That's how I see it. Gase had Ryan looking better than he ever has...even when the OL wasn't blocking well and Jay was held in check we saw Ryan play at a high level. His pocket presence improved drastically, his anticipation was getting better as well. If he can get the knee right I think Gase will have him at a Pro Bowl level next season for the reasons outlined by Gase in the presser and simply another offseason with the whisperer himself.
He benched two guys that outperformed the starters (Ajayi and Moore). He started Foster, who has had a million injuries. Even after Foster was hurt, he didn't feed Ajayi until he had that first 200 yard rushing game. He gets treated like some sort of savior when he beat one winning team all season after we hurt Big Ben. We got absolutely pummeled by the Ravens, Patriots and Steelers. Those are just about the only good, healthy teams we faced all season. I'll give him more credit than Philbin but let's be honest here, he's not proven much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Learn to read. I said he's played more games than that as a Dolphin. Stop saying stuff that's not true. I didn't say I'm limiting my scope to just those games and snaps the same way I'm not cherry picking anything. I'm looking at every game Moore has played for us as a Dolphin. MM8 still had the threat of a running game in those games and arguably some of the best pass blocking this season. Exchanging Steen with Urbik really improved the interior pass rush protection. Still, PFF grades on individual performance and a quarterback can have a good individual game without a running game and a defense giving up 20 to 21 points. The Bills game he had a runningback with over 200 yards and the defense did not give up 21 points in the first half and according to PFF it was his worst performance.
You're right ..... 67, 75, and 52 yards are a stellar performance by our rushing attack. Urbik still isn't as good as Pouncey, Albert was playing with one hand, and Tunsil's shoulder hasn't been right since earlier in the year. Now that's an obtuse response. I hope to see you shrug that same scenario off the next time the defense and running game let Tannehill down. Neither of these QB's are winning anything significant without it.
Urbik was much better than Steen. Did you watch those three games you were discussing? The defense was playing the running game hard and having 8 in a box. They were still playing the running game very hard. You are acting very arbitrary. What was slow to understand about my response?
The Jet game was the one where they stacked the box almost the entire game. That didn't happen again as the Bills, Pats, and Steelers mixed up their defensive alignments. But as I requested before - compare apples to apples and show me Tanny's performances in similar game situations instead of regurgitating PFF stats without context. And as I said in my edit above - Albert was playing one-handed, Urbik no matter how you want to paint it is not as good as Pouncey, and Tunsil's shoulder had not been right since the middle of the year.
That happened every game after the Dolphins put up 200 yards against the Steelers. No game after that did teams not stack the box and do their best to stop Ajayi. Do your own homework.
I thought Matt Moore played with some real heart and guts in the WC game. Took that big hit from Dupree, and came back in after one play?? I guarantee you Brady/Rodgers don't do that. I wish we had a backup of that caliber... and would never have to use him.
Brady has played with a broken rib and finger. Rodgers rarely miss games. I know it's great to be fan but thinking our qb is tougher than the rest of the league is silly. The NFL is made up of tough QBs. We shredded Bens knee and he came back in. Rivers had emergency surgery on a torn knee and played the next week.
What is your point supposed to be? Your posts sound like you believe that Moore played at least as well as Tannehill, with less help...which would mean you believe Moore actually played better than Tannehill. If you believe Moore is better, then why wouldn't you want him to start? If you don't believe Moore is better, then why are you making arguments trying to paint him as better?
You have a point, maybe I'm just used to seeing the sissy backup QB's that Pittsburgh keeps behind BR7 that I didn't come to expect that from a journeyman backup QB. To get up and WANT to come in the next play, when your team is getting throttled, speaks NO QUIT in his heart; he appeared to want to be there to rally the troops and keep their morale up. That kind of leadership can inspire. Anyway, point here is that Moore is definitely better than most of the backup QB's out there, hope he sticks around (or goes to PIT).
My concerns about Moore starting are as follows: Age Hit he took from Dupree - he may not feel anything now, but let's revisit the situation in a few months or when he starts taking hits again Delays the process of grooming a long term solution - If we cut Tanny who is it we're targeting exactly? If he starts - from a performance perspective I have no issues with it. The biggest factor is Gase, as he has shown what he can do with QB's. He's earned his whisperer title. So as you can see, I'm not 100% sold on either side at the moment. But I found Dupree's evidence severely lacking context. With a win at Pittsburgh and a tough showing at NE, I would more than likely be pushing for serious starting consideration.
You left out his actual play as a starter. Despite FFD's bluster, he did not clearly outplay Tannehill and if he'd taken better care of the ball back in 2011 (fumbles + INTs + decisions), he would have secured the starting role in 2012 and Tannehill either doesn't get selected or sits out 2012 as he was intended to and learns. I do agree with your other points, particularly the last one. The QB unit 1-2-3 needs to be upgraded. Going to be disappointing if Doughty doesn't make the roster this season. While I expect Moore back as the backup, Doughty needs to secure a spot and we need to find another late round guy to groom and hopefully fight for a spot.
I doubt Bridgewater can play in '17. Devastating injury. I read complete knee reconstruction. Too bad, the kid has skills.
The "broken rib" thing was BS and never confirmed. If you've ever broken a rib you'd understand how ridiculous it is to think that someone could play QB in the NFL with that injury. He most likely had bruised ribs, which are still painful, but not broken painful. Hyperbole, much? "Shredded" Ben's knee? lol His torn meniscus was aggravated. Rivers had a scope to clean out some debris and it wasn't "emergent". I've had that same procedure many times and was back to doing boots and utes runs in the military in less than a week.
He has a good gig here, 2 MIL per ... would bet he'll at a minimum Finnish out this contract and likely 1 more .... tough to turn down 'easy' money, unless of course you are forced to earn it often (which shouldn't be the case here) ...
