The Bills gave Richie Incognito a chance when not many people would have, and he’s paid them back with consistently good play.

And now, he’s recognized as one of the best at his position.

The Bills announced that Incognito was named to this year’s Pro Bowl, replacing Ravens guard Marshal Yanda.

It’s the second straight honor for Incognito, who also made it once with the Dolphins in 2012. But that was before the bullying scandal that led to his release. He didn’t play in 2014, but found a patron in former coach Rex Ryan, who wanted to build a physical running game.

The Bills led the league in rushing this year, and set a franchise record with 29 rushing touchdowns.

Too bad we could have used him this year. He had to go but.....

I'm sorry, but why did he have to go? The only reason I can see was to cater to a spoiled sissy who washed out of football anyway. But hey, at least our losing team had "high moral character."

They had to find a guy to take the hit, unfortunately it was a starting player at a position of need, and not Philbin.

I hated him while he was here. I wanted to move on before the scandal ever happened. Hopefully, he retires ASAP. Can't stand the guy,

Richie was always a pretty solid G in my opinion. He's had his fair share of issues though, and that's the shame in the whole thing. Especially for us, he could still be a key piece to this OL today. I don't want to get into the whole bullygate thing as that horse doesn't need another beating, but there was enough wrong doing to go around, Richie was a part of that and the decision was made. It is what it is now. It's not like he was ever a bad player though, he just got himself involved in a lot of bad situations whether it was his temper, personality, or whatever... his play was never the issue IMO.

Richie, at the beginning, had temper problems. His skill, at least to me, was never in question. He has since learned to control his temper and I really wish he was still a Dolphin.

Incognito needed to be ousted for drunkenly committing sexual assault at a Dolphin's charity event.

Playing football doesn't make you tough. You're fully padded and people aren't (generally) out to hurt you. Aside from the rare dirty play or freak injury there is nothing about football that makes you a tough human being LOL

Martin is a ***** and if I ever meet him the plan is to punch his teeth out lol he's useless as a human.

He's catching 250+ pound human beings running at near top speed with his hands and redirecting them in front of tens of thousands of people and with millions watching.

No, you wouldn't. More like half-yell something incoherent from a safe distance and throw a ketchup packet

Hmmmm. Seems to be a tad too much braggadocio in this thread! Winds are blustery as well!

Personally, if I were younger, in shape, trained, and at the right size, and playing DT or NT (all of which are as unlikely as me being elected President!) I would not consider Incognito to be insubstantial. With the proper Head Coach, he would be one of the bases for a very good line. But, I would sure be careful going anywhere with him.

Richie was kind of out of control.. with the golf club allegations, hard partying and all. However, he was always a "company man" even flashing the bird at the Jets. While he definitely needed to be reigned in, he should not have had to pay the price for the ineptitude of Philbin and his proxy Turner's lockerroom implosion nor made a scapegoat by that fey boy Joni Martin and his race-card playing manipulative mommy. There are not enough bad things possible that I can wish on The Martins.

Good for Richie. Maybe Tannehill wouldn't have been pissing so much blood last year if he were out there protecting him instead of Dallas friggin Thomas.

What have I done? Nothing at all...except for being confident enough in myself to laugh in bullys' faces. When I was Martin's age, I would just stomp their asses and go about my day.

Then again, was Martin a "professional football player?" Sure, he did wear the uniform and all, so he can always say he played football in the NFL. But is it professional to run out of the team cafeteria crying and hide at your mommy's house for the next few weeks? Or is it professional to run to the media and blame it all on your best friend? Martin desperately wanted to belong in that locker room with the tough guy crowd but his feelings just wouldn't allow it.

I don't know what else you could possibly call it- his photo should be next to the word "sissy" in the dictionary.

This scandal was a joke. Cogs was a victim of PC culture and a guy that knew he was not long for the league looking for a pay day being directed by his mommy who is a lawyer. Philbin had no idea how to handle a locker room and the team as a whole suffered because of it.

Do you have any idea if Martin sued Incognito/the team/the NFL, or are you pulling stuff out of your ***?

Incognito is a long time ****-up who has done a litany of dumb bull**** in his career, and while he might not have deserved to have his career ended for the Jonathan Martin thing, it would be absolutely appropriate for it to have been ended for all the other **** he's done- including sexually assaulting a volunteer at a charity golf tournament.

Incognito getting put into a blocking scheme that plays him to his strengths does not validate any thing he's done in the past, or whatever dumb **** you want to believe about political correctness.

It’s still humorous how some try to defend Martin and truly think he was some kind of victim. At the same time, it’s sad. All you need to do is look at the texts that Martin sent to Incognito. THEY BOTH TEASED EACH OTHER. It was not at all one-sided.

People have rightfully questioned Martin’s toughness, as they should because he's a *****, while those who don’t know much about sports, such as politically correct whimps, talk about Martin as a hero.

Bottom line, Martin is a mentally weak coward.

Because the society we live in is set up for everyone to feel like a "victim"....this gives them an excuse in life to fail and point the finger elsewhere.

Accountability is a dying thing these days. Its all about making excuses on WHY you suck at life.

That doesn't make him tough though. Isn't he 300lb? I'm not calling him a sissy but I'm 150 and I'll do that to 125 lb people all day and twice on Sunday. Would I punch him? Naw. I'm half his weight. But I've fought and taken a club to the face by a 175-200 lb dude in high school.

Does that make me tough? No I was just really stupid (but had a great rep in high school after that) and got lucky

I understand that Incognito has become a sort of martyred patron saint to people who spend their lives confused and angry about how society thinks what they do say and believe are stupid and wrong, but it's a secondary issue.

The fundamental premise of a lot of the dumb **** that has been said about this never materialized. There was no lawsuit.

With millions of people watching, and exposure to social media? There's no comparison. Going out and doing what Jonathan Martin did professionally is more brave and masculine than what virtually anyone posting here has done in their lives.

Considering the vast stink it raised across the league and beyond, its comical that Incognito would not only see his career continue, but find himself voted to a Pro Bowl merely 3 years removed from the devastating incident. As such I believe it accurately reflects a cross section of sentiment, that both the league, and fans ultimately drew from it.

    I disagree.

Nothing Martin did was brave. Martin is a weak minded individual that played professional sports because he was gifted a talent and thought it was an easy way to make a living because he never really had to try.

If a bird flying is brave, then I guess what Martin did was brave. However, not many people would call a fish brave for swimming or a bird brave for flying.

As far as individuals here go, there are combat vets, medical professionals, law enforcement, and many other people that have been proven much braver than a sniveling 300 lb man who cried about words.

If you drew a Venn diagram of people mad about Jonathan Martin and those people you've described there would be very little overlap.

It's much more people who relate to Incognito as being incapable of navigating normal human society and mad about how incomprehensible that is to them.

It's totally an indictment of the sports media.

They are the ones that blew Bullygate out of proportion and then more or less, ignored the real problem, the sexual assault at the charity event, then turn around and help vote him into the Pro Bowl.

What ever happened with the sexual assault thing? Did he just give her hush money because I remember hearing about it and then...nothing. I remember her accusing him of rubbing her vagina and breasts with a gold club and then dumping a bottle of water over her head..or something like that. Anyhow, if all of that was true he should have been arrested. You don't treat anyone, much less a woman, that way.

Anyhow, I think the biggest issue in the Bullygate crap was that Incognito did nothing wrong and was punished. The evidence showed that he and Martin were friends and razzed each other in the same way.
