I NEVER edit players but I do edit equipment and numbers. I don't want Jake Long wearing a number other then #77. I don't want to draft a quarterback to my Dolphins franchise and have him assigned #13. Having players not progress in franchise mode because you change their number of the facemask they wear is ludicrous and defeats the point of the game. I don't want to have to change players everytime I call a play. You used to be able to do it as a formation and not have to do it on the fly. Why change something that works fine? Why not keep it and ADD the new "subs" button? Wait, I know. EA adds new "tweaks" every year but takes away things. That way they can say it's "new". In 2 years they'll bring back the old "substitutions" option and hype it as "the next generation of package substitutions" or some other line of crap. The game play might be "fine" but I expect more. I don't give a flying rats behind if it's only the "2nd next gen" version. This is typical EA. Package it up, hype the hell out of it and worry about bugs and such later. Instead of fixing the issues with the franchise mode they ignore them saying "wait until NEXT years version". Why not fix it NOW!? I HATE monopolies. If EA had competition they would actually have to be, brace yourself, CREATIVE. Instead, they buy out their competition and/or buy exclusive licenses and then milk it for all it's worth. I don't think it's "nitpicking" at all. I think it is people that know what a game should be wanting to see what they expect after they drop down their hard earned $60.00+.
That's how the NFL used to do it, they changed in the early 80's. EA would have hgad to work at this probably so they said "**** it, we'll take the angry emails and ignore them, they already paid for it".
If you have such problems with the game, don't ****ing buy it! You say it is the same crap EA always does, then why would you ever keep getting it?
I used to just be the d-lineman all game and let the computer take care of things but realized that it took away from the pass rush because the guy I was controlling would never do a thing. I play very simple defense now. If I'm playing zone or a coverage where the safety is playing zone I control that guy. If I'm playing man coverage I'll always be blitzing so I control one of the blitzers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I actually found in this years Madden that passing is pretty easy until the red zone. I've had 4 games and my completion percentage is over 80% (setting is "my skills" or whatever it's called. Always look for a match up, you'll be able to pick the computer to shreds. I use a lot of motion and "hot routes". I run a TON of short outs, usually every play I have someone running one. I've found in 4 games that the tight end is there all freaking day. Anthony Fasano would be progressing big time after this season....if I hadm't corrected the number EA gave him...LOL!
LOL! Overall I really like the game! I'm looking forward to getting in the online league around here. I've never played online before. What I said about EA is true though and you know it.
Its very difficult to get a sack with a defensive linemen. I play the 43 and then blitz with an outside linebacker. I get a couple sacks a game. As for the passing game, slants are hard as hell to execute. I just run curls or out patterns.
Does this game lag on the PS3 for anyone else? Because it's soo bad on mine.. Every command takes 1 or 2 seconds to execute.
Yes it is hard to control the Dlinemen. It doesn't matter if you use the RB or LB or Y the Oline usually locks you up. I usually control the MLB or OLB.
If you mean things like hiking the ball, yeah, I notice that I hit X and I'm waiting a couple of seconds for something to happen. I don't think EA is using the PS3's caching features very well. No wonder they *****ed about the PS3 a couple of years ago; they're totally incompetent with it.
Then I am officially confused. There are a bunch of times where I hit X to hike the ball, and Pennington just kind of stands there. Maybe he really enjoys that particular view of Satele.
Alright sometimes with shotgun you have to hit it twice because typically when you hit X (or A) he raises his leg or his arm somewhat. When that happens you just tap it again and it hikes. If your not in Shotgun sometimes when you Audible you have to wait for the players to get set. In NCAA if your playing a tough away game and call audible it takes around 7-10 seconds for it to respond.
It doesn't lag but the game is slow as hell (not the PS3's fault but it just plays slow). I have been playing the NCAA 09 demo and it plays so much faster. Plus I am not seeing that great of graphics either (granted this is my first next gen Madden) and I have an HDTV. I could really slam this game but I want to give it more time because usually when I pick up a game, especially a sports game, I hate it until I adapt so we'll see. But so far I am soooo glad I rented this game.
Yes they slowed the game way down. 5 min Quarters aren't even enough for me Yes NCAA is faster in gameplay. I prefer the NCAA gameplay than Madden. Damn those whores reaching out for a market that will never exist.
I didn't, I purchased it. But yea, I meant just how unresponsive it is. Like the changing of the menus, the audibles.. the hiking.. hot routes..the moves.. the defensive gameplay as a whole. I might be crazy but I think it's the ps3 getting used to the game, after you play it for a while.. it gets better..smoother, the transitions aren't as laggy. It could also be that I'm used to 08. Oh well. I'll still play it like there's no tommorow.
I think All-madden on Hardcore is near impossible to win with the Dolphins. Also can anyone confirm the progression rumor?
What I am curious to know...is if you sim a bunch of seasons...say 8 seasons...do guys REGRESS...I know some guys progress one way or another but does anyone regress...ever? Thats one things people are complaining about that dudes are like 39 yrs old and are still 99 which is bogus. Anyone up to the task? I'd do it if someone send me a copy to evaluate Seriously. If I had the game I'd hook you guys up and sim like 15 years and give you guys here the low down but I am not in a position to pay 60 this year for Madden even if I wanted to right now
How much better is it really than '08? I got my football fix last season with NCAA 08 but I dont want to shell out cash for 09 unless the graphics are that much better and they actually improved other things to make the game really a better experience. According to the Mor, its basically the same game so I dont know...

What is pure BS is the how the players react and run out of bounds, etc. All Pro Football has that fixed where players actually tiptoe if they are close to sideline or drag their feet to keep a catch in bounds. Plus I think I've never seen a receiver in Madden catch with one hand. If Madden would just steal these features it would make it a lot better, IMO. The gametrailers review is pretty on spot except for I would give it a 6 of 10 as of right now.
This time I believe they are telling the truth about the franchise aspect. The guy who was the lead designer on this years Head Coach will be working on the franchise mode this year. I hope they let him do what he wants. I have been waiting for a franchise mode where I can trade future draft picks, make pre-season cuts and etc.
Yea, no lag for me. I have had it freeze after the first KO return (which frustratingly had to have me restart my ps3), but actual plays there is no lag.
Only complaint I really have about franchise so far is that we don't start with Washington's 2nd rounder.
