Ok, here we are back in the playoffs, but to me a thrashing really doesn't help me. It tells me what we already knew to start the year and what areas we have to address. Appreciative we are back, but I think we can go deeper if we eliminate/initiate and re-discover some things.

    1. Stop deferring. Why do you want the worst unit first? Against Baltimore and NE, those 12 play, 86 yards to start the game are just back-breaking

    2. A sense of urgency for the worst scoring team in the 1st qtr in he NFL. See #1, the response by Miami has been run the ball unsuccessfully twice and have third and long. Bam, down 14-0

    3. Start using your strengths, which we all knew at camp - WRs. Pass protection has been stellar, why not get your best unit, one on one, find the mismatches and unrelentlessly exploit it play after play? Despite the fumble, Williams out of the backfield has been effective too. Use our speed, with Drake and Grant. Unleash it all.

    4. Then when they play off, you bash and kill them with Ajayi. But use Drake as an option to hit the hole quickly. Stop being stubborn

    5. TEs kill us, why can't we kill with TEs? Dion Sims and Gray have been good, solid options, especially to start games, with a rollout. Pitta and Bennett destroyed us. We can't attempt the same?

    6. Defense....well I may be obliterated for this, but maybe we think outside the box and go with an extra DB in the slot (non-nickel situations). If we are being exposed with the LB coverage, maybe worth a look?

I think the key will be special teams. They have to find an extra 7-10 points for us whether its constantly winning the field position battle or running a kick or punt back for a td or blocking a FG or punt. Defense should get shredded so we need our offense to stay close and score alot. I like the idea of airing it out. They will probably try to stop ajayi first. Let the ball rip. One way for a defense to make up for being overmatched is to cause turnovers. If we can get some we have a shot

I also am worried about Wake not being able to set the edge.

How can we compensate for this?

    U.K.
Maxwell missed practice again today.. Whatever you think of him he shut down Brown in the previous steelers game and since he's been out we've been shredded in the secondary. Granted, he may not have made a massive difference, but fact remains that we need our best players if we are to beat the steelers and he's our no 1 corner imo.

I agree that it's time for Coach to start pushing buttons again. Our biggest strength (& in this game also the advantage) is our coaching staff.

We have started slow on defense and deferring shouldn't be considered.

Maybe it's the Madden player in me... I personally love kicking first. I like when we get the ball at half. It opens opportunities to try and use halftime to come back if you're down or extend the lead when you're up.

This is very disappointing. High Ankle sprains suck, but truly are not unbearable to play through. I really wish he'd tape it up and come play. This is the playoffs not the preseason.

Miami surpassed my expectations at least 6 times this year, and they will have to make it a 7th for this game to even be entertaining, much less win. The team has had an 'it factor' that transcends talent and we never know when that intangible force will come forward again.

If Maxwell is going to 'tape it up and go play', he probably has to save it for the game. Doing that for practice could totally exhaust his ability to do it on Sunday.

Right, all indications point to he won't. We also have had some "must win games" that he's skipped due to it....hope he plays. Him at 75% is better than McCain imo.

Someone putting a helmet into Ben's knee is our only chance. Or, maybe someone can let him borrow their motorcycle prior to the game.

I am hoping for a few things, like being decent in the run. also, I am hoping that forces BB to throw, but more specifically, him not throwing fast like Flacco or Brady, gives us a chance to go after him. Finally, I don't want us forcing any kind of offense. if the run is not there, then pass, but know you can soften them up at the right call

I thought Matt Moore looked real good for a stretch in that patriot game, there was some no huddle in that stretch..

I agree prez, we need to win unconventionally..we have the receivers, we have shown good protection, let's start out in the no huddle to loosen em up and get them thinking, then pound them.

My philosophy on the road is different than at home, on the road, I go on defense, at home I take the ball, reasoning behind it is, on the road, the fans are hyped so if we're in offense to start their going to be really excited and loud..

But no rain, and these receivers all wear gloves, I think we should be ok with going air raid no huddle.

I think I am more upset at the play calling on offense after the long drives by NE and Balt, not understanding the momentum of the game. If you are going to put your defense first, the mentality of the offense and playcalling should be more desperate. I keep asking for the rollout and the pass to Marquise Gray that they did a couple games for about 20. it's a great way to get to the 40 fast. let's get some field position, then unleash Ajayi

That's a really good point....obviously because you don't want your defense back out quickly the play chart needs to change in order of important plays, that drive is crucial to sustain so pull out all the stops to even the game and start over.

I don't think we're gonna be airing it out. Our advantage is with the run game vs their banged up front 7 that isn't great against the run to begin with. Got to ride Ajayi to grind this thing out. Maybe mix in Drake a little to try to hit a homerun.

I really like our chances in this game.

Good ball security and not turning the ball over are going to make or break the Dolphins in this one I think. Keeping it close on the road and being disciplined is what's worked all year. Running the ball, throwing the ball, etc. are going to ultimately be dictated by the game planning for both sides of the ball. I think teams are coming out with a stuff Jay mentality and make Moore beat you. The receivers have to get open especially if the line isn't giving them time. I hope its a ground and pound attack that works. Grinding the clock and beating up on the D Line opens up a lot of the offense in the second half.

I say do whatever you gotta do to score early, make this gutty team feel as though they have a punchers chance, then, start getting real physical on defense, just try to get the steelers where we've gotten out reputation, last part of the fourth quarter, our comfort zone..

You can easily go three and out if you try to establish the run against a team gearing up to stop the run.

I get that they're the clear favorites at home and we should probably just be grateful to even be in in the postseason but even with all that, I'll still be heavily disappointed if we get blown out.

    Just read a fun factoid.
Every time Miami and Pittsburgh have met in the playoffs the winner has gone to the Superbowl.

Our TE's seem to catch the ball very well it's strange we don't look for them more. Dion Sims even has a few TD catches.

Great post on second paragraph. That sums it up. That stubborness can kill us. Let the pass set up the run. It is a marathon, no sprint. Who cares if Ajayi comes on late , early or all game. As long as he comes (that doesnt sound right)

First win in a historic run to the Super Bowl. Against every odd...against every bit of logic the experts use to argue against us...

We are the Miami Dolphins. Every fan. Every team member. Every person who bleeds the aqua and orange. We are the Miami Dolphins...

I just hope Gase tries to play-action the crap out of them. Especially our first couple of series b/c that Pit defense is so pissed I believe they're gonna bite on everything. Have Parker or Stills run underneath after the fakes and it'll be a foot race to the EZ every time.
