I'd forgotten he was that good with the Expos as well, some monster seasons. I think Moreno will be able to push hard enough for him to go in as an Angel. Plenty of Angels fan to make the case for Vlad, no one will make the case for the Expos (minus some sports writers perhaps), hopefully that matters lol.

So I was at the game last night and Frankie blows the save and gives up 3 runs in 1/3 of an inning. I was pretty upset but was surprised by the crowds reaction. They booed him pretty good. He's having a great season and I just didnt think that was right and the fans should realize you cant be great everyday.

I was watching it on tv and thought the boos were a bit excessive and uncalled for too. The team is rolling, I guess people just expect them to win every time now. Even if that was a game they clearly should have won, it happens.

Agreed Brother! We have such a big lead in the division we can slip up every now and again. Just don't wanna make it a habit.

Good article on Tex. This caught my attention, though everything else about his plate discipline and what he brings to the lineup was interesting too

Sounds like he turned Texas down not because they werent offering enough money, but because he didnt want to be stuck on a loser. If that's true it improves our chances of getting him perhaps.

Seattle's front off is still horrible. I wonder what they were offered for Ibanez or if Detroit just put in a claim to block others.

Santana pitched great last night just to watch Shields mess it up. The Rays really have our number so far this season and we need to win tonight to avoid getting swept by them again.:pity:

Again another blown lead in the 8th:pity:, but fortunately a lot of breaks in the 9th:hi5:.
Ruggiano losing Texiera's easy fly ball in the roof, followed by a fortunate call at 3rd base on Figgins steal attempt. Finally GA's hard ground ball being knocked down but not fielded by Iwamura bailed out the Halos for a satisfying win in the former Thunderdome.

Ugly game last night. Once Juan Rivera has to sub in at 2B things are not looking good. Izturis already out for the season, Figgins with a banged up toe and now Kendrick is day-to-day with a bad hammy. The team is looking to trade for a vet backup at SS. I'd love to see Eckstein come back, but we'll see.

edit: forgot to mention Aybar left the game with a tight hammy also...

I'm a little annoyed we didnt pull the trigger on Eckstein. Seeing him play 2B for Arizona sucks when he should be helping us out instead. I dont trust Sean Rodriguez for any length of time, and Kendricks continued hammy issues are a concern.

Fun game last night. Dominate the Yankees and a fight ;) If we win tonight and Texas loses we clinch the division, fastest it has ever happened in the AL West. Santana on the mound, hopefully the offense saved something for tonight.

Torii Hunter's scuffle with Pudge was just weird. It's nice to see Wood finally start to show his potential. Also I'm beginning to worry about Howie,he's got major skills, but does seem to be a little "fragile".It was also nice to see John Garland have a good outing.

Big hit by Quinlan. If the Angels had left the bases loaded with no outs I would have cried lol. Hopefully we can hold on, and so can Seattle :)

Vlad over .300 now for the season. He can match Gehrig for most consecutive seasons hitting .300 w/ 25 HR this year at 11.

    :woot: AL West Champs!

Angels are the first team to clinch the playoffs, and ESPN.com's MLB section has the Cubs as the lead and Rays/Sox 2nd :pity:

Congrats on making the playoffs! Hopefully we'll see another Sox/Angels showdown (hopefully it will be in the ALCS though as I'd love to see a 7 game series between these two teams).

Congratulations to the Angels organization for their 4th division title in 5 years.Artie(who I think is the best owner in MLB),Tony and Mike job will done.I really think acquiring Tex is going to make the "difference" this season. This was the earliest clinching(previous was Sept.15 I believe I heard) of a AL west title in history.

On a side note I read this article today and I for the most part complete agree with it.

The Angels' Francisco Rodriguez will not get enough credit when he breaks Bobby Thigpen's all-time record of 57 saves in a season. Why? K-Rod needs just two saves to tie the record, and the Rays' recent struggles are generating more buzz.

FOX Sports on MSN - Ken Rosenthal - Save stat is flawed, but closers remain essential

Grats to Frankie on tying Thigpen. 57 saves is incredible.

That's a good way to say pay me by tying and possibly breaking a record. K-Rod's insanely talented. Right now, I'm hoping the Angels don't start taking things easy nor getting themselves dinged up. A fine line they're walking on.

Yeah. This is where Scioscia will be tested, and I have all the faith in the world that if any manager can do it he can. It's a fine line between resting players to get healthy for the playoffs and giving them too much time off or letting them get complacent. Coming out last night and beating up on Seattle (I know it's Seattle) after clinching the night before was a good sign imo.

They were kinda iffy on the past few seasons but I think the confidence level's there as well as the batting this season. Just need to keep up the mojo in the playoffs.

It's all about who gets hot at the right time. If the offense is rolling when the playoffs start I love our chances. If they cant hit with RISP and scrap out 2 or 3 runs it could be another disappointing playoffs.

If it comes down to signing Tex or resigning Frankie I'd say bye to Frankie. I just cant see giving a closer 75 mill.

Need that homefield. Boston is confident in our house and theirs but I'd rather play in Anaheim than Boston and the Rays seem to be a different team at home.

Also if we win 5 of the next 8 it'll be the 1st 100 win season in franchise history.
