Do you go for the win at home, or hold out starters?

    Things pending:

    - Does KC play starters? They play a later game in San Diego, so who knows?

    - Would you rather play Houston or Pittsburgh?

    - Do the Patsies come to play?

I personally would like to rest the starters. But I also would like to win the game.

I would rest the defense moreso than the offense; mainly Suh and Wake. I'd let the DBs play. Let the LBs play because we don't really have an option. I'd rest Landry and Ajayi.

Again, I want to win against NE, so maybe those guys go in if we need something.

I'm Christmas confused because of the Pinot.

    What do y'all think??

  5. This is a pretty easy choice for me. I treat next week like a preseason game. Run a very vanilla scheme. Keep everyone loose but rested for the pitt game.

Pitt is very winnable for us. Coaches can spend the next two weeks game planning for it instead of wasting time planning against the pats.

If they beat the steelers we headed to NE next and no point in showing them our hand the week before. Test a few things on them to find cracks week 17 but play real basic stuff. Get everyone healed up should be our goal and keep moral up.

Playing for the 5th seed is a bad idea because it really offers little advantage and they would need to play hard and hope for a little luck for it to happen.

Big deal they get the texans. Easier to beat than the steelers most likely but after that theres no big advantage. Ok we play oakland next and they are missing their starter. Say they win there too. Guess who is between us and the superbowl. Yup the pats in ne. A team you just played hard against and showed at least part of your hand a few weeks before.

I rather take on the pats to get to the conference championship than to get to the superbowl. Team will be fresher and better prepared for the pats sooner rather than later.

The team that scares me is tonights chiefs. They looked tough. I respect the pats but we can beat them. The chiefs look hungry and will be tough to handle. They may be going to the superbowl this year to take on dallas.

Moore plays regardless. The reps are secondary, but necessary. Tannehill has two weeks to get well. I think that's about four weeks from his injury.

He visited James Andrews in Pensacola to receive treatment at his world-class facility. Dr. James Andrews (for those who do no know) is "the shizzle" in the world of orthodpaedics.

With that, everyone heals and recovers differently.

Can Tannehill recover enough to play in the playoffs?

If Miami is to win a game in Pittsburgh, I think Tannehill needs to be fairly healthy. I'm not sure I'd trust Moore to win one up there.

I hope Tannehill is heals quickly enough to play a month after his injury; whether it be in Houston or Pittsburgh.

I wholeheartedly agree with you; the Chiefs are scary as hell. I know I wouldn't want to play them, and I don't think anyone else wants to play them, either.

We're in the playoffs. I know anything could happen, and I have to believe that Miami needs a few things to go their way to be successful in the dance.

I just want Miami to dance as long as they can.

Rest everyone. Evaluate the players on the depth chart.

Worst possible outcome here is suffering more injuries.

Not sure Gase will do it though. I suspect he's a 'no retreat, no surrender' sort of guy, who won't back down from a chance to beat the Patriots.

If i'm Adam Gase I would absolutely play 100% - when you enter the playoffs as a 5/6 seed you want to be hot as possible - Pittsburgh and the Giants have won SB's from this position by getting hot and staying hot.

If the chips fall the right way (KC losing to San Diego) then you are looking at a much more winnable (in my opinion) game at Houston instead of Pittsburgh.

On a side note, I wouldn't be too scared of KC - when it comes to the elimination part of the season Andy Reids shortcomings become even more magnified - poor clock management, overly conservative game-plan. What we saw last night was a Bronco's D that has folded under almost 2 full seasons of back breaking ineptness from its offence, not an elite KC offence at work.

Disclaimer: If I could be Adam Gase for one day I would reach an agreement with the Patriots to lose 3-0 and rest as many people as possible ;)

When the Gianys and Steelrs got hot they had win or go home games for the last 6or 7 weekes of the seasn. Our situation is different. I think we are too thin to risk injuries n the OL ar at LB , RB and DB if we can ovoid them.

What? Rest our guys and get steamrolled by the Patsies? If I understand correctly, don't they need to win to get home field advantage throughout? They are coming in loaded for bear. We may go down, but if it's me, I am going down fighting. That's what got us here in the first place and I am not changing it up now. Of course, Gase is smarter than I am, but I would be very surprised if we rested our guys. If we did, I think we come out flat in game one of the playoffs.

I disagree very much that Pittsburgh is a more winnable game than Houston. Pittsburgh (especially at home) is unbeatable right now. that offense and Big Ben are rolling in their home games.

We are not a great team yet. I play all our starters next week (and not just because I'm at the game) to keep the momentum rolling. Having said that, I rotate in Kenyon Drake and D Williams ALOT to give AJayi a rest. If I had to pick one starter to rest, it's Ajayi

I'd be very surprised if we didn't try to win next week. Miami is playing for so much more than the playoffs right now; they're playing for respect. Beating the Pats would be a huge momentum boost going into the playoffs regardless if it gives us a better seed or not.

