and #1 in passing under pressure...IN THE LEAGUE. He NEVER got those numbers before this year.
Maybe when washington gives kirk cousins $120 million people will appreciate tannehills contract more As for t hills performance id say the last 8 games of 2016 were the best of his career...i also dont think its a coincidence that we got a competent o line together during that stretch which really was the hold up all along but i guess i cant quantify that in any other way than what my eye balls told me watching those game tapes... Gase even said that the qb was the most consistent thing those first 5 weeks. Of course people interpreted the taking away of the no huddle offense as a qb knock when really no team has ever from week 1 in a new system ran a full no huddle o short of the none qb freedom what i call is what you run regardless of what the defense shows you sheer play volume chip kelly offense when he first got to philly...which teams figured out by year two even... As for 2015 living in 3rd and 8 plus with no run game no defense no pass protection dumpster fire o line play and teams able to rush 4 and drop 7 and get to the qb in a nanosecond along with no tempo and a offense designed to be short passing game id say 24 and 12 was exceeding expectations...he should have thrown picks out the nose chasing the scoreboard chasing the sticks and in 3rd and long all season long...but not tannehill And thats with dallas thomas in his lead leg all year long Fast forward to 2016 new offense new route combinations qb setting up and verifying protections qb checking out at the los into plays that resulted in big gains like during those 200 yard ajayi games from under center changing plays from one side to tbe other based on what he saw pre snap which many of those off tackle ajayi big runs were a result of... Qb that you can run pistol with you can run zone read with you can run under center you can run 3 and 5 and 7 step drops with qb that you can roll out and boot with qb that you can move tbe pocket with qb that you can ask to make pre snap reads verify protections id and account for blitzers make site adjustments and hand signals with reads leverage and throws accordingly vs it and is tough as shoe leather to boot willing to stand in and take any shot you can dish out oh and hes also a high level move athlete Oh and lets not forget the head and eye discipline in his drops As far as throws he can hit the vertical seam he can hit the come back he can hit the stop route he can hit any in cut you want to throw he throws a damn good deep ball hes got active feet thru his progressions and is in step almost to a t with the timing of the routes and the ball out of hand He shreds it in red zone he passes at a 67 percent clip and a 7.7 average per which prior people said was a qb driven number when this year proves it was an offense driven one in the past Yeah folks the end of the tannehill era is a pipe dream
EXACTLY as I felt. I didn't know what was more bizarre and preposterous, the actual post or the timing of it. We are all super high beating one of our hated rivals, probably the high point of the season for the players and fans. And someone decides it's a great time to piss in everyone's cheerios. Anyone who Flaunts such a loser mentality should be shunned. What a disgrace. Physcology 101: someone uncontent with the present will ponder Favorable hypotheticals of the future. Sadly being 9-5, our newfound success... has set guys like the OP off into a tailspin of methods to derail the fun everyone is having. What could go wrong? Don't worry these guys have a wish list! The season is already over for finster...... He's already admitting defeat with his discontent. Winning is farthest from paramount.... It's more about trying so hard to be right just this once, when you're always wrong. Imagine having a Screenname ego..... Poor souls !
Tannehill's $77M contract compared to Cutler's $126.7M, Luck's $122.97M, and CKrap's $114M sure seems like a steal to me.
I think its like $96 million if we pick it up but im telling ya miami doesnt care...its the easiest decision they have to make this offseason if the knee is no long term effect on his career outlook wise Teams dont let 94 rating trending up first year in a system qbs go especially ones that give you so many different ways to attack the opposition...this isnt read option and pistol only and suspect play from the pocket The good news is miami now has a real shot to hoist some lombardis in our future with this qb and this head coach and i think moore probably gets brought along for the ride barring some stupid contract demands where he prices himself out for his role
Ya $96M with the option...which will almost certainly get exercised, like you said, if no long term injury effect. Even then he's the #14 paid QB (based on average salary). Heckuva bargain IMO.
Yes it's a diagonal route that is a little more horizontal at the end. All you need to do is follow 27 as he comes into frame and he veers right. It's not a bad throw but could've been better. Stills is good at adjusting so it was a successful play. Just maybe a degree to the left and it's a TD.
So, what is the goal here? I really don't understand. To be right? Is the self esteem that low? What happens when Tannehill wins a superbowl? What's the OP's punishment? Or does he get to say "I knew it all along"?
This is a perfect example of the insanity on this forum. Tannehill evades the pressure on the rollout, throws a 50+ yard strike on the dead run without setting his feet, after which Stills incorrectly estimates where he is on the field and runs out of bounds. Yet Tannehill gets slammed for the pass not being "a degree to the left". Meanwhile, Matt Moore is awesome because he's a "gamer". Whatever the f*** that means.
