With all the this talk about making our team better, I think it is time to begin pondering what players other teams will cut that can possibly help this team. The first player to hit FA and immediately be picked up was Chad Pennington. Pennington immediately gives you a leader at the QB position and solidifies the position for atleast two years, but are there other players out there that can help. I think you have to first look at the teams weakness. Offcourse everyone knows reciever is one. So, it is safe to say that if a reciever gets cut this team will look at him. Personally I think a guy like Devery Henderson who is rumored to be released can help. He has been playing for Sean payton the last two years. Payton is a diciple of Parcells and runs a very similiar offense to the one ran in Dallas when Parcells was there you have to think that if Henderson was brought in he could help. Two other positions of desperate need is OLB and i think OL. Lecharles Bently is out there, but you have to think other Lineman will be available. Especially a guy like Pat Mcquistan from Dallas who Ireland loved. Dolfans around the world feel free to add players that could be cut that Miami could be interested in.
When I suggested that we bring new players in after first cuts, I was accused of being "over-reactionary".
This is a situation just like the Beck/Henne thing in camp, your over-reactionnary while the young pup is bright and insightfull
If hes waived (which I doubt) he could be worth bringing in. He reminds me of Tony Martin way back when the Fins originally had him, before we traded him to San Diego. He has alot of speed but not great hands. Martin worked hard and over the years became a very good WR. Devery has great speed (which we can't coach) and questionable hands (which we can coach). For that reason, he is probably kept by NO or traded. I doubt he get released...although the Saints are loaded at WR.
Devery Henderson is a good WR. Though I think we would have to trade for him. Maybe a 6th rounder. The emergence of Meacham makes Henderson expendable.
With Colston, Patten, and Meacham, they have three good WRs. They like that kid Adrian Arrington out of Michigan and Terrance Copper can play WR as well as STs. So yeah, Devery seems expendable. With Bush and Shockey, the fifth WR isn't going to be much of a factor anyway in NO.
Doubtful. He'd be a 4th or 5th WR, and our WR corps appears to be solid at the bottom. I wouldn't get rid of Davone Bess, David Kircus, or Greg Camarillo for Todd Lowber. Meachem has yet to claim a top WR spot. He may very well, but it's going to be tough to justify getting rid of Henderson or Patten for Meachem (not Meacham. Why does everyone spell it that way? It's incorrect.) He'll eventually be their #2, maybe even co-#1 ala the receiving situations in Arizona and Cincinnati, but for now he's not there yet.
Yeah, he's injured and Coughlin is getting frustrated with him. They may place him on the IR. I believe he has a quad injury.
1st Post: Personally i think Devery Henderson is just another teddy. A fast guy who can stretch the defense. I would love to see a big target be brought in who has a similar stature to Ernest.
just say no to eric johnson. living in saintsland i have seen enough of him to say he would not make it on this team. think randy mcmicheal without the wife beatings..the guy is very inconsistent at both blocking/recieving with the latter being worse. on to a different player talked about in this thread and that is lecharles bentley whom i kinda wanted to bring in myself in the beginning but if we haven't done it yet then it will not happen at all..the fo probly doesnt see him as starter or worth the money he may want at this point in his carrer it could be a bad decision. thomas is slowly emerging as our starting gaurd next to carey and i feel we should continue to let him improve in the trenches with first hand experience rather than letting him sit a yr for bentley but thats jmo.
