No reason to use his bad half as a way to prop of Tanny guys...we need Moore to have a much better second half.
Speaking of tunnel vision, explain to us again how Miami won't be able to run the football against the 28th ranked run D in Buffalo. Or maybe your fan club can explain it- they sure did enjoy saying how wrong I was too.
Well.. to the topic of Moore, great comeback after a disastrous 1st half. Ended up playing real well for about half a game. After two games with Moore I'd argue our W/L record (2-0) against the Jets and Buffalo is probably the same whether Tannehill or Moore was the QB, though the games might have looked a bit different. In any case, all we need now is a Denver loss and we're in. Would be great if Denver could lose tomorrow so we can rest some guys (e.g. Ajayi) next week!
It's clear we had a quitter in our midst. His so-called "support" from last week melted away in 2 quarters.
Asbad as he looks at times I like Moore. He seems to lead a charmed life so far. He's our fuzzy little good luck charm
2nd half play > 1st half play When we play in the playoffs, it's not how you start but how you finish. I'll take a good Matt Moore in the 2nd half than a good Matt Moore in the first if we had to pick what half our QB could only be good in. We all would want him to be good in all four quarters but it is what it is. Proud of this team. Defense did what it needed to do with who we have. So many players on defense missing this year due to injury. With Moore playing more and getting more reps in practice with the first unit it will hopefully shake his rust off come playoff time. Get him in this Patriots game at home and let him rip it all over the field if we clinch the wildcard tomorrow to get that rust out.
I'm not going to excuse his first half play - as there were some throws he should've had and I cursed at him in the game thread about it.. Yet, the field was slick and there were swirling winds in the stadium. It clearly messed with some of his throws. It helps when he gets more time in with this offense and the starters.
Not saying Moore is better than Tannehill but what I like about Moore that Tannehill will pick up next year is to get rid of the ball and not taking the sack for negative yards. For the record to repeat myself. I acknowledge that Tannehill is obviously the better quarterback, this is his team until he retires. I just for some reason have a yuge bias for Moore. I like him more for some weird reason. Tannehill > Moore but to me Matt Moore is more fun to watch.
Yup.. we've now had 3 no sack games this season. Last year we did that was 2009 when Chad Henne was the QB!
Moore is nowhere near Tannehill in the talent department. I think Ryan would have feasted on the terrible Bills team.. I will say though, Moore is excellent in the pocket.. He moves immediately the moment he senses pressure... Hopefully Ryan is watching and will start doing the same more often.
We don't know that. Ryan didn't feast on them when we played them in Miami under better conditions. If anything this game played out similarly as the last time with Ajayi leading the way. Ryan was 15-25 for 204 yards 1 TD and a sack. Matt today was 16-30 for 233 yards 2 TD's 1 INT and zero sacks.
Sorry Rocky, Ryan NEVER has had the type of protection Matt Moore had today in Buffalo. It's normally a bloodbath there. I post mostly in Club but there hasn't been a bigger critic of Ryan than I have been. I've come around during this streak. The offensive line was DOMINANT today. Yes, maybe Tannehill would have taken a sack or two but his pure talent, deep ball and ability to throw down the middle of the field would have been on display today. Not saying Moore had a bad game, but if this team has a chance to make noise in the playoffs it MUST be with Ryan Tannehill under center.
Show me then where the protection was so poor in the first matchup. Some of the "protection" is actually Moore's instinctual feel in the pocket, which Ryan has needed 5 years to develop and is still a work in progress.
In defense of Moore when people made the same claim about Tannehill after the Houston game last year this place imploded.
I thought the Bills defense played much worse this game. That was one of the worst tackling efforts I have ever seen. Moore's TERRIBLE first half helped keep the Bills in this game. Moore played much better in the second half, thank God. A "C" grade seemed fair.
How about when the trolls hung on RT having a bad first half? Goes both ways. Moore's first half was horrid, and there were plenty of guys open throughout. He missed some big ones (which Tannehill gets raped for).
Well our defense actually helped keep the Bills in it. I could be wrong though but that's what it looked like to me.
We're holding him two it. But I also don't expect the world of the guy after his 2nd start. He's gotta clean it up - luckily next week we won't have to deal with the wetness and wind.
But those were "excuses" for Tannehill at Buffalo...wind and weather, wetness etc. I'm not surprised...I'm not bagging on Moore, he's our guy and I support him, but if Tannehill had a game like he did today, you all would be hiring a lynch mob, and you know it. 2nd start or not...and he's had much more time to learn this system and practice in it than Tannehill did in early games...that don't wash, particularly after he looked MUCH better last week. Everybody knew he wouldn't look as good against Buffalo, they have a good passing defense.
Right now, we just need Moore to get more reps in. Moore is technically playing as if it was week two of the season.
I wouldn't be howling over anything. Take it up with other booger eaters who don't factor in game conditions. There were sloppy passes in the first half that are all on Matt so not denying it. But look at how he adjusted in the 2nd half. I mean for Christ sakes it's his second start this year after a 5 year layaway.
The defense didn't really break down as much until the second half. In the first half they were doing adequately. If Moore could have made some basic NFL throws, then Miami could have been up by 3 or 4 touchdowns in the third quarter. Moore did play better in the second half. Played well enough to win the game.
He had some stinkers in the 2nd half too, but ya he was much better. Listening how his teammates say he prepares, and with how he played last week, the 2nd start thing doesn't wash IMO...he's a seasoned vet, he just can't make all the throws. Never has been able to.
If we're going to play the adjustment game "If he hit throws" - this game plays out much differently IF the refs don't job the Bills on a non-PI call which we then turned around and went up 14-0. There offense was steamrolling us and it's a different game if we don't get up 2 scores.
