I agree that people from work are Douchebags. I requested some new marketing materials to be made up or a ne wproduct line we are coming out with. Since I have been the point man on this stuff, I figured they would listen to me.

Dumb.

They didn't so flash forward to Tuesday. I call to check on the status and the marketing guy tells me he isn't gonna do anything but take the pictures so if I need anything setup ahead of time, I would have to do it.

Okay, it is out of my scope of responsibility but okay. So I carved out all of today to go into our corporate offices and set asll of these displays/products/sets up. As I am busting my arse in the sweltering office (apparently to save money, the company is no longer worried about heat and its affects on the human body, but huzzah look at that enrgy bill savings!), the f'n product manager walks by.

No, just so everyone knows, this douche nozzle is in charge of this entire line. Meaning he is to oversee EVERYTHING from the start until the launch of the product, and all aspects in between. So he walks by and is puzzled to see me working in the office with his products. So he stops and asks, "Hey Samphin (thats what I choose to go by in real life now too by the way. I am cooler on the internet and I think it is due to the name...so I stoleded it for reals), what are you doing?"

I casually and wittily respond with "You're job."

He laughs a nervous laugh but is clearly perterbed and concerned about the comment so he snaps back with, "Good. I guess that means I can go home then."

And that is when I overstepped my boundaries. For you see, I responded with, "You just got divorced, you don't have a home anymore."

I am pretty sure he ran from the office crying.

Lets see you are in North Carolina, so I think the nearest office/warehouse/whatever would be in Jacksonville. But that is simply a warehouse and those guys hit it hard everyday.

North Carolina is run by our McKinney, Texas branch. There are jobs in North Carolina, but I don't know if anything is available currently.

I typically don't complain about my job. I get to eat at fantastic restaurants on a daily basis throughout California (entertaining customers...), I spend a lot of time in the summertime on golf courses, speedboats and bbqs, and I get to travel around the country a couple times annually and see new people/things. Heck, even sporting events/movies and nightlife can be payed for if I chose to. And I don't pay for gas and have a company car. So huzzah to that.

However, like any other job, there is some mind numbing work that goes on. And when my job becomes super busy, it becomes super hard to manage it all. In fact, I was with a customer today and he just pointed at his calender in his office. Apparently I had a meeting scheduled with him the day before and simply whiffed on it due to being so busy with other things. Luckily he was ok with it a slong as I take him to lucn tomorrow and reschedule. But still, less forgiving men would have reemed my arse to the wall and back.

Edit: The closest we are hiring to your area is in Atlanta. Of course, you could also apply for the job in Central America...

Or you can work for my branch if you feel like moving to Seattle. Actually, that isn't a bad gig as your boss would be down here in Northern California...

Nothing in Australia yet, but no need to worry, I am pretty sure I will be taking the next job to open up there or in Europe (WESTERN Europe. I saw Euro Trip, I know better than to go east of Berlin...)

 

I will relocate wherever the moneys at.....or a goodjob.....im a salesman, I got the pitches, I got the gift of gab (hence being on radio).......would love to do all the things u spoke of....bbqs, resturants etc etc..

Actually, kind of odd, but I played little league for a team that was sponsored by my company when I was a little tyke. So when I started dating my current girlfriend, I asked her where she worke,d she told me the company andI knew exactly what it was due to that. I think it actualy helped me in nabbing her (due to knowing the company) and nabbing my job.

Much like everything else, I happened to know people who worked for the company who in turn, informed me of when they were hiring.

Some of the positions require a lot of road travel. For instance, I think the Seattle job actually covers Oregon, Parts of Idaho and Western Montana. I have done that route before, and it is a lot of windshield time.

Howeve,r the majority of your time is spent in Seattle and most nights you are home and sleeping in your own bed. Seattle is a great town to play in as well. Plus, you get to hang out with TexasPHINSfan, and he is tons of fun.


I will PM you either later tonight or tomorrow about it if you are serious. It seems like you have a good gig and your foot in the door with the sports radio deal. But I understand the need to look elsewhere.

Tis true. You go there and everything is gray. No wonder the best depressing, angry music came out of there.

However, it also has a wonderful culture and nightlife that is second to none in that neck of the woods. Great town. In fact, maybe I will go visit it soon. After talking about it so much, it almost warrants another trip.

 

Id like to check out Seattle one of these days. Maybe I'll take a Va-k out there and crash on Tex's couch.

Do they still have grunge bands, or did I miss that whole movement?

 

You can go see a supersonics game...oh....wait..

 

Actually, they still do have a great music scene. Grunge is deader than Cobain, bu the punk scene is pretty neat-o up there right now.

Also, they have this great music museum downtown by the Space Needle. They change the exhibits up quite a bit but it goes through the history of Seattle music, there is a great showcase on the history of the guitar and upstairs, they have different studios with different instruments that you can play and record yourself with.

Oh and the Sci Fi museum is right next door...for the inner geek in all of us.

 

I was there for a week in June 2003, and it was sunny every day we were there except the day we left.

I got to sing livearoke -- karaoke in front of a live band -- at the Phoenix Underground. Great club.

San Diego is where Comic Con is at. It is a HUGE venue. A couple of years ago they had a sweet Dark Knight viral ad campaign going where they put like a dozen memory stick in and around the convention. People who found them, and put them into their computers were given a number and date of where and when to call. And it kept going from there. It led to those peope who stuck with it, to them getting to see the preview before others.

Neat stuff.

San Diego is one of my favorite places on earth. If/when you go there, visit Fred's Taco Stand and Dick's Last Resort...

 

Well hopefully if I make it out to SD I'll have a tour Guide...hint, hint.

 

I got as far south as Mission Vallejo during the two years I lived in Cali. Pretty country. And I, too, would love to be let loose on Comic Con.