Were considered one of the weak contenders in this dance, yet we've earned every right to be there, were not eeking into anything.
The worst thing is getting spanked out like we never belonged there in the first place. Next week against the mighty Patriots could mean:
    1. an opportunity to show we've not only earned it, but win or lose, that we belong there. If the Patriots are loading up, we load up, by no means come in light, but ready for war as the playoffs for us will begin there and then. We would view that as our AFC Championship Round and all the accolades that would otherwise come with it. It would be our likeliest chance to make a real difference, and our greatest chance at major respect.
    2. an opportunity to rest our team. All bets are off if the Pats come in light-handed. If so, we match it as there would be nothing worse than losing, or even struggling mightily against their 2nd stringers. Morale would be lowered, for minimal gain, even if we win.

Win or lose its all about respect. Having earned it when arriving at the playoffs, and keeping it when we leave them.

This team still has a chance at the 5 seed. They should not be arbitrarily resting players. They should be trying to beat NE and keep the momentum they have.

You have to approach the game to win. The players have to play very hard and keep the edge going. You can't really half-*** a game as a player because that can also lead to injury.

However, that doesn't mean they can't get some needed rest from starters. I would give some of the vets (Albert, Bushrod on the OL; Ajayi (b/c of his shoulder nick); and the older D-line guys) a lighter practice schedule this week and not play them much in the game - maybe 1st half. But, still have the subs ready to go. Play hard and coach hard.

Teams rest players during the week all the time at this time of year anyway when a player is nicked and is a game time decision. So, this is probably the way to go. Rest injured players and vets. And lots of teams have lighter practices this time of year.

I also agree that they need to spend extra-time this week game planning for Pittsburgh. But, most teams, even with byes, don't actually practice for a team until the week of. The coaching staff gets ready - and probably needs a big more vanilla game plan against the Pats and then be ready for both Pittsburgh and Houston (just in case we happen to pull an upset and KC loses). Very unlikely we play Houston so it would not be a lot of work done there.

The Steelers, however, need some work. We will need to score points as their big 3 weapons on offense will put up a lot and free up other offensive players. So, we need a better defensive scheme and the offense will have to be super sharp and have some ingenuity to attack the Steelers D.

Imagine us preparing for the Steelers this week, when we have the Pats to play, and then we end up playing Hou.

I can't imagine a HC feeling stupider, and I'd want him fired to boot, and he'd deserve that.

  27. That's the dilemma he faces bit im not sure losing next week is a bad idea if the mood in the locker room is cocky. Sometimes a loss right before the playoffs is the right medicine to keep guys focused and working hard in practice. Its a good reminder to them that its too soon to celebrate. The goal isnt to excede expectations. The goal is bring the lombardi home to miami where it belongs.

This city has waited long enough for it to return. Its a long shot but anythong can happen on any given sunday. Gase should be putting a big chip on their shoulders after next week. Telling them nobody believes they can do it, etc etc etc.

Yhe one advantage we have going forward is we are a trap team post season. They all are underestimating the dolphins. Exploit that and kick some teeth in all the way into feburary.

Wouldnt it be nice if all our all pros have to decline their invitation this year because they will be busy preparing for the last game of the season.

Count me as a believer again. I was in a wait n see mode preseason. Now im thinking this team is good enough to beat anyone they play if they come out with their heads on straight.

Thank you coach gase for doing the impossible,

Restoring my faith in this team and rekindling my love for the game.

For me this is a no brainer. We continue to go balls to the walls, full bore destroy whomever our next opponent is. Despite Miami's impressive season, we've received no respect from anyone and I personally want to make everyone pay for that.

-I want to beat New England
-I want the AFC to look at Miami and say, "uh oh....we really don't want to play them"
-I want the AFC to look at Miami and ask, "Are they a fluke, or are they really THAT good?"

I want the Dolphins to be the the hot team going into the playoffs that no one really wants to face and the only way to be THAT team? BEAT the Patsies!!!!

  30. I think you missread my post. I said the texans are the easier team to beat. I think both teams are very much beatable though.

Also im calling bs on you not caring about seeing the starters play next week, lol.

I was almost going to go to the game too and i would want to see them playing hard too if i was going. I respect that.

In all seriousness i am a bit torn on which approach is better. I lean toward resting them but i do understand the benefit of continuing to ride the momentum they have. If miami wins next week thats a huge confidence boost for them. The pats will not laying up againsy us. They need to win to lock homefield advantage up on the off chance oakland can win with their backup.

Its a tough call to make and im glad its gase who makes it. He has his finger on the pulse of the team and i trust whatever he decides.

I hope you have a great time im at the game and start your new year off with a big fat W.

Do we want players who are happy with laying down and taking a loss, when there IS something to be gained by winning one more game? It is not completely in our control (Go Chargers!) but can this team check out for a game, then turn it back on when the playoffs start?

Injured players should rest of course, but I'd love to hang another loss on the Pats to end the regular season.
