I went back and read the original post and your right. In terms of GREAT coordinators who were Awful HC, Arnsparger is a better example than Wanny who was never a great DC. But to be fair BA did end up being a good HC, just not in the NFL.

Was Arnspargar a GM who constantly traded future picks and not drafting a quarterback like Drew Brees because he likes a crappy quarterback like Jay Fielder, so he instead drafts a cornerback in the first round when the team already had two of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, as well as drafting a linebacker who has a 5th round grade over a wide receiver that became one of the best in the NFL?

I've always liked Rex Ryan...how can you not like a fat, arrogant guy who tells it like it is? I am glad that he's out of Buffalo though because he has always scared me- I'll be a fan once he's out of our division. For some strange reason though, I think New England will hire him this week as an assistant coordinator.

Rumor has it that Ryan Tannehill called them up and told them to enjoy their college assistant paychecks.

That's how you build a franchise.

I disagree. Rex was the biggest problem in Buffalo and now that he's gone they might get better.

    It sucks.

The Bills have made a good move here - Rex Ryan absolutely decimated a top level defence in his very first year in Buffalo and the second year is even worse.

To run the type of game-plan that Rex Ryan is obsessed with - ball control and tough D - you need to be extremely disciplined - unfortunately this is something in short supply whenever Rex is coaching.

Lost count of the amount of penalties, 10 men/12 men on the field crap that have defined his teams going back to his Jester days - the guy is a circus clown who has inherited talented teams and subsequently driven them into the ground - Mangini's Jets were a talented bunch and so was the Schwartz led Buffalo D.

Now they can't stop the run despite being loaded with talent on the front 7, and the offence looks inept anytime it is required to put points on the board in a hurry.

Tyrod Taylor is an extremely limited QB - he can't read a defence to save his life, has no idea how to lead a WR or throw him open - although he runs like the wind and has a sweet deep ball - not things to build an offence around in 2017, in my opinion.

Being the Bills they will probably make an an awful choice for their next HC - its what the Bills do.

The other day on one of the sports shows, they were talking about how Vance may be a hot HC candidate for some teams next season. Personally, I think it's a bit too early for him to be considered, but who knows? We have to see how far we get into the playoffs.

Asking this question from a strictly objective standpoint: Did Rex deserve to get fired? What factors can you name that are indictments of his coaching that should've been better and would've produced the 2 more wins Buffalo needed to be in playoff contention, at least?

You're kinda contradicting yourself a few times here. "..has a sweet deep ball", yet "..has no idea how to lead a WR or throw him open..."
    wut?

My opinion of Tyrod Taylor is not objective enough cuz I only really see him play Miami, and when he plays them he looks like Dak Prescott on 'steroids'. (magical 'roids that make you be great at QB'ing).

I meant more throwing him open or leading a WR when throwing to the middle of the field - crossing routes - Taylor will rarely throw down the middle which kills an offence eventually.

He does throw a great spiral - he just can't compute in 'real time' who is going to get open and put the ball where it needs to go when the area is contested by defenders.

Throwing a deep ball on a sideline go route doesn't require much in the way of computation - he puts it on a mark and the WR either gets there or he doesn't - unlikely to be picked.

Yeah, I would love to see Arnsparger in the Hall. The No-Name defense was legendary and I think the Killer B defense was great too. If Woodley had been just OK in Super Bowl XVII, or if Shula had put Strock in sooner, the Dolphins could have won and that defense would have gotten the recognition it deserved.

Like all Arnsparger defenses, it wasn't very big, and the players just wore down from being on the field the whole time.
