Kinda like this, some attitude these guys are ready to play against some other competition!! http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2008/08/a-rumble-in-the.html [admin]Please limit quotes to 1-2 paragraphs.[/admin]
Yeah saw this on the live morning blog. Hope it started from players just being intense and nothing "really" started it. That is the kind of attitude we are trying to instill into the team and perhaps its finally begining to show. Hopefully in translate to the same in your face, take no crap, attitude on the field against our opponents.
Allen began punching on Kircus who fell to the turf and basically went into a fetal position as Allen stood over him. I'm glad someone stood up for Kircus...allen doing that is chicken s***.
Senseless... sure you want your guys to be fired up and have a tough guy attitude. But crap like this is nonsense, and stupid. It's a lack of discipline. Which doesnt surprise me much considering how many dumb penalties this team always takes. And "fights" like this, against your own teammates now in training camp while most say ... oh... no big deal... well it happens in TC, just imagine when it happens on the field because will allen can't control his apparent temper... and we get slapped with 15 yards, and allen is tossed from the game. Not so great then is it? I know, I know... its only TC... but still... Undisciplined players take dumb penalties. This sounds like its a dumb as it gets.
if allen wasn't our best DB, i'd want him off the team. this kind of crap combined with his off-season activities? he's a thug man. kircus should get a gold star and a guaranteed roster spot for not losing his cool.
Not sure if he "kept his cool" as much as he's a white guy who was getting the **** kicked out of him by a black guy. He kept his cool by default
Oh I agree, and I wasn't trying to make it racial although it did come out that way. Was more or less putting myself in that situation. I'd have curled up in the fetal position as well...
Glad to see you know your role if the two of us ever get into it. (j/k) But eh, I won't comment on this. Although there's a clear description of what went down, I don't buy into he say/she say. I mean, something obviously led up to Allen's out burst, and who knows what it was. What if Kircus said something about the guy's family?
It's all good! I will say this, one of the hardest lesson's I ever learned was walking away from a fight...as my grandfather said, it takes a bigger man to walk away!
TC fights have been going on since Art Donovan was a youngster, nothing really to see here... Kircus should knock the hell out of Allen on the next running play and then they can be friends again. You can never let yourself be intimidated on the football field even if that means wearing a beat down for standing up for yourself.
My dad used to say that as well, then once I tried to be funny and slapped him across the face Rick James style... he punched me in the stomach so hard I shat blood for a week. Guess he wasn't that big of a man...
Strange timing too, as Kirkus was a guest on The Joe Rose Show just this morning at about 7:30 am. They may even have it up on the 560 QAM website by now if you want to listen.
Yep,me too. I would'nt put this in the same catagory as Steve Smith but it tells me they need to hit something besides themselves. I don't think BP and company mind this at all.Train the pitbull, then let it out of it's cage when it's ready.(Not a Vick j/k) Gotta like that attitude.
the above from PFT. You know, the difference is, Allen saw that Kircus wasn't fighting back, and thus relented. he did the right thing. I don't see a need for suspensions. If he did what the shrimpinator did in Carolina, and kept going and going and had to be pulled off, thats another story.
Then its domestic violence, and there is no call for someone to put their hands on anyone else in violence.
I can't say what happened because I wasn't there. But somebody made a good point about this kind of situation. If a receiver injures his hands in a fight with helmets, that does not bode well for him. Especially a guy like Kircus who's fighting for a roster spot after a year out of the league. Again, I don't know what happened. And Kircus may well have wanted to throw back but was getting beaten up. What we do know is, you don't jump a teammate. Kircus, intentionally or not, saved his hands. And Tony Sparano got on Will Allen's *** afterwards.
So what was his penalty ? Did he serve time and what happened to Parcells directive against having "thugs and hoodlums" on the team ? Does anyone have the cojones in a presser to ask Sparano that question ?
Kircus knows this is likely his last chance in the NFL and his coaches will know this and why he appeared not to "fight back", it was smart on his part.
Well Ireland wouldn't have signed him thinking there would be a problem during the season with a trial I am sure. But breaking bones in someone's face is pretty serious assault charge and I can't see how he can get out of a prison sentance.
Parcells made the thugs statement to some college kids ... but when it comes down to money, and the NFL is all about money, I don't doubt they'll overrlook some stuff.
Ummmm, I remember him making it at his introductory press conference. Anyone else remember that as well ?