Open question to those who think I'm crazy. How was I able to predict the O was going to change from dink and dunk? Just pure luck? Even though it fits my theory perfectly? As Brad said, there are a couple games to go, but that was a wide open pass attack, no dink and dunk. So can someone come up with a theory as to how I was able to predict it? Do that and then we have a convo.
That is the problem. The offense did not change much. Miami Dolphins have had one of the most explosive offenses this season. The biggest changes is the fact that the "wildcat" type plays were no longer in play. Moore actually hurt the offense and made the running game worse.
Moore hurt the offense......lmao! Wow, really, what game did you watch. Ok, a little insight to the Jets defensive strategy. They knew that they were going up against a QB who hasn't played in 5 years. They figured that Miami would lean on the run game and make Moore beat them. Moore threw 4 TDs and was only sacked once against a none stop blitz. To say that Moore made the running game worse is idiotic. The Jets played damn good against the run. Moore and our receivers beat them. Not only that but our oline sucked. This Saturday is going to be a big test. The Bills at home in December is a horrible game for us and always has been. The weather in that hell hole is going to be horrible. I highly doubt that we see many deeps passes. Tannehill has never won in Buffalo and is only 3-6 thus far. If Moore wins there Saturday, I think that the argument in favor of Moore gets stronger. I wouldn't just let Tannehill leave Miami. The only way I would let him go is by trade and for a LOT of picks. I'd want Cleveland's 1st, 2nd and another pick in 2018. Just look at what Dallas has done. Their success isn't mainly due to Dak. They have the best oline in the NFL. Dallas went back to the basics and what helped to make them successful in the early 90s. True, it's nice to have a awesome QB but that doesn't always translate to wins and/or SBs.
Okay, we're talking about two different quotes...and you're pulling from something before Moore threw up 4 TD's in 3 quarters. But that's fine, play the "lalalala can't hear you game" all you want. As I've already said, I like Tannehill and I think he should be the 2017 starter. But playoff football has a funny way of changing someone's viewpoint; anyone who assumes that Tannehill is a 100% lock is naive. Just look at Romo, Manning, Favre, etc...they were all locks as well and a heck of a lot better than Tannehill...yet they sat the bench just the same.
Like Big O says "Just enjoy the ride" don't worry about anything else. We haven't been this optimistic in a long time.
So again. We are trading a QB worth a 1st, 2nd and another pick and keeping the clearly inferior 33 year old who's thrown 800 passes in 10 years. Again. In this situation are the dolphins or the browns the smart ones? This isn't like soccer and saying he's dropping down to the championship out of the premier league. He isn't gonna face lesser competition and look better. He'll be playing the exact same teams. I'll point out again that Moore has sat behind RT for 5 years and not a single team has tried to trade for him. Why?
Ironically, I think I'm mostly on your side here....but I'll offer an alternate explanation anyway. First off, I remember you supporting Moore on another forum so you know his history- he's not a dink and dunk guy. Never has been. You also know that if he sees an opportunity, he's going to let it rip and deal with the consequences later. So it wasn't a surprise when Gase said that he went "off script" a few times during that game- that's just who Moore is. Your prediction was true (as was mine) because we knew how Moore takes charge on the field. The other side of that equation is that Moore has absolutely nothing to lose. Gase has already said that he's playing Tannehill regardless, so it's not like Moore is fighting for a starting job. Heck, he likes being a backup. His wife loves it. So he was just out there having fun and being a leader. If you saw him on the sidelines or a close-up in the huddles, there was zero stress or worry in his eyes. Others were smiling around him- including Tannehill. When's the last time you saw RT that happy on the sidelines? I can't ever remember seeing him like that in a must-win game. I'm not saying your theory is wrong here, but there are lots of other things that can explain why we didn't play conservative. Hell, Moore only threw 18 total passes because that's all he had to throw....that's definitely not going to happen every week. Plus the Jets were absolute idiots leaving the middle of the field 100% empty; any veteran QB worth his salt is going to attack the same way. So let's see what happens over these next few games and if the scores come that easy.
Other teams have tried to trade for him and he received multiple offers in free agency. He decided to stay in Miami at a hometown discount to keep his wife happy.
that statement says everything and says very clearly that your perception isn't based on the reality that has been the last 9 games when we've gone 8-1. You continue to prove over and over what we all know, that what you think you know isn't as much as you really know and we all know it.
