From the EdmontonJournal: "The 26-year-old Lacey, who was scheduled to become a CFL free agent on Feb. 14, led the Eskimos with 87 tackles, while also contributing three interceptions and a sack in 18 games after becoming a full-time starter on defence. Following Edmonton’s 2015 Grey Cup championship, the six-foot-two, 229-pound West Alabama product took over at WIL linebacker for Dexter McCoil, the former CFL 2014 most outstanding rookie who joined the NFL’s San Diego Chargers last year. Prior to that, Lacey spent his first two CFL seasons setting the Eskimos club record with a league-leading 29 special-teams tackles as a rookie and finishing second overall with 23 in 2015. In his three seasons in the CFL, Lacey earned 114 defensive tackles, 68 special-teams tackles, seven sacks, three interceptions and forced four fumbles in 54 games. Since futures contracts do not take effect until the following league year, Lacey won’t be joining the Dolphins when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, or in the playoffs, for that matter. His previous NFL look saw him spend training camp with the Dallas Cowboys in 2013."
When the Cowboys initially picked him up there was, apparently, talk about him playing safety instead of LB due to his size. We know Gase likes versatility - maybe the Dolphins are thinking of him as a movable piece? From BR: "The biggest obstacle is that Lacey lacks the size (6'1", 211) of a linebacker. Obviously being undersized would seemingly hurt his chances. So he will need to spend time getting bigger. Dallas, however, will likely try him out at safety at some point. While playing at UWA, Lacey started off at defensive end, which was his position in high school and earned him All-State honors as a senior. He switched to outside linebacker as a sophomore. Lacey made an immediate impact as a redshirt freshman in 2009. He finished that season with 67 tackles (48 solo), three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. He also blocked a field goal. Lacey provided his best collegiate performance during junior year. He was named the 2011 Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Year after recording 97 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, four broken passes and a fumble recovery. Lacey is no scrub. He can ball. Still, unless his current size changes, a position change to safety might be what takes him far in the NFL. Lacey has this aggressive and relentless style of play similar to what a coach expects out of a linebacker and safety. The Cowboys currently have a need for depth in the secondary. So the potential fit is there if Lacey does not pan out at the linebacker position. His tackling ability could also be useful in Lacey starting off his NFL career as a special-teams guy."
That Laing guy didn't pan out and he was the greatest Canadian thing since maple syrup. Wake was our 'needle in the haystack'. Haystack is just comprised of hay now.
Turn over every stone. He obviously is always making plays and around the ball alot. That's a good thing.
You must be out of your mind if you truly believe your post. Zach made "text-book" tackles. He drove through the ball carrier. This kid, and many of today's defenders(college & pros) seem to have bad technique habits i.e. catching & hugging offensive players with little to no leg drive. If they can coach him up that will be great for us, but not holding my breath. This draft & vet FAs will offer far better LBs.
You are out of your mind. Zach tackled high. I would never use his tackles to show kids how to tackle well. I always marveled at the way Zach tackled people high and rarely missed tackles.
