If things were just, Gase would walk away with it.

The Cowboys are stacked talent-wise. Any coach worth his salt should be able to win with them.

Gase has been super impressive, especially with changing the culture and mentality of this team. So impressive.

That said, i think garrett will win this

Let me start by saying... I live in Austin. I hate the Cowboys.

That being said... There's no way you can had Gase COY over Garrett. Say what you want about Dallas or how much talent they have.... They have two losses with 2 ROOKIES at prime positions. That's not an easy thing to do. And they have done it with a significantly tougher schedule than the Dolphins. I know it's not easy to win in the NFL no matter the team (ask the Chargers). When In doubt I always go to the good old College Football system... Strength of Schedule.

Some of the "bad" teams are arguable I know. You can say Arizona is average or good. But still. They've done excellent with rookies. I know we also have some young talent in prime positions. I still can't imagine someone looks at this and thinks Gase did more with less. The REAL test for Gase is next year when we will not have a cake schedule.

    Over There.
Jason Garrett will probbaly get it cause they are the sexy pick right now.
    HOWEVER

This is the same coach that had a 4-12 team last year. He's not coach of the year.... His GM should get GM of the year.

To be fair, the speak for yourself tape was from 30 Sep, so like a lot of people on this board, they said our orginazation was bad.

I wouldn't call the Bills a bad team either. Subtract us from the schedule and they are a winning team. At worst by losing next week they would be a .500 team. I know you said some are debatable but that one stuck out to me.

Also winning with a rookie runningback isnt that hard. Its probably the easiest position to adjust to in the NFL if you are talented and have a good offensive line.

Its impressive what they have done with a rookie QB I admit but that team is stacked way more than us even if you believe the schedules are the same.

I particularly thought this was very interesting.
I am excited for the future of this team with Gase! This does not seem like a 1 year thing with Gase. I believe Gase is the real deal. Hes only going to get better! I remember Miami was thinking about guys like Chip Kelly or Shanahan, and Mike Smith, all guys who I believe would have been fired after 3 years. We got lucky we kept Philbin for as long as we did, because I believe we have a star in Gase!

I understand what you're saying mor but I don't concur. Garrett has been at the helm of the Cowboys for how long now? If Garrett was that great of a a coach the Cowboys should have already been a winning team for some time now but that hasn't been the case. Only with Romo going down and Jerry Jones' golden boy sidelined did Garrett have no choice but to bring in a better quarterback in his rookie sensation. That's not great coaching, that's dumb luck.

Adam Gase on the other hand inherited a team in shambles and with great coaching, including benching our star running back on opening day, cutting offensive linemen and a slew of other COACHING moves, took a team that was 4-12 last season and secured a playoff spot with 1 game still remaining in the season. That is great coaching

COY should go to Gase for his phenomenal work in turning a train wreck of a team

You make a great point about Garrett being the coach for several (some trainwreck) years. But then you have to ask that the award is.

    Coach of the Year.

Not coach of the decade. It's just a year. What has this person done this year. This year he has coached a team to a stellar record behind two rookies. When you look at that, I don't think Gase has a chance. And I have to listen to my father in-law talk about these assclowns weekly so this really hurts. When Garrett wins COY it's just another thing for him to talk about his great Cowboys.

I think we're both saying and actually feeling the same thing but for me, the BIGGEST difference is that Garrett has been the coach of the Cowboys for several years, where this is Adam Gase's first year. With that being factored, Gase has been more instrumental in the turn around of the Dolphins than Garrett has with the Cowboys.

After last year's 4-12 season following the Cowboys' 12-4 season in '14, Garrett and the Cowboys were expected to be better than last season.

After Miami's disappointing 6-12 season last year and Miami's mediocre 8-8 seasons in '13&'14, no one really knew what to expect with first year coach Adam Gase. Would he be a Jim Harbaugh and take Miami to the playoffs in his first year as Harbaugh did with the 49ers, or would he continue in Philbin's footsteps and continue mediocrity.

I just personally feel that Gase deserves Coach of the Year much more than Garrett does but seeing how Miami has been so disrespected by all of the sports writers in the sports media, Gase has about as much of a chance as getting Coach of the Year as I do breaking Natalie Portman's back.

I think the point being made is that what's more likely to you...Garrett somehow did something different as a coach or the the final pieces of talent were put in place?

Mor when did you become an Austinite man? It is rough having to listen to all the Cowboys fans right now.

I agree though - Garrett has this award locked down. Gase has does some impressive things and should absolutely be in the running, but to have the turnaround that the Cowboys have had with 2 rookies at key spots (especially QB) is something. As for the comments about them being "stacked" - I could not disagree more. They have a stacked OL and that is about it. They have rookies at RB/QB, they have Dez who is regularly injured and is a streaky diva when on the field. They don't have any WR depth. Their defense is smoke and mirrors really. And remember, Garrett also has to corral the impulsiveness of Jerruh, which is no easy feat.

Tell you one thing, with Denver being in the market for a head coach, I'm glad this is the year we are not looking for one. So many teams are having openings, and never good when one of them won a super bowl super recently. Crazy if who ever coaches Denver next year, and they reach the Super Bowl, they would have reached the super bowl 3 times with 3 different head coaches in a 5 year span

I moved to Austin last January... So almost a year now I'm removed from Florida. Don't regret it one bit.

Note: To be fair we do not live in Austin proper. Live in the burbs in Round Rock.

If any serious case will be made in Gase's favor, it'll begin this weekend.

Last weeks loss only served to smother his noteworthy, yet largely unheralded inclusion.
