So Big O reported that another MRI for RT. If surgery is needed , how does this change things? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, full reconstructive surgery takes about 8-12 months to properly heal depending on the person. I'm assuming that he won't need full reconstructive surgery so it should be less. And, he seems to heal fast so....My best guess (hope) would be around 6-7 months?? Who really knows....
This is potentially sloppy. Can they really want to go with Matt Moore? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No way. If I had to bet money, I'd think they have a pretty good idea that he won't need the surgery. Either he's responding really well to therapy or he would have had the MRI and/or surgery sooner. Now, that's not saying that he won't get surgery....
With rehab for the ACL, you don't know if it worked... until it works, I guess. A more minor surgery would take less recovery time, right? Which is why they are letting it heal through rehab? Still time for Tanny to go under the knife and be ready to play for 2017? Everything is under control, right? Since the Culpepper/Brees debacle, I have never recovered my faith in the Dolphin medical staff.
Gase has been saying all the right things, however, we all know this was the season Miami had to re-structure his deal. There is a $10M cap savings on a cut. Gase was able to evaluate RT. I just think Miami could be considering this too
Considering cutting RT? It will never happen unless somehow we got Rodgers, Wilson, Luck et al....lol
Of course this isn't good news...so, let's look at the best end-case if the worst possible scenario plays out. If he has to have knee surgery: He won't be asked to play any game until the season opener. Matt Moore becomes the "off season" starter. He will take the starter reps in Mini camps, OTAs and TC. There will need to be a concerted effort to upgrade the #3 QB position. Can Doughty be that guy? If so, he'll have a chance to prove it. If not, we'll be able to upgrade by bringing in the competition and beating BD out. In the mean time, that might change our focus a little bit by deferring personnel priorities to the OL. We'll need to improve the running game in a huge way. I would go into the off season with the assumption that we'll have a number one oline of: Albert, Tunsil, Pouncey, ??, and James. I would also assume that we need to have a 1a oline (probably 8 games worth) of: Tunsil, ??, ???, ???, and James. So we need to seriously upgrade the three interior line positions. So our offseason needs are: ILB, (move Kiko to OLB), Interior OL, DE, and TE. This re-affirms my belief that we really, really need to re-sign Kenny Stills which will allow us to move Devante Parker so we can address the more pressing needs. I think some team that would give a second and third round pick for Parker. Not only do we have quality at the position, re-signing Stills and extending Landry means the WR position is way over budget. Carroo or Scott or a rookie is going to need to be that third WR.
It would amaze me if they sat on their hands waiting for RT to come back from surgery Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would say that someone would be asleep at the wheel to trade Parker, he showed at times the ability to become a true #1 WR, and he still has 2 years left on his rookie contract. Leaving that aside, it would cost us 3.5 mil against the cap to trade him, he's getting 3 mil next year but his dead cap would be 6.5. As far as offseason NEEDs, TE is not among them, we don't have a problem at TE, upgrading that position is pure luxury at this point, our needs are LB across the board, WLB, SLB and MLB, no ILB since we don't run a 3-4, after that it's DE, CB(good CB class) and G, and quite possibly QB. This is a great draft for project QBs, no big stars, but a lot of the next level QBs, and whether or not we keep RT, I'm sure Gase would like to draft a QB, and in a lot of ways, this is the perfect draft for him to do so.
Why would that change anything? It is standard practice to have multiple progress MRIs to give you points of comparison. By all accounts he's healing well. There were even reports of him playing basketball as part of his rehab. And BTW they'll probably have more MRIs down the line. Inevitably he will probably also have some clean-up surgery to remove excess scar tissue from the healing process. That won't mean anything is going wrong either. It doesn't make sense to panic every time he sees a doctor. He will do that multiple times through this process.
