Bought his jersey last year. The last time I was motivated to buy a jersey was Jake Long. He's the real deal (or maybe I have a thing for the initials JL!).

69th in Y/C and 66th in TD's this year. He's not even in the top 15 for catches on 3rd down.

He's tough as nails (evidenced by being #4 in YAC) and is often the emotional spark plug, but he's rather limited as a WR. He's more of what I consider a "volume" guy.

He is not used right, but does what he is told. Eliminate the bubble screens and the bailouts, and use him like Amendola or Edelman, he would be off the charts

He's tied with Antonio Brown in Y/C. He's actually tied 49th in TD's this year.

I believe Juice is tied for 6th in receptions, 9th overall in yardage and has the 2nd best catch percentage among WR's with 40+ receptions at 74% (Which is better than Fitz, Brown, and Green).

He's a fantastic route runner, great blocker, and has great hands.

He's not the fastest or biggest, but he's a top 10-15 WR.

His lack of amazing stats this season can be attributed to the good seasons by Still and Parker. In the past he was the Phins ONLY good receiver, now they have 3 legit options.

I think Parker is the future of the team though. All 3 can't be paid huge contracts.

Nice way to cherry pick the stats. He's 10th in total yards and 11th in total yards a game. He's 11th in 20+ yard catches. You have a top ten guy and he's just considered a "volume" guy. Ok sure.

His 11th in 20+ yard catches is because of his YAC - which I gave him credit for.

However his yardage is a function of a high volume of receptions, pretty self-explanatory there given his yards per catch is actually 70th behind Allen Robinson of the Jags. He lacks top-end speed and doesn't find the endzone very often - which is what limits him as a receiver.

EDIT: Wait ESPN lists WR's and TE's together. Gotta go get the WR-only ranking for Y/C.

He catches a lot of balls and gets a lot of yards. That moves the chains. Just because he doesn't get 3rd down catches is somehow a slight on him. OK.

One point worth making is that receiving yards, catches, yards per game, 3rd down catches, etc.. all tend not to be good predictors of whether a WR is voted into the HoF.

But total receiving TD's is. Out of the top 20 in career receiving TD's 11 are already in the HoF and several more should make it once they are eligible (Randy Moss, Terrell Owens though we'll see about him, Tony Gonzales, Larry Fitzgerald, maybe Antonio Gates and Hines Ward, etc..). It may end up being something like 15 out of 20 WR's that lead in career receiving TD's that end up in the HoF.

So I think that's the most important stat for WR's.

Having said that I love how Landry plays and while he's not cream of the crop he's definitely for me also in the 10-15 range. Very good WR and glad we have him.

    Yawn.

I didn't cherry pick anything - you just can't read. Let me know when you have something tangible for me. This routine gets old where you single me out for having different opinions than yourself.

But please ...... continue this very productive conversation.

They're not even the same player - Landry and Welker. Landry is more of the Steve Smith / Hines Ward mold without the speed.

But for the record - nobody is arguing "against" anyone. The discussion was about this skill sets relative to his production. He's a YAC, high volume receiver who also excels in blocking for the run game. He has to make up for his lack of speed with better route running ...... but after 3 years now he's only produced 13 TD's. Your boy Brown has 13, 10, and 12 in that same time frame.

He's still got time to improve, but that doesn't change anything about him not breaking the Top 10 in NFL wide receivers right now. When I see him being compared with ODB for catches - I just find the comparison flat. ODB is a far more explosive player. His reception totals are slightly inflated for the previous two years. Stills sucked in Lazor's offense and Parker was a non-factor.

Landry is a good receiver, I love the guy. But you can not argue his "most receptions in 3 years" milestone isnt skewed.

Many of his receptions are extensions of handoffs and ineffective honestly.

Again..LOVE watching him play but his impact is drastically overrated if you use the reception barometer.

I think he is a borderline top 10 WR, but he is not a game changer by any means.

    You are being a dramatic.

A game changer is a Julio Jones an Odell Beckham....guy's who put up big plays at a rate that you wouldn't have to even point to anything from last year.

Landry is good and he has made plays (like u mentioned) that has changed games, but he is not he definition of a game changer....he has made big plays but that doesn't make him a big play WR. By definition we can take the same guy you brought up in Ted Ginn and he would fill out a solid list of impressive plays. But that doesn't grant him the title of a game changing WR.

14 has been the most consistent offensive player on this team for a few years now, he is my fav offensive player on this team. But he is what he is. A beast, but he isnt THAT dynamic WR who can change games.
