Seriously doubt BP would take a WR in round 1. His more of a draft lineman. I believe we go LB next year.

Crabtree is the best WR I have seen in the past five years. I would grab him if we pick early .....Rey Rey of USC if we pick a little later.

I know his tendancy is to go lineman early but I dont think OT is a big enough need to go two years in a row and no DT is worth a top 7 pick imo. Crabtree is freak like at WR and I think even Parcells is willing to accept that.

    LB is an option too.

I like Channing in the middle of the defense to be honest, I see you guys going OLB before you go inside. A guy like Freeman, Weatherspoon, Cushing or Curry.

I don't put any of those guys though in the top 10, maybe even 15...

Crabtree has got to garner a hard look, especially seeing the state of our WR corps atm-not great.

Id put Crabtree as right at the level of CJ, maybe better raw potential less polish, hes a freak and a gamer though to be sure.

CB will need a hard look as well with Davis and Jenkins leading the pack there.

You could be waving the next proven Jerry Rice in Parcells' face and he won't take him. He just doesn't draft WR's. He had to be forced to draft "She" Glenn, which he finally began to accept, and forced to take in "The Player" Owens. The man just does not like to take in new skilled WR's.

To be fair with Owens especially, their was some baggage around. Crabtree is a pretty stand up guy by all means. And like DB said, its all about where we are picking and whos left.

And dont forget please, this is Irelands choice, not Bills. Hes an influence to be sure, but Ireland will be making the pick, not Bill.

Provided Owens did have baggage but the Glenn issue is a very visible one.

I dunno, I keep getting the impression, personnel wise that Bill's had more than just an influence in decision-making. I've seen puppet rulers hold more authority than Ireland right now.

Let me put it to you this way if Miami passes on a WR like Crabtree for a LB, or CB, I think they will be kicking themselves for years. That's how talented this kid is.

Indeed, hes the kind of WR that only comes along every few years, in the mold of Fitz and CJ imo. Rey Maluaga (sp?) also might be such a player, but the LB position is often rated lower, though the success of guys like Willis and Beason may bring them more to the forefront.

Also we will have to see how the team shapes up as a whole really, but tough to predict that in early mocks.

DB, you say in another thread that Miami should take CB Davis while here you say we should take Crabtree. Seeing as both spots will likely be big needs, who do you see as the overall better player, Davis or Crabby, and will Jenkins from OSU factor into the discussion at CB top 5 or is it just Davis?

Crabtree without a doubt. I have the top 3 or 4 CB's as very close and I dont think either Jenkins or Davis have done enough to seperate themselves. Personally I really like Alphonso Smith from Wake Forest and Jarius Byrd from Oregon. As of now I dont think Id take Davis top 5, maybe top 10. Jenkins is more like a 15-20 pick imo.

OK lets do a little assumption. Ginn turns out well and has a top 10 receiver year in yards and TDs. However, we still get a pick at say the 4-5-6 slot area. Who would you be looking at considering what our team has atm? QB (Henne), WR (assuming the above), RB (R&R) OL (Long and Carey), and on D, so much youth the last 2 years on the DL.
What 2-3 players in that area are Miami gonna be most likely to look at?

Well I must use full disclosure here and tell you that I had Ginn nowhere near the top of my WR rankings the year he came out. I dont think he'll ever be more than a good slot WR and great returner. I thought it was a very bad pick for you guys but we will work off your scenario.

    My pick would be;
    1. Micheal Crabtree
    2. Micheal Johnson
    3. George Selvie

Ideally I think the best position for you guys to take would be OLB, DT and then DB, assuming Ginn goes All-World. However that being said Micheal Crabtree is a talent you can't pass on and even if Ginn blows us he's still a little small for a true NFL #1. Having Crabtree would be similar to Detroit having Roy Williams but taking Calvin Johnson too. You just don't pass on the guy.

But look at where Detroit is now!! Lol no really thanks for the input, I always love talking some draft. Selvie is an interesting prospect, dont usually see him mentioned top 5 (that Ive seen at any rate) but he could fill a void for us.
Personally, Im still not sold on our MLB spot. We have Crowder, who may even start, Torbor and Ayodele, both of whom may be in the mold of "good not great." If none of them dazzle a guy like Rey would be worth at least a look imo.

And the odds of landing a stud OLB/DT are equally as good in later rounds so that could dampen any loss at those positions by selecting Crabtree.

I know many people think Texas Tech runs a gimmicky offense but look at what Wes Welker has done. Crabtree runs great routes....I don't think he has the size, speed or jumping ability that CJ has, but as far as getting open and catching the ball, I think he is as good as anyone, and would be a great fit for the Phins.

Definitely, and so far, no real headcase warning flags that you might get out of a TO (who I highly compare him to).
