I'd rather they resign their own guys 1st.

The article linked by the OP clearly states that they will spend the vast majority of their cap space on their own players...

I was so against Tannenbaum last year, but man he's deserved some respect after this year.

Yeah.. Gase was the biggest reason for the turnaround, but Tannenbaum's moves, both in FA and the draft, weren't bad (maybe not great, but they weren't bad and in some cases real good). So I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt this year.

I read the article and other than the title, it didn't mention anything about spending on current players or free agents. I'll pass on a Joe Rose/Omar Kelly interview though.

Who the **** cares what this "article" says? It was an interview with Omar Kelly.

Asking Omar about the Dolphins is like asking a hammer about computers.

they need to be aggressive, but not reckless. I'm not sure at this point on a spending spree, when Brady is going to play another 3-4 years

How much is too much to keep him? Ready to pay him $10 mil/year?

They need to work that cap magic, but i'm not opposed to him getting a 4/40 deal. he was a huge weapon for us and not one that i think can be easily replaced.

What did Matthews get with the Titans?

A quick Google search tells me: 3 year, $15,000,000 contract. I don't think he has the same value to the Titans as Stills does for Miami. I'd be happy if we could get Stills on a 3 year, $24,000,000 contract though. Half that guaranteed.

More than that, and I am looking at other options, even just drafting a speed guy and hoping to develop him.

    This. So much this.

I can't remember the last valuable contribution Omar has made to Dolphins related information. I still hope this year is the year that Legedu Naanee breaks out for us as a superstar. Then we don't have to worry about a contract for Stills, or Landry for that matter.

Matthews (who I loved here) had 65 catches. 945 yards and 9 TD's.
    Stills had 42 catches, 726 yards and 9 TD's.

8 million a year would be quite a bit for Stills.

    From the article:

On Miami’s salary cap space heading into free agency- “They’re pretty good. The Dolphins should have about $46.5 million of cap space after they make their cuts. They will probably spend about $35 million on their own players and I expect them to be aggressive in free agency going after a defensive end, a cornerback and a linebacker.”

Here is where I would focus my money in Free agency / Draft

Of course we want to sign our own good players first, but we can grab some real talent and improve this team quickly if we can spend a little money on younger / productive players.

    1. Linebackers at least 2
    2. Safety & Corner we need a shut down player.
    3. Offensive Line (Trade Mike Pouncey fill a major need) Get another tackle and center (possibly Draft)
    4. Address Tight End (we need a stud safety blanket)
    5. Defensive End Wake is good for another year but we need a replacement / rotational player.

Players away from a serious run. We can get 4 of these in free agency

Free Agency LB, Center (maybe a draft),Safety and Corner
Draft a LB, DE, Tackle, TE

Centers- Hawley, Person, Tretterm and Schwenke
LB - Nick Perry, chandler Jones, Melvin Ingram
Corner - Stephon Gilmore, Marcus Cooper, Logan Ryan
Safety - Eric Berry, D.J. Swearinger, Micah Hyde, Christopher Conte
TE - Jack Doyle, Ryan Griffin
DE / Tackles - Calais Campbell, Mario Addison, Charles Johnson, Kawann Short, Nick Fairley, Johnathan Hankins

Stills contract will most likely be in that $9 million a year range with about $20 million guaranteed. 24 year old ascending player. He will get that kinda money. Guy has 4 years in when we got rookies who enter the league at 24! Landry's I'm expecting to fall into 4 year extension and about $45 million in new money with about $26 million of it guaranteed. Just my guess.

We will likely be forced to be aggressive in FA/Draft. We are basically looking for a starting TE who can make some tough catches in the middle of the field, 2 starting LB's, 3 DE's (honestly Branch could be overpaid. I wouldn't give him anything bigger than Shelby's deal last year...he's depth at best). A RG. A LG if we move Tunsil to his natural spot. And that's not including stuff like maybe trying to improve our 3rd safety over Rambo/Thomas and adding to the Corner backs.
